<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jonesryan</b></div><div>Martinez probably gets closer to the same value that Muzzin got if he's moved soon. Martinez isn't as physical, but is much more reliable defensively and still produces some points. Plus Martinez has an extra year on his contract than Muzzin at the same cap hit. Try for more value there, not sure Montreal is the team to do it cause they've said they don't wanna give up futures right now. But a 1st+ top prospect and a mid prospect is certainly fair value
Not sure Pittsburgh cap situation allows them the handle Carter's contract long term. They're gonna need upgrades on their defence more than their centre core so the extra space might need to be added there instead</div></div>
I know i saw that too BUT they said they dont wanna give up futures for a rental but martinez is far more than a rental. And i agree hes more solid on defense and hes one of the better d men when it comes to blocking pucks. And about pens cap space they do currently have room if brassard get flipped in the deal. might need to throw someone like a sheahan in for when schultz gets back but thats kinda minor. If kings retain salary they probably get alot better return as pens wouldnt need to worry about cap issues but for this i didnt have them retain

i know Toff hasnt finished but my point was Carter is donzo at least on the kings. He wont play well until traded because he doesnt care at all right now. Not playing for a playoff spot=not worth Jeff Carters time

Ya dude what are u thinking hahahaha what u did was pretty much give the kings gauthier, a pick that might not even be in the lottery next year, and a bag of chips for jack hughes.
not to mention PIT wont take that either. everything else looks good tho IMO
i like CAR btw so i dont have bias but I honeslty think you would have to do all of what this guy said plus svech for them to consider. they wouldnt even think about moving this years pick unless theyre screwing CAR over

also dont think theres a chance kings move walker cause of his age and being right handed (kings dont have too many of those either). only Dmen they would trade are Martinez and big daddy dion.... MAYBE forbort or muzzin if some slam dunk deals came along

Kovalchuk deserves better than this. Hate how hes in the coach's doghouse for NO REASON

Quick to Colorado Thoughts
for what its worth, i didnt think this was that bad. take out grabauer and add scherbak going to COL and i think that makes its worth it. Quick has no help this year and still played well given the circumstance, but some people only look at stats. I can tell u right now if u ask most players and executives who they take in a playoff series and they say quick. COL fans can have fun with their first line and getting bounced first round every year bc they got nothing better to look forward to. U need an elite goalie if u wanna do any better than making the playoffs cause thats all u have to look forward to which is a waste of ur first line. quick is the only elite goalie truly available. bobrovsky not getting traded sorry dreamers!

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bf3351</b></div><div>They aren't doing a rebuild. We don't need one anyway. All we need is a retool and preferably a better head coach. Carter needs better linemates and we need an upgrade or two on defense. We need to get rid of Forbort who is holding Doughty back. We also need to play Kovalchuk with Kopitar and Brown regularly.
I'm fine tanking this season for a good pick as long as we get a better general manager and better coach as well as go after FA's like Duchene, Panarin, Simmonds, ect. assuming they go into free agency.</div></div>
agreed, kovalchuk needs to play with Kopitar and brown but Carter has been ass this year. If you watch closely Toffoli has had to create all his own chances this season while carter half asses it thru the games. I waited for him to put more effort it but its clear that he just reverted to columbus jeff carter. Dejardins also needs to keep leipsic on the 4th line where he should be, no more top 6 bs. Reasonable to argue Toffoli has been the best of the 2nd line this year even tho he is not having a good season by any means. Hope they do somehow get duchene tho

LA fans aren't going to like the return from most of their veteran pieces, Quick, Carter and Brown won't bring in the haul fans will want.</div></div>
Svech wont be part of that trade already said that so we are in agreement. Quick will net a good return, Carter at an all time low for trade Value, Brown will be a lifetime King. People who think Kopitar, Doughty, Brown, or Clifford are going anywhere dont know what theyre talking about

Considering Andersen got a first and a second... Quick will net a much better return as he is a much better goalie on a low AAV contract for an elite Goalie

