lol Lucic at 6 mil is not a "solid NHL ready player" that would be a Pulljujarvi Nurse or Yammamoto.
not to mention the trade is awful anyways.
a cap dump in Lucic a no name prospect and a top 10 first for Zucc and Namestikov....

Holtby take
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>A_K</b></div><div>My question is to Caps fans: how can you be certain that Grubauer can handle a starting role? All these trade offers remind me of when CHI fans were going wild trading Crawford at peak value and replacing him with Darling. Now Darling is seriously underperforming and getting paid 4.15m for 3 more years. And CHI blows bc they lost Crawford to injury.
I think you're lucky to have Holtby - he's consistently a great starter and he's having a down year which he will almost undoubtedly bounce back from. It might be better to trade Gruby - he's at peak value right now and he could be someone else's problem at 3.5m x 4 years if he can't handle the starting job. Then, Samsonov replaces Holtby if he's ready.</div></div>
Not saying I disagree and I am not a caps "fan' but just wanted to show a realistic value for him.

NYR trade at draft
NYR have three 1st round picks already, I think they would be more willing to trade away one of those 1st rounder to either move up in the draft or to get a solid NHL ready player.

Dont need to be a Chicago fan to know this is a bad trade. Pacioretty a 1st and a prospect would have to be coming back. Or Patches and Galchenyuk for Toews and like a depth forward.

Slightly underpaid JVR and Kane and majorly underpaid Carlson. Also why would DET trade away Addelkader for Vanek when they can just sign him themselves?

CAR-NSH...your opinion?
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Nik_SH</b></div><div>Did you think that Shea Weber could leave Nashville?...
That's why such deals can happen, it is NHL, this is David Poile :D
*But I'm not sure about the balance of the exchange, so I ask people's opinion.</div></div>
Nashville wins this trade, it makes no sense for CAR to give up Rask and Teräväinen for Bonino Smith and a pick . Rask and Tera are younger and much better than those two. And then Subban is not that much better than Faulk to outweigh how much better Rask and Tera are than Smith and Bonino.
If CAR trades Faulk it will be for a center. Like a RNH or Galchenyuk or someone like that.
Essentially -
Bonino < Rask by a decent amount
Smith < Tera by a lote
Subban > Faulk by a little
plus Trenin and a 4th...
the 3rds are pointless and wash.

Kovalchuk possibilities
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HawksFan28</b></div><div>The NHL just added a franchise, the salary cap is based on league gross revenue ... It's going up to at the very least 82...
I mean the cap went up 3 last season all on it's own without the extra team. You better believe Vegas added significant revenue this season - especially given how well they've done this season...
Don't be shocked when the NHL announces the cap will be 83.5 this summer....
Vegas attendance record this season is 103.6% which is a sellout ever night..... That is a very strong economic indicator..... Vegas is adding a significant amount of revenue..... So the cap is going up quite a bit.</div></div>
I understand the metrics, they have already announced that the Cap will raise to 78-82 mil next season. Unless they re-evaluate and come out and say it could be more I am going to stick with this amount.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HawksFan28</b></div><div>I think signing Kovalchuk would be a good idea, however I highly doubt Hossa will play next season and the cap is going up to 82-85 next season.
I would love Hossa to return, but only at 100% and at his age the chances of him returning at Hossa form at 39 are almost impossible..... I think he's done.. I guess anything could happen but if he was 35 I would be a bit more optimistic but at 39 he's probably done.</div></div>
I agree Hossa is probably done allowing CHI to bring in Kovy pretty easily. But the cap is going up to 78-82 next year so I chose the middle at 80.

Probably the best option offensively outside of Tavares. Case could be made for JVR, but I think the Blues would really benefit from a RHS on the PP.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MajesticWalrus</b></div><div>Wrong! Stecher is our best defender in my opinion. Juolevi should be good. Pouliot is good and this thread didn't even resign him. Holm and Subban were also great for us but then Bennington seems to like to trade his all star Ahlqvist defenseman for scraps. By the way this thread is horrible. Stecher should be on our top pairing. Beige shouldn't even be in the line up. Hutton shouldn't even be in the line up. Pouliot should be resigned and in the line up. Get rid of del zotto and put in juolevi. Trade gudbranson and sign someone better. Get rid of sutter, he's decent but not worth paying him that much to be a bottom Line guy. Sign gaudette to his elc. Kole Lind could possibly make the line up too, have you seen him? He looked NHL ready this past preseason... Right after being drafted. Now that's how you rebuild on the fly.</div></div>
The point was to show that VAN could afford Tavares while also keeping their current rostered players. Sorry I dont know all the prospects and who should be on what line.

True probably do not have quite the amount of ready players that Toronto did, but I just think the addition of Tavares would offset that.
Petterson Boeser and if Juolevi is ready, plus Tavares would be close to enough probably.
But again Tavares has to want to go there from the start either way. This is why I named it interesting landing spot.

Faulk to TOR
I do not see Carolina looking to add prospects/borderline NHLers I think they would want to do more of a 1 for 1 deal if/when they trade away a top Dman like Faulk or Hanifin.
More likely IMO is Faulk for Marner or at least like a Kapanen and a pick/prospect.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BluesBandit</b></div><div>I'm not sure Pittsburgh does that but they might, depending on how they view Thompson. We could definitely get more than that for Gunnarsson, probably a 3rd or 4th. I'd also swap Fabbri and Steen. Overall pretty good, I think people will be suprised at how low Tavares signs for. Looking at Stamkos's deal. McDavid is the future of the league so I don't think JT gets that kind of money.</div></div>
JT will go and get whatever he wants. If he wants more money he will get it from someone. But if he wants to win he will take a little less to go to a contender.
I would guess he gets about 12mil.
Also I think the Pitt would like Berglund or Sobotka as a 3C but probably would not want to give up Guentzal. Just do Berglund/Sobotka for a 1st or 2nd/prospect at the 2018 draft.

Stupid Karlsson trade yr 1
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hockeyplayer1</b></div><div>The Avs got a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, Shane Bowers (28th OA 2017 draft), Sam Girard (47th OA 2016 draft), Vladislav Kamenev (42nd OA 2014 draft), and Andrew Hammond an AHL goalie.
So the Avs got "a couple high end prospects" and a good 1st round pick in this years draft for Duchene with 2 year remaining on his contract.
That's not exactly Schmaltz (proven NHLer and likely top-6 career forward), Murphy (proven NHLer), "a couple high end prospects", and a 1st for Karlsson with 1 year on his contract.
While I'm not saying this is COMPLETELY unrealistic to pay for a player like Karlsson, I just don't see a team paying that when there is a good chance they can wait one year and get him for free.
In comparison to the Duchene deal, while taking into consideration that Karlsson is better BUT also only has only 1 year left on his contract, how about this:
Ryan Hartman, Dylan Sikura, Chad Krys, Artur Kayumov, and a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd?
Obviously the Hawks can't do that because they can't afford Karlsson without shedding cap, but that is essentially what the Duchene trade was.</div></div>
Karlssosn is much better than Duchene so the return will be the same structure but with better pieces.
