fair enough appreciate the response. only thing is he'll be an RFA so hed be somewhat stuck with them as long as they match an offer (which they would)

also +/- i could care less about in a 3 game stint this team is awful it doesnt mean he was bad on defense and didnt score either

Why Trade Toffoli
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wqrrior</b></div><div>II definitely don't see this team as having the #1 prospect pool. No stand out guys besides Turcotte. Mostly just guys capped at 2nd line. And even as a top 5 prospect pool, there's a pretty high chance a percentage of them don't work out and or the team taking a while to rebuild. My own team in Vancouver serves as an example. We had the #1 prospect pool for years and still took 5 years to get to even talking about the playoffs, nevermind being competitive.</div></div>
Vilardi and Kaliyev not first line guys??? Kupari and fagemo are tweeners but sheeeesh u cant say that vilardi and kaliyev are 2nd line players

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>I think that Vilardi has lost a year in his development, so he, Fagemo, Kaliyev and Kupari start the year in Ontario.
I hope that Turcotte spends another year in college.
Toffoli gets moved and not re-signed.
Brown, Carter and Quick are unmovable.</div></div>
i dont think carter is immovable, the other two probably but think the kings wouldnt mind them staying around as much because they have been here for so long and are good locker room/character guys to have around the young kids

prokhorkin and grundstrom defintely could be top 6. Kempe needs to put the puck in the net more if he ever wants to escape the 3rd line. I like kempes skill but man its frustrating to watch him not score consistently (besides when he plays montreal lol)

Kings 2021-22 Finalizing a rebuild
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tkecanuck341</b></div><div>If the Kings get a top 5 pick in the draft, they should select a winger, not a defenseman. Aside from maybe Kaliyev, the Kings have no top-line capable wingers in the pipeline. Meanwhile, the Kings have Doughty and Walker at RD for the foreseeable future with Durzi only a couple years away.
Here's my draft pick preference in order:
Lafreniere
Byfield (not a winger, but unanimously considered the 2nd best player in the draft)
Perfetti
Holtz
Raymond
If they miss on all of those, then they can consider taking a defenseman, as there's a substantial drop off in talent before the next winger.</div></div>
me personally i wanna trade for pesce cause i agree there arent enough good D in this draft

personally i dont, i can see a second for campbell straight up from a contending team needing a cheap young and good backup (cough cough toronto) or if its a 3rd and a C or maybe low B level prospect. i think theyll look for a second from a team that is expecting to have a late second

eventually
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PuckLuck_77</b></div><div>When all is said and done, I think your trade values are close. I don't like the NYI trade, because with significant retention (think 50%) on Kovalchuk, they shouldn't need to get rid of an NHL player to get something in return. In an up-tempo, offensive based team, he still has something to give. He still has the wheels to play, and is top 4 in scoring on the Kings so far, on pace for over 45 points on the year. I also address the Carter/Martinez trade in a moment in response to another poster. One more thing you'll need to think of is that bringing up Peterson means leaving the net in Ontario to a goalie who has had extremely little experience playing professionally (Kehler). The Kings are significantly invested in making sure the young core of Kupari, Bjornfot, Anderson, JAD, Clague, Durzi, etc get used to and develop winning ways. They aren't going to throw that team to the wolves by not bringing back a capable starter to play for Ontario in at least one of the trades they make.
Carter has come out and said that "retirement" rumor was false. He's been a consummate pro his whole time in LA. I doubt that would change. I don't think MTL wouldn't be the team the Kings would send him to though. He'll have some say in where he goes, just because the organization will respect his wishes. In addition, adding Martinez (who, by himself and with no retention, should bring in at least a 2nd round pick) into the trade seems to be bad asset management. Alec Martinez at $2mil cap hit would be a steal for any team, and is worth more separately than the loss of Carter's cap hit, at least in my opinion. The Kings don't expect to be all that competitive for the next few years, and they aren't in a cap bind. So they shouldn't feel strong-armed into giving away assets to get out of contracts.
Ugly D to be sure. But, honestly, Sean Walker has been one of the best King's stories thus far this season. He's proving to be a legit #2 RD. Hutton has also been relatively solid. Although, thilk has it right when he says its going to be a bit rough until Bjornfoot, Anderson, and Durzi come up and round out the pairings.</div></div>
well said on all of them. ya i get what youre saying about Kovy i personally still think he has a lot more to give on a team where he plays more powerpaly and 5v5 than he does with LAK. if people watch the games he gets good time on both hes still a contributer. no offense to him because ive loved lizottes play this year but playing with kempe or lizotte wont get him (or toffoli for that matter) the looks that a playoff teams second line center would. in regards to carter/martinez trade i agree with you that martinez on a 2 mil contract would be a steal. people on this site freak out when carter is traded for anything more than a 4th rounder while also having to retain salary (which is not good value for the kings but most people on this site clearly dont watch and only look at stats).
thanks again for ur input!

As for hutton it will depend on forbort they will move on of them. I just made a few trade proposals. I love hutton and i was kind of shocked that vancouver left him go. There might be something about him that we don’t know maybe is a party animal or have anger issues I don’t know but he play good hockey for sure</div></div>
i feel like if they get a first for toffoli it will be because they retain salary so CAR doesnt have to give up a roster player. Kings wouldnt mind doing that because theyll get a higher return and they only have to retain this season because he is a UFA. probably be retaining around 50% to spice up the deal

u cant trade everyone even in "absolute" rebuild. those two have NMC and kopi wont sign off to go anywhere and the only place doughty might would be TOR but they got not cap room. those two are the leaders thats why theyre captain and alternate u cant just throw all young guys out with no leadership and expect them to magically gel.

I dont understand how anyone can think he is the worst contract in the nhl...mind boggling hes not even close. and people who think he is also dont understand his actual salary will plummet as the contract continues making it easy to buy him out or get a team trying to rebuild and save actual $ to take him. not even close to the worst contract. a former king who just got traded to the flames is actually in the running if you catch my drift

i can name about 10 players easily slower just on the other california teams...also to say hes not good at all anymore is laughable the guy plays more PK minutes than any other top 9 forward in the league and still scores 20+ goals and 60 points in his sleep. he may not be flashy but clearly thats ur standard of "good player"
