Our bottom six is fine and we're set on LD. We have depth in Milwaukee and don't need to be spending premium picks on depth for a playoff run in a year where we exceeded expectations and were considered to be retooling.

Guentzel is a good piece and one I could see the Preds being interested in, but not for that price. We don't need him retained our cap this year is fine. We'll also look to move Barrie, which should clear up another 2 mill at least. Nashville won't be buying big at the deadline unless they target someone with term. They certainly won't be giving up so many futures. Trotz has already said he's trying to balance looking to the future while not tearing down for a full rebuild, but staying competitive.

Even with an extension this is bad for Nashville. This year they were retooling and exceeded expectations. They won't be selling a large part of their future for a winger who will be 30 when the next season starts.

That doesn't make it better for NSH.


I'd do a 3rd max for Edmundson, but no interest in Dowd. A handful of meh assets bundled together doesn't Voltron them into a 1st.

But who wouldn't want to pay him that much money for that many years of the downside of his career, just to find out if he can play without Crosby?

He's slow, can't win a face off to save his life, and isn't he injured again right now? Even if he were free, I'd scratch Dowd and put either of Smith or Jankowski in the lineup ahead of him.
