Horvat and Coyle would set up the 1-2 C position for the foreseeable future, especially with Bergeron and Krejci getting on in years, and even keeping either of them on 1-2 year contracts can help the transition.</div></div>
Would rather just keep our stacked D then improve an offence that is currently top 2 in the league, and possibly screw over our top 4.
If B’s choose to upgrade all they need is a stronger middle 6 forward we don’t need to go all out.
Nyquist/ roslovic guys like that are more in bruins price range and would solidify our forward core.
Also highly doubt horvat takes a super team friendly deal in Boston he has no ties to us and will 100% cash in on this overproducting contract year he is having, just like every late 20/ early 30 yr old player does

EK summer trade
Bobrovsky for Erik Karlsson is dead in the water.
Bobrovsky isn't leaving no tax Florida for high tax California, So he doesn't waive. And it's 3 years of Bobrovsky for 4 years of Karlsson. Florida can't afford that.

what do they need
Agree - bottom 6 forward for this playoff run. Potential targets: Acciari, Tierney, Bjustad, Sturm, and Blackwell.
Parayko would be a nice get, but it would mean giving up Carlo (getting Older at D) and being tighter to the cap. I don't think its necessary.
Trade Reilly to clear cap space in the offseason and let Smith walk.
Extend:
- Bergy (Bring him back next year on a similar contract; low cap hit with bonuses up to $5M in total value)
- Pasta (Give him whatever he wants at this point - anything less than $11M will be a discount).
- Clifton (Give him a deal around $3M AAV)
- Frederic (Bridge deal at around $2M AAV)
- Zacha (4 years at $4M AAV)
- QOs for McLauglin, Lauko, Swayman, and pretty much all of our other RFAs with any value
Projected Lines Next Year:
Marchand-Bergy-Debrusk
Hall-Zacha-Pasta
Frederic-Coyle-Lysell
Lauko-McLaughlin-Beecher
Grz-McAvoy
Lindholm-Carlo
Forbort-Clifton
Tough decision might be coming though with Grz... he could become a cap casualty. I think Clifton has been better than Grz this season and would rather extend him.

Toews
Good proposal, maybe the 3rd is unnecessary. Toews has to agree to waive and he won't do that indiscriminately so I think that might limit the return.
Ignore the many people on here who insist JT has no value. He's actually still playing really well, but his style doesn't offer a lot of value on a tanking team. On a Cup contender he's got a ton of value.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pbesner30</b></div><div>I am confident that Toews would waive his NMC for Winnipeg because he is from Manitoba. He would probably like to finish his carrer at home (I don't know his preferences, but it is common in the hockey world). I agree WIN could include another prospect, but Heinola made sense for me because he wanted a change of scenery no so long ago.</div></div>
Oh absolutely! I brought that up because I think WPG would have an advantage there if he really wanted to play at home. That would limit the options and perhaps we could get him for a little less than a regular market.

Don’t see the logic in that for Vancouver. They already have too many wingers, moving a Horvat for another one makes no sense

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>njlaforte</b></div><div>No. Wayyyyyyy to much value going to Chicago. Towes is worth a first max with retention, not a first and heinola.</div></div>
A 2023 1st for Tazer half retained is fair and the Hawks would accept that. Nothing else needed. And I have to think Toews would be thrilled to play in his home town.

The 3rd round pick is there for the retention so Heinola+1st is the value for Toews. To me it seems kinda fair because WIN's pick is gonna be late.</div></div>
I agree that Toews would bring a lot to any team! It will depend how much interest he gets at the deadline but you also have to remember that he has full control over where he goes which could limit a return as well. I would be willing to give up a 1st along with a lesser prospect but not a 1st and one of our top prospects like Heinola.

