NYR have three 1st round picks already, I think they would be more willing to trade away one of those 1st rounder to either move up in the draft or to get a solid NHL ready player.

Its laughable that people dont realize that Lucic is going nowhere.... has a full NMC until 2021 *eye roll*

The only thing that’s solid about Lucic is his nose, which takes up 1/10 of his body. He’s no longer relevant in today’s NHL. He needs to find a way to become relevant again soon or his career’s down the toilet (at least that will fit in the toilet).

lol Lucic at 6 mil is not a "solid NHL ready player" that would be a Pulljujarvi Nurse or Yammamoto.
not to mention the trade is awful anyways.

a cap dump in Lucic a no name prospect and a top 10 first for Zucc and Namestikov....

Why would he waive his NMC to go to New York?? They are rebuilding and dont have Connor McDavid(which is a massive reason why Lucic signed in Edm). Plus hes from western Canada... youre playing too much NHL 18 man.

Agreed, He'll accept a deal to any team willing to treat him like an NHL player if Oilers are done with him. As for the Rangers, they are rumoured to be willing to deal a 1st round pick. But if they have a chance to draft twice in the top 10, during a rebuild, I see no issue with them adding this pick and trading the two lower picks if they want (I would personally trade up again, and fill the roster with UFAs (NY attracts players easily, why not?)

Personally, I like this trade more for New York than Edmonton, but I can see why both teams would do this.

not bad idea of trade but if nyr would take on lucic they would want a better prospect to go with and have at least 1m retained by edmonton but nyr would want that high pick

In case this was a little hard for you to find a few posts up > "Why would he waive his NMC to go to New York?? They are rebuilding and dont have Connor McDavid(which is a massive reason why Lucic signed in Edm). Plus hes from western Canada... youre playing too much NHL 18 man."

Applies to any other team. He wanted to come back home and be on a team with Connor McDavid. He's not just going to up and leave after two years, nor are the Oilers just going to bury him on the 4th line or healthy scratch him...

lmao, u are funny my friend. lucic is, at his worst a high end 3LW and generally a top line producer (before u laugh, look up literally any stat from before this christmas in his entire career). even if he continues to produce at a 2-3rd line rate thats much more valuable than marc staal who id argue is a 7th D at best...

because its New York... and unlike edmonton they wont be rebuilding for a decade. probably takes 2 years to get back to contender status.

Candy coat it all you want, while you're waiting for a xmas miracle, rest of NHL is looking into the future. Slow nutcracker for FIVE MORE YEARS is not a present! Staal is a solid 5 shutdown d that is way overpaid. Funny, yet not funny, when posters simply dump MAJOR TERM without taking term back. Cap world, NOT gonna happen! Ride out the storm. Like us with Staal, you shouldn't buyout till 2 years remaining, 19/20. Good luck with goon on the cap for 5-7 more short seasons.

Because it’s New York?
Wow great logic man.. every player wants to play in New York... pfff. Why wouldn’t he just have signed there in free agency then? And why can’t New York get any player they wanted in free agency if everyone wants to go there? Lucic has a wife and 2 kids... probably matters a bit in where he wants to live and play. Could be wrong though.... applaudderpapplaud
