We have 4 games until the TDL so if he is sitting at 10/19, then I doubt we move him. But if it’s something like 13/19 or even 14/19 then I think you contemplate it.

If we are going to trade Perunovich why not get a RD like Soderstrom back in a prospect swap.

I think Brady would be more likely to sign with his connection with Thomas. They are close in age too so I can see a 7 year deal for Tkachuk when his current deal expires and time Thomas’ next contract extension to have them retire together in St. Louis

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheEarthmaster</b></div><div>It doesn't make a lot of sense to make a "win now" move like trading for Tkachuk while subtracting a bunch of other "win now" pieces in their prime like Kyrou (and frankly, Buchnevich). You don't want to trade for Brady and then still just be a playoff bubble team.
I get why Brady is so coveted- intangibles, fighting, looks like cares out there, whatever- but it's not exactly like he's been dragging an arguably stronger group of forwards in Ottawa to victory, he's had more help than this agm-roster is giving him and he's not even PPG. Effort and reputation is going to affect a lot of opinions but strictly speaking about his on ice results- he's much closer to a Kyrou level player than most people would care to admit- Decent score but you always feel like there should be more there and he gives a lot of it back the other way.</div></div>
Yeah I think I’d be more on board to sign Tkachuk as a free agent when he is done in Ottawa or wherever he gets dealt. I think that would be a great addition to the core when everyone is buzzing around 2028-29 season.

I’d rather give away Kyrou than Dvorsky in a trade to Ottawa. Much rather have a 2nd line center with upside.

I’d counter with Buchnevich for Willander + 2025 1st + Garland if it’s this deadline. Retention can be had on Buchnevich to balance the value out.

I would do BUF 2024 1st (8th overall) and Strbak for Buchnevich at the draft. But I doubt that would even happen

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Matak95</b></div><div>Yeah. Probably someone between Buium, Parekh, Yakemchuk or A. Jiricek.</div></div>
If I had to pick between them all I’d go with 1. Buium 2. Yakemchuk 3. Jiricek 4. Parekh
Then I’d snag the opposite handed defenseman with our early second round pick between RD EJ Emery or LD Will Skahan. That way we get an offensive minded guy and then a defensive guy on the opposite hand.

Blues TDL Discussion
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AC14</b></div><div>I agree, but unless the difference is massive between the normal TDL package for a first liner as a rental vs now, there's no reason to jump unless you love something that's being offered. Fair value isn't an option when fair value isn't fair because it's not accounting for having Buch for 2 seasons at an extremely good cap hit. If nobody wants to pay it fine, wait til next season. At least we don't run the risk of our entire group getting fractured by the loss midseason</div></div>
Yeah that’s a great point. If no one wants to pay the price now, no reason to trade for the sake of trading when we could sell him next TDL and still get probably a 1st and a decent prospect

Blues TDL Discussion
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AC14</b></div><div>By most accounts the decision to sell was made at last deadline for this season as well and probably next. Almost positive we wont be buying. Maybe something similar to like Kapanen off waivers, or Hayes at 50%, some sort of bargain bin deal on a player who hasn't worked out where they're at at a very cheap price.
What it does though with us at least being in the playoff conversation is it make Doug alot more likely to hold which is fine. In all reality for us it's probably better. I dont see it as a situation where he wont sell a guy like Buch, but he's also not going to take something he doesn't love.</div></div>
I think Buch is the guy I’d wanna trade purely for the value we’d get back. He’s the only trading piece where I think the future benefits outweigh keeping him.

If I were St. Louis, I would make this trade at the draft. If Islanders miss the playoffs and are selecting between 12-15th, the Blues would make this trade.

I think we should trade Buchnevich to an Eastern Conference team and preferably for a solid way to get a Top 4 D. Whether that’s a prospect trending that way or getting a 1st round pick from NJD or NYI in the 12-16 range.

Smart Buch TDL Move
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ecupirate07</b></div><div>How many years of prime production are they getting on this deal? That factors heavily into this. 6 years vs 3 and add in position premium. Canes have wingers but not many top 6 center candidates</div></div>
No that’s fair. I’m just saying they could offer him a 5 year extension and still get value out of him. Even if it’s just production for 3 years and 2 years then of “performance not meeting contract standards.” In this case, Aho’s last 2 years are gonna be the same of not meeting contract performance. Regardless of the length, the final two years in both cases are trending down. They won’t have a cup window forever, and every season they had a good shot they’ve been swept in the conference finals. I think Buchnevich adds great value to the Canes and would be a big addition for them to push for the cup the next 5 years.

Buch at 1.5 for two playoff runs is very valuable to a lot of teams. I would expect what Calgary got at next deadline for Buchnevich which may be best for all sides with how we are currently seated.</div></div>
That’s valid. I think we see what happens in the next 10 games before the deadline. Maybe even an offseason decision.
