(SJS/VGK) - Hertl, 2025 3rd (SJS), 2027 3rd (SJS) for Edstrom, 2025 1st (VGK)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ARMCHAIRGMOFTHEYEAR</b></div><div>Most 1st rounds picks become only 3rd liners. Not a bad thing. If Edstrom can become an everyday NHLer (like a Laughton) that's a good result for him and San Jose... I should note he's even improved in his DY+1.
You have to acknowledge, Hertl's value was never going to be much higher than this. They essentially got 2 firsts for someone of no value to their rebuild.</div></div>
They gave up two 3rds though and are retaining for 6 years. They said to themselves "Lets just move up 60 picks once and throw away a pick in the 3rd, but also retain for 6 years. We'd like to pay to see this guy play against us. Preferably a division rival."
We need cap to hit the floor now.
So what are we going to do? Go overpay people. Add more overpaid contracts which is the "problem" with Hertl's apparently. Except it wasn't.
Also, the Sharks have enough 3rd and 4th guys. We don't have a top center. Which is what we just lost.
It's a joke. The EK trade is a joke. The Meier one was. The Burns one was. He loses. He loses trades. Grier sucks.

2 high 3rd going out, 2 low 1st coming in.
Basically upgrading only one full round, twice. This is not valuable at all. Clearly not worth a 1C and/or $8M of retained salary

Excellent get for the Rangers, might get more out of him in the bottom 6 of a contender.

I really like Beauvillier, and so does Trotz. Getting a guy with that kind of upside for a 5th is very good for the Preds

Chicago got Anthony Beauvillier for just over 20 games and in exchange, they went DOWN in the draft. On the other hand, I wasn't expecting more given his performance in Chicago, so fair trade.
Anthony Beauvillier played worse in Chicago than in Vancouver, despite getting better ice time. What happened?

I'd certainly think so. Bunting is still there, Hyman likely is too. Depth wins Championships, and Toronto has always been top heavy.

And then Treliving gave Nylander pretty much the same contract (but a year longer) at the same age Tavares was when they signed him. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

Perrault is a bust plain and simple, whoever says he’s good has never watched him play a game of hockey in their life, he’s lost and has no hockey sense.

There’s hardly a fleece possibility in an AHL swap. Mysak isn’t very good either.

Fair change of scenery deal for 2 struggling prospects.

Sure, Mysak is kinda stuck behind guys like Rohrer, Kapanen, Beck, etc, we have an excess of centre prospects and Perreault has a lot of potential.
I think overall, this is a fair deal, maybe slight advantage to Montreal

I prefer this for the Ducks because I really like Mysak, but Perrault is no slouch and is also from Quebec which is always a plus for the Habs. I think value wise this is probably fair, and both guys needed a change, but i think Mysak will be better for the Ducks than Perrault would have been. Still really like this for the Habs though

Oh wow. I like it as a MTL fan. Mysak is going to be a bottom 6 NHLer at the absolute best. Probably is more likely to be a forever tweener. Perreault is certainly boom or bust at this point but has a higher ceiling so its decent gamble. Habs need more high end guys and less of what they have in Laval right now.

Fair deal, but I'm bias so I'm going Montreal
Montreal - Perreault has finishing ability, with legit middle 6 potential.
Anaheim - Mysak is a PKing bottom 6 projected center.
Both still very young, and the sky is the limit. Mysak wasn't ever going to be given a legit shot in Montreal, where Perreault will.

This is a tough one. Ever since his hit on Byram two years ago. I didn't like him. But with that said, the avs need some snarl. Manson is really the only guy left with some snarl. With him and Mackinnon. But both were so important to our cup win. That I don't want to see either in the box in the playoffs. Duhaime brings that snarl. He brings that mean. And that'll help come playoff time. It'll take some time for me to cheer for him in an avs sweater. But it'll come.

I Voted Fair Deal, but COL could easily be the Winner, especially if he re-signs with them
Duhaime seems underrated from what I can tell. He can put the puck in the net and deliver a ton of hits for the very little ice time he gets. He’s got a Big Body and can Kill Penalties too. Good Addition for the Avalanche imo
A late 3rd that probably doesn’t turn in to an NHL Player for a Young + Experienced + Useable = Actual NHL Player they can likely re-sign for cheap is nothing AFAIC

Kind of a steep price for what Duhaime is, but he will be a great addition to that bottom 6. Ive always been a fan of Duhaime, he's defensively capable and moves nicely. His first NHL goal always puts a smile on my face too, has to be one of the best 1st goals of all time