Where does Mike Reilly end up
Even if, perchance, your premise worked, I doubt Columbus would be part of it. For one, we've already got a ton of offensive-oriented LHDs. For another, Mike Reilly is no longer welcome in Columbus after stringing the franchise out saying "no, I'm totally going to sign, you guys took a chance on me by drafting me and I appreciate that" and then bolting via the college free agency loophole at the last minute.

Only way B’s trade Pasta is if they are out of it at deadline. And he flat out tells them he’s leaving.
If so replace Puju and 2nd with 1st and mid level prospect.
I fully expect he re-signs though.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pbesner30</b></div><div>I agree with your trade proposal but I highly doubt Boston enters a rebuild if they trade Pastrnak. It seems like Sweeney blocked this possibility by signing McAvoy and Lindholm to 8 years deal each. Plus it's not in the Bruins DNA to tear down and rebuild. They always try to put the most competitive team on the ice each year.</div></div>
not necessarily. B's did go through a retool in 2014-15, 2015-16 while still having a top 20 dman chara, a top 30 dman krug, prime marchand/ bergy/ krech/ rask
they moved quite a lot of assets that had value for picks and prospects and then with the available cap they had went hard in UFA while also being able to develop some young guys during their 2 year no PO stint
so to think B's wouldn't take 2 years off and try to hit on one of the big centers these next 2 UFA's and then give some more ice team to younger guys to try and get something out of them isn't out of the realm of possibilites even if we keep Pasta. if we move pasta that just speeds up our retool slightly faster as we could acquire 2-3 big assets+ a few minor ones that could be future depth guys

No from Boston. Value is perfectly fine but it’s the assets that are the issue. Namely, Puljujarvi. If the Bruins are to trade Pastrnak, it’s to begin the rebuild. And thus, Lysell or some other Right Wing prospect would be able to fill the role of Pasta in the top six instead of bringing in someone older. I know Pulju is still fairly young but you can see where I’m coming from. If the Oilers were to get Pasta, here’s a trade I could see happening:
Oilers get: Pastrnak at 50% retention
Bruins get: Dylan Holloway, 2023 First Round Pick, Warren Foegele (for cap), and a B level prospect or 2-3 round pick

You're right about Debrusk. Oilers don't have the money. They would need to move alot out. They want to sign Kane and they have a few RFAs to deal with. Maybe if Keith retired but can't see it.

Scheifele
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>YourWinnipegJets</b></div><div>If Scheif is traded there is most likely a young prospect with a high ceiling coming back in the deal. Lysell would have to be in the deal probably over Studnicka</div></div>
I don’t necessarily agree. Jets expect to be a cap team next year and compete. They have a clear need of a top 4 RHD. A scheifele for Carlo/1st deal is almost exactly what they need to do. If they feel Perfetti can jump into that 2C role or even stastny, I feel like they could pull the trigger on it. I’d love to have maybe a scheifele + 2nd for Carlo/Lysell type deal but no way Boston goes for that.
It’s going to be really hard to get a top 4 RHD and a promising young prospect like lysell. Only chance of that is taking a lesser RHD to be able to also obtain a promising prospect. If the jets were planning on rebuilding I’d agree with you though.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ON3M4N</b></div><div>No, he's not the center Boston needs.</div></div>
I think he’s exactly the C Boston needs. Boston needs a true 2C. Scheifele is better than a 2C, scheifele behind Bergeron really solidifies bostons forward core. Not to mention the leaps and bounds scheifele would make learning from Bergeron. Bergeron and Kassidy could transform scheifeles game. I see it working out very well for Boston. Scheifele is an offensive dynamo and would work wonders with hall on the 2nd line.

Scheifele only 29. With Pastrnak/Marchand/Mcavoy/Lindholm/Swayman and one more year of Bergeron the window is not closing. Scheifele takes over once Bergeron retires. Lysell almost ready also. Bruins biggest need is Center.

B’s fans will hate the idea of Carlo and a 1st for Scheifele. I think it’s quite close to fair. Bergeron would be an incredible mentor for Scheifele and could transform his defensive game.
