Kapanen for Pesce might be a possibility but no way the Canes take Zaitsev's contract off the Leafs hands on top of that. Props for giving Marner a fair contract though.

Ya my thought on the Pesce trade was that Carolina has a ton of caproom and Zaitsev can fill in as a decent 3rd pairing D on the right side since they won't have Fox coming up anymore. If Carolina thinks he is at least a serviceable NHL dman then he is just a bonus on a 1 for 1 with Kapanen and Pesce.

For your information, Pesce Hamilton Faulk Van Riemsdyk are all RHD. So if Pesce leave, Hamilton-Faulk-Van Riemsdyk will be the 3 RHD.

I feel like the canes might want more for pesce, and the oilers likely don't downgrade their roster if they're getting rid of their best d man defensively. Maybe kappy for larsson+, and then 1st + johnsson for pesce.

Larsson isn't worth a 1st. At most, Brown, a second and a decent prospect.

Carolina isn't taking Zaitsev. No matter what their cap space is. They don't need another RHD. Kapanen is pretty close to fair value for him (despite what people say on here) so props to you for seeing that. But Zaitsev in that deal severely depleted the value. Kapanen and a 2nd probably gets the deal done for both sides.

The value might be close for Kadri to Calgary for Dube and a 1st, maybe closer as a 2nd instead. Idk of both teams do that though. Calgary won't offer that much when they know Toronto is in a cap crunch, and Toronto might be able to get more depth pieces back in a Kadri deal. Plus if they move Kadri it's probably cause they think Nylander is ready for 3C minutes and don't need to get another centre back. But the cake isn't too bad.

As for the contracts, I wouldn't go higher than 6 years at $10.5M for Marner. Save that little bit and it's still fair but you're not too far off either. I can't see Johnsson taking another 1 year deal like he did this year and it certainly won't be that low. I think you're quite far off there. I could see 3-4 years between $3M-$3.5M for him. I'd love to see Ennis back but I think he's earned a raise. Probably near $1M for him. DSP would be loved by Babcock but I'm not sure Dubas would so idk about signing him.

Overall fairly well done though
