Nashville wouldn't be the destination for Anderson. We have a lot of younger wingers with potential so it doesn't make sense to take on someone with 3 more years left on their contract who will be 30 when next season starts

Fair enough, but it looks like we just picked up Jaret Anderson-Dolan from LA so I'd assume someone is gone whether it's Gurianov or Jankowski to Milwaukee or Trenin to another team

Preds decline. Cernak is a nice piece and one the Preds would be excited to add, but not at the expense of Molendyk, who is the best defensive prospect we have.

That wouldn't surprise me I remember seeing somewhere Trotz mentioning he wants guys to learn how to win down there and bring that experience to the NHL.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gmgb</b></div><div>I've never really thought of Trenin as a streaky player, when it comes to scoring. I think it boils down to linemates and usage more than anything. Sure he produced more on the Herd line, but Hynes gave them a lot more opportunity to score. He usually used them as his starting line.</div></div>
Trenin has been very streaky his whole career. Just this year he had an 11 game span where he had 8 points of which 6 were goals. He then went on to only record two points in the next 20 games, not to mention he didn't record a point until the 15th game of the season. His scoring comes in bunches and then disappears for long stretches. Linemates and all that for sure has affected him, but he's always been like this. Even under Hynes and now under Brunette. Still a very reliable PKer and defensive forward just lacked the consistent scoring to make him someone worth trying to retain long term.

I don't see any of Sherwood, Gurianov or Jankowski returning much more than the 5th, so I don't see the point of going through the hassle of uprooting players for no gain. Trenin maybe, but what could Trotz realistically get for him? A 3rd and maybe a B-C prospect at most?</div></div>
Yeah I would think this means he's leaning towards trading Trenin and then it could be looked at more like Trenin + 5th for Beau + 3rd or whatever the return is for Trenin.
Love Trenin but I feel like he's probably asking for too much on his next contract. He's a great defensive forward, but the fact that he's so streaky when it comes to scoring it's hard to imagine signing him long term

Completely agree, this seems like he liked Beau from his time in NYI, and wanted to give him a chance here. It wasn't a big price to pay, but again blocks the path to the NHL for the talented guys in Milwaukee

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Just_A_Guess</b></div><div>Depending on the deal, Askarov may be available if you want to take a swing at that.</div></div>
Askarov absolutely is not available. The fanbase would turn on trotz so fast if he chose to ride with Saros and trade away one of the best goaltending prospects outside of the NHL. It's a no brainer that Askarov is the future of Nashville's goaltending. He's 21 and Saros is 28. As much as I love Saros, if we're trading a goalie it won't be Askarov

That offer is well below the reported asking price from Trotz, and at this point he won't trade Saros unless someone meets it. Saros will either be dealt in the offseason or they'll come to terms on an extension

It's more a conditioning thing than the system itself. Some of the older guys on the team frequently looked winded and slow earlier in the year adjusting to the pace of Brunette's system. Either way I don't think he's a fit for Nashville this TDL

Not really. It's headlined by Edmonton, Dallas, Vancouver, Vegas, and Colorado. Love the Preds none of these moves put us above them or even really on the same level. We've bounced back into the playoff picture because we haven't been changing our lines and our depth is clicking. The only thing I'd maybe add is a secondary scorer to replace Jankowski on the 2nd line, but not someone like Tarasenko who's a pure rental. Nashville exceeded expectations this year, and Trotz knows that. Part of the issue for me is also the time it's taken for players to get adjusted to Brunette's system. I don't think these rentals are going to be stepping into a situation where they'll be able to catch on immediately, and contribute in a meaningful way.

I'd be beyond stunned if Nashville spent this much at the TDL on rentals. Trotz is a 1st year GM, but he's not a moron. He won't be selling off so many futures the first year of his tenure

This is such a weird ACGM, especially when you consider the fact that the Predators are in a playoff spot so any player we sell has to get a good return otherwise they have more value as a rental we don't have to trade assets for.
I've got to imagine Carrier retained could get a better package if Nashville is selling. The 2nd is a good base, but an ECHL center, who probably tops out in the AHL is not the type of prospect we'd need to get back.
Trenin should fetch more than that. At least a 3rd I'd imagine
The Barrie swap is whatever, he has no real value anymore, and the return for dumping him shouldn't matter all that much
I wouldn't give a 5th for Zucker let alone a 3rd as well.
We don't need to tie ourselves to another overpaid 5-6 dman in Peeke.
Nashville has depth and should not be buying anything other than some secondary scoring, and preferably a player with term.

I don't think Fabbro gets traded unless Nashville has an immediate replacement. He's playing on the top pair with Josi and his numbers have looked good since he's replaced Barrie full time in the lineup

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Xspyrit</b></div><div>It would be doubtful to see Saros return the kind of return that Chychrun did, he's a goalie after all. Even if overrated and a down season, Chychrun should still have plenty of value. Hard to see a goalie having more value
He's not an offensive D-man, he has been a 2-way D-man all his career but defense in Ottawa is hard because it has been a mess under DJ Smith for so long. Chychrun has been affected by that like many other players on the team. JM who doesn't want a coaching job has been working on rectifying that and it partially worked so far. It's a long process that will take more than a few weeks
Not sure why you say "<em>Chychrun this year is closer to a 3-4 Offensive dman because he's been exposed playing top pairing minutes</em>". I mean, he has been leading the Coyotes in TOI/GP since 2020-21 when he was 22 y/o...</div></div>
I'm not saying Saros would get the return Chychrun did when Ottawa traded for him, but I am saying he currently has more value than Chychrun. But I'm also not saying Chychrun doesn't have value. Whether or not you think a goalie has more value, most teams would rather have a top 10 goalie than a defenseman who is probably not even top 50.
I said he was getting exposed playing top minutes because he's playing top pairing matchups too. Chychrun those years on the Coyotes was getting favorable matchups and not playing against their top lines. He also played on the power play, so yeah he had a lot of extra time on the ice. His play this year definitely points to him being an offensive guy. Until he corrects his defensive numbers my statement stands as true.
I don't get what is so confusing about my statement, I said this year, his Coyotes tenure doesn't apply to that statement. If any team traded for Chychrun and they were a true contender he'd be playing on the 2nd pair and getting favorable o zone deployment.
I'm not saying he's a bad player, but Saros has more value. Until Chychrun proves he can be a true top pairing guy then Saros has more value.

Offseason trade for Saros
I'd say in the offseason a trade for Saros would revolve around either a top end RD or C prospect and a 1st. The value and type of prospect would depend on where the pick falls in the 2024 draft, but considering Montreal picks around 7th I'd assume the trade Winnipeg's pick and a prospect. I think they'd ask for Reinbacher or Barron

Nashville declines both trades.
Our bottom six is fine and we're set on LD. We have depth in Milwaukee and don't need to be spending premium picks on depth for a playoff run in a year where we exceeded expectations and were considered to be retooling.
Guentzel is a good piece and one I could see the Preds being interested in, but not for that price. We don't need him retained our cap this year is fine. We'll also look to move Barrie, which should clear up another 2 mill at least. Nashville won't be buying big at the deadline unless they target someone with term. They certainly won't be giving up so many futures. Trotz has already said he's trying to balance looking to the future while not tearing down for a full rebuild, but staying competitive.

It would take an extreme overpay to get Carrier out of Nashville, not to mention in division and to a team we might face in the playoffs. The first is a good start, but I'd imagine you'd have to add someone to replace him in the lineup or a prospect.