Krug
this is not necessarily on you, but i keep seeing people trading clifford for smith pelly and its absolutely not happening and i dont understand why people A. think its a good trade B. the reasoning behind it. theres 2 problems with it:
1. Kings will never trade Clifford. Hes been on the big club since he was 19 and hes still only 27 right now. They drafted him because his attitude and motor are what they wanted to see out of every player on their team. you would be hard pressed to find a 4th liner that an NHL team values more than the Kings and Clifford.
2nd. If they were to trade clifford it would be for something that any GM would be fired for (ex. a top line winger for cliffy and a 4th rounder which would never happen). Clifford would never be traded for a bottom 6 winger ESPECIALLY when Clifford is better than Smith-Pelly. Hes better in just about every aspect of the game so why would you want to get worse? The Kings dont need to shed 600k that badly.
Again, its not necessarily your fault as many people on here saw whoever posted it first and used it too. Bottom line, he aint going anywhere anyone close to the Kings will tell you that

Quick by himself gets a return of a high end prospect, a roster player, and a high pick and thats not even counting that they get toffoli and forbort and dump darlings contract

trade deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bf3351</b></div><div>You're trading away all of our best players not named Doughty, Kopitar, and Brown..</div></div>
Thats what happens when your best players are all over the age of 32 and the team is in last place. its time to let our young guys take over and let Kopi brownie and drew teach them how to win. Give Brownie a letter again as he rightfully deserves. Try and keep guys in their prime who have won like Toffoli and clifford around along with lewis for secondary leadership. Also this lineup does not include who most people expect the kings to land which is Jack hughes among the other draft picks they get. this lineup gets even better with him in it.

next year
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Eli</b></div><div>Muzzin, Martinez, Carter and Quick deals look reasonable.
If you're dealing a 35 year old healthy scratch on a $19M contract, without retaining any of his salary, you have to actually include a first round pick. You don't get one back for that. There is a salary cap.
Kovalchuk and Ovechkin each play the left point on the power play. Ovechkin is doing fine there. The Caps have eight forwards with at least as many points as Kovalchuk this year. They have nine with more points/60 than Kovalchuk this year. So Kovy logically slots in at 3L, PP2.
They do have two really good Russian forwards, and adding someone who finished in the top 15 in points in the KHL last year would be huge at the deadline....... so that's why they've got Sergei Shumakov playing with their AHL affiliate in Hershey, at $1M, waiting for a call-up. Shumakov is 26 years old. If Shumakov doesn't work out this year and they want a different Russian RW next year, the Caps still have NHL rights to Stan Galiev, who was 5th in the KHL last Spring in playoff points. Or of course, Gusev hits UFA in July. Any of those guys, on Ovechkin and Kuznetsov's line, could be as good as 35-38 year old Kovalchuk.
Ilya Kovalchuk is an all time great, but the contract LA gave him is a blunder. If the term were one year, sure, it'd be worth a 1st at the deadline. But he's signed until he turns Brooks Orpik years old.
How about: Kovalchuk at 50%, Iafallo, and Luff, for Burakovsky, Dowd, Gustaffson, and Mitchell?
Or if you noticed that the Caps might think they're contenders and you want to know what they need, their penalty kill has been inconsistent this year. You can get a 1st, Burakovsky, Kempny, and any forward prospects you want off them for Kopitar.</div></div>
The only reason i didnt have retained salary was because it wasnt working for me. I knew id catch some trash for that but the general idea of Kovy to WSH was the point. Although i know most people (including me if i didnt make this) would correct this as soon as they saw it

Phaneuf for Alzner

as a kings fan id take this trade. Alzner will be 33 (how old dion is right now) when his contract runs out and is on a less AAV term than dion. I loved dion his whole career and was stoked to see him come to LA but he just looks old and slow and cant control the puck anymore. Still brings it in the hits column and has a nice clapper but for LA, Alzner makes more sense for a bad contract
