Here's the comparison for hockey-impaired. Matheson has grossly outperformed Brodie this year.
Matheson has 7G/14A/21P and is on pace for 11G and 34P
Brodie has 3G/9A/12P and is on pace for 21P, the same amount points Matheson has already hit.
Now on to the underly stats where Matheson basically embarrasses Brodie. ENJOY!
Don't mind the red line. That's just where the cursor landed. Wasn't trying to emphasize anything there.

Brodie's day of being really good are gone. He's still solid, but he's not what he was. People can't let go of what Matheson used to be and hey, that's their problem for not knowing hockey. You can't fix stupid.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>vr1995</b></div><div>but you go on points and nothing else, brodie plays the tougher minutes, against the superior opponents, plays PK, and is on the ice protecting a lead down 6on5, matheson is on the third pair and plays no special teams hes way better defensively, its not close</div></div>
Is it my fault Sully wont play him on the PP? We played Philly and Matheson was on the PP for one shift and scored a goal. Also you do realize Brodie is averaging 20:56 TOI and Matheson in averaging 18:15. What else is funny is that Matheson plays 3rd pair and Brodie plays 1st pair. Brodie also has a 53.2 oZS% meaning he has been on the ice for more offensive plays than Matheson has with a 50.7 oZS% (Might be because he plays on the first pair but idk). Shall I add to this or are we gonna end the arguement there? Cause we both know were not gonna change each other's minds

Pens don’t need a 5’9 wing that doenst hit in Hoglander. I think they could do better for Kappy and Pettersson.
I like Dickinson. Hate Poolman for the money and term(2.5M for 4 more years). Same with Hamoric at 3M for this year and next; I guess with 50% retention and at 1.5M is good. He’s injury prone though and won’t move from the west coast. I would rather Ruhwedel at 750K though.
Pens would be losing cap space with this trade..lol. Plus giving up Hallander. You can take Maniscalco.

Pittsburgh isn't paying a 1st rounder for a passenger on a Taveres Nylander line. Kerfoot still has the same value he had last year. Little.

Preparing for a Playoff Run Next Year
Since December 2nd, Ottawa is 16th OA in P%. It's not great yet but that's pretty close to playoffs worthy. Actually, only 7 Eastern teams have had a better P% since.
They need to find a way to not sabotage themselves early
That being said, no idea if they can make the playoffs next season, need to see what their owner/management does first
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Commonsense27</b></div><div>They need a decent goalie to make the playoffs.</div></div>
Since March 15th :
Matt Murray : 0.926 SV%
Anders Forsberg : 0.913 SV%
Filip Gustavsson : 0.908 SV%
Note that Ottawa was horrible defensively early this season (before December 2nd so about the first 20 games). Covid didn't help as they were the first team to be hit hard with the Isles.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Sr_Advisor_Hockey_Ops</b></div><div>. OK how about this revised proposal? Ottawa trades 30-year old Nikita Zaitsev (retain $1m. so 2 years left at $3.5m) + Ottawa 2022 2nd Rd pick + Max Guenette for 31-year old David Savard (3 years $3.5m). Montreal keeps Byron.</div></div>
Why would the Sens give up POSITIVE assets (Guenette + 2nd) for a D-man that is as bad as Zaitsev but signed 1 more year?
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pharrow</b></div><div>why because they have a few more points this year.
OTT has a lot more talent yet to hit the ice, and it's much higher end talent than what will hit the ice for DET.
OTT is much further along in their rebuild than DET.
Hell DET can't even keep talent. Looks like Bertuzzi is half foot out the door from everything I've seen.</div></div>
People have no idea about Ottawa since covid and injuries has prevented a lot of young guys to "get more reps" but Norris and Batherson have had time to show what they can do. Tkachuk and Chabot are well known already. Formenton is currently showing himself. Stutzle is just starting. Sanderson, Greig and Pinto are coming
Ottawa had the best U-25 talent group in the NHL at the start of the season and it will show in the near future. They also have the worst management and ownership though so I'm never 100% confident that they're not going to screw things up (like Dorion basically did the last 2 off-seasons)

You clearly don't follow the Pens enough to realize Rutherford is no longer our GM and Hextall is the polar opposite, so not only do the Pens decline, that return for Toffoli is obscene.

NHLs Super Sixteen
The thing with Dallas is not that they improved, it's that a lot of injured players will return healthy. They almost made the playoffs with an AHL squad with some NHL'ers. Players like Segs and Rads are returning and that would technically be our adds.
Realistically I see them finishing from 3rd to 5th. Anything bellow should lose Nill and Bones's job.

the other Im assuming is talking about Judd CAULFIELD a college teammate (and PITT draftpick) of Weatherby. (another long shot).
now both go to the box for 2 minutes and feel shame.

With Aatu Raty still on the board, I would have wanted Carolina to take him, but I trust the guys that scout full-time for Carolina to get some great talents early in the 2nd. More picks fairly early in a more random draft than usual has to be a win.

It will be interesting to see what Ron does. The plan can't be to build through the draft. That I do know. They simply don't have time for it. But one thing is certain. As long as they don't rope themselves into any long term deals. They can totally rebuild this team in the next 2 years. There is a huge amount of cap coming off the books next season, and the season after that you got 3 forwards signed and 3 defensemen, one of which they probably move. So IF they are going to rebuild the team, in two years it could look completely different.</div></div>
this might be an unpopular opinion but i think they go after getzlaf. he's a physical forward who can play a carter type role. he and burke have some history and getz was linked to pit before the TD. his underlying numbers aren't too bad either. if he comes at 2M or under they should do it

Of course I highly doubt Seattle would take him. 30 year old midget defenseman who gets 6+ million till he's 35.
That's a bad contract and that's all there is to it.</div></div>
I know Army hates NMC contracts, but I'll say it again, he could have paid Pietrangelo $8 mil to do the same job as Krug/Faulk do for a combined $13 mil. One of the most boneheaded moves by Army in recent history. He's an overrated GM,but because he has a cup to his name he'll be thought of as much better than he really is.

This is probably an unpopular opinion here but I think this is a bit much.
Not by a crazy amount or anything, but Carlo is a solid but 1-dimensional #4 getting paid like a top4 Dman.
It's just one of those deals that's a bit too much for a bit too long.

This is far from realistic. The pens aren’t trading Blueger for mid-late picks. He is either being selected by Seattle or will be part of the team. The pens aren’t exposing Pettersson nor are they trading anything to get rid of a bigger contract. Pettersson is one of only 3 dmen worth protecting as there is no need to protect Matheson as his contract protects himself. And honestly if they took Matheson then I’d bet the org would be happy.
