I’d rather give away Kyrou than Dvorsky in a trade to Ottawa. Much rather have a 2nd line center with upside.

I get what the Edmonton trade is going for and I know that Holloway and Broberg both were drafted with a lot of pedigree but if we're trading and retaining half of Buchnevich- plus Sundqvist- I feel like the return has to be greater than two guys who will be 23 years old by the time the puck drops next season and can't consistently stick in an NHL lineup- two guys that Edmonton barely has a use for anymore. They're getting to that weird part of the development curve where if they haven't shown even flashes of being impact NHLers they're probably not going to be much of ones at this point.

It doesn't make a lot of sense to make a "win now" move like trading for Tkachuk while subtracting a bunch of other "win now" pieces in their prime like Kyrou (and frankly, Buchnevich). You don't want to trade for Brady and then still just be a playoff bubble team.

I get why Brady is so coveted- intangibles, fighting, looks like cares out there, whatever- but it's not exactly like he's been dragging an arguably stronger group of forwards in Ottawa to victory, he's had more help than this agm-roster is giving him and he's not even PPG. Effort and reputation is going to affect a lot of opinions but strictly speaking about his on ice results- he's much closer to a Kyrou level player than most people would care to admit- Decent score but you always feel like there should be more there and he gives a lot of it back the other way.

Kyrou didn't really do anything in the NHL until his 22-23 year old season. I still like their upside but understand.

This is supposed to be a picture of the Blues selling at this year's deadline and then trying to win next season. Some Blues fans are not happy if I propose trading Kyrou for Tkachuk. Some are not happy if I propose Dvorsky and pick. Same for Sens fans and understandably in their case.

I agree with this but bunch of Blues fans didn't like and Sens fans said Kyrou doesn't fit their roster.

Yeah I think I’d be more on board to sign Tkachuk as a free agent when he is done in Ottawa or wherever he gets dealt. I think that would be a great addition to the core when everyone is buzzing around 2028-29 season.

I agree. I think trying to sign either Tkachuk would be much better than trading for them.

I think Brady would be more likely to sign with his connection with Thomas. They are close in age too so I can see a 7 year deal for Tkachuk when his current deal expires and time Thomas’ next contract extension to have them retire together in St. Louis

Maybe not and that is fine. They get to have their own careers. If they want to come as veterans though, that would honestly be maybe a cooler and more meaningful impact. If it doesn't than so be it. I just don't see it being worth it to setback our rebuild.
