<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>westleysnipez</b></div><div>As a Canuck fan who doesn't want DeBrusk, can I ask why you guys are so eager to hold on to him?

He seems kinda bad for a player with a 4M cap hit.

Away from the Marchand or Pasta, he struggles to score goals; he had 24 goals alongside Marchand or Pastrnak last year, this season away from either of them he has just 4 goals through 31 games, a pace of 10 goals over an entire season.

Since 2021, he's 188th in first assists among forwards, making him (on average) the worst player of a typical team's Top-6.

The only thing that seems somewhat decent is his CF%, which for the overall league is good, but when you compare it to the rest of the Bruins forward core its more middle-of-the-pack.

Is he just a well-liked player by fans? Genuinely curious.</div></div>

1. His finishing rate is nowhere near his career averages.

2. He’s a historically streaky player who can put up points in a hurry

3. The stats of players with him are considerably better than without him. It’s almost frighteningly odd, but everybody plays considerably better with him from a statistical standpoint

4. He’s an effective two way player

5. He’s one of the key players on our penalty kill.

The belief is that Boston needs him to return back to the way he played last year with his finishing or we are capped. A lot of things are statistical anomalies and I fully anticipate he will go on a heater.

The players available for him aren’t going to provide that upside. A late 3rd round pick is not even remotely worth those points. It basically limits our upside.
