The Sens are not getting back what they paid for Chychrun
Honestly idk if you'd even get this package for Chychrun. Mavrik Borque is a pretty great prospect, I'm not sure how easily Dallas would give him up

If there is even a tiny chance theyd trade him
I agree. If it's true that Calgary is listening to offers on Anderssen, the oilers should absolutely be willing to outbid everyone else.
I'm thinking a good package would be a 1st, Bourgault, Beau Akey, Ceci, and a conditional 2nd rounder that can turn into a 1st if the Oilers make it to the cup finals

The only one I can think of is the Marty St. Louis trade. This would definitely be one of the biggest trade deadline prices to pay ever. But every team is aware that Edmonton has immense pressure to win a cup, and guentzal is a perennial 40 goal scorer (or 40 goal scoring pace).

What would it take
It'd be like a team trying to trade for Dahlin, sure there's a price, but it'd be too high for any GM to be willing to do

Leave Silinger out of the deal and change one of Edmontons 2nd rounders to a 3rd rounder. I think both teams would be interested then

XHEKAJ TO EDMONTON PEARSON TO DETROIT
Edmonton already has too many left handed defensemen. Xhekaj would likely be 5th on the LHD chart. And it's not like they need his physicality, with guys like Kane, Perry, and Nurse already on the team. I'm sure the value is fair, but Edmonton wouldn't trade for a LHD any time soon

Don't mind that, doesn't have to be Maroon, the oilers just need a cheap player with 50% retention. The reason for the ACGM is the Calgary trade

How much would NJD have to add
Yikes... I think you'd have to add a lot. Dougie is unfortunately one of the most injury prone players in the league, and Columbus has way too many right handed defensemen and not enough left handed ones. I think in terms of value you'd have to add a top prospect and a 1st rounder

Edmonton Oilers signed Corey Perry (1 Year / $1,100,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PurpleHippo</b></div><div>It hasn't happened before cause most players earn up to their bonus and the teams normally don't see value in moving them.
If Brown, who to his credit has looked good along side Holloway and Mcleod the last 2 games, was playing to even a ~2.5 Mill player no team would trade him away given his current contract structure.
Guess we'll see what happens, I don't expect Holland to move him though.</div></div>
Hey, we can finally put an end to the question. In this 32 thoughts podcast Elliot Friedman gets asked the exact question of if earned bonuses can be traded with the player. His answer is pretty definitive: no you can't!

Celebrini team
Do you think Minnesota would be willing to retain a bit of Spurgeon's contract for a bigger haul? I think expecting any team to be interested in a 34 year old 7.5 million dollar player who keeps getting injured is a bit unrealistic. But maybe if the Wild retained a bit a team would pick him up at 5 or 6 million

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PurpleHippo</b></div><div>That's the actual dollar amount though, like what Brown puts into his pocket.
The cap hit is different based on what I've found and it states that it is a part of their contract which is moved on trades.
Not to argue, more so am genuinely curious where it's stated that bonus cap stays with the original signing team.</div></div>
I get your point, I can't find the exact rule either. I think the proof is that it's never happened before, contracts with bonuses have been traded before and the new team has never had to take the bonus cap hit the next season.
And if it was possible, I think every possible news article on the oilers would be suggesting we trade his bonuses away

Oilers would be crazy to trade Rodrigue, he's the best goalie prospect they've had in a long time and he's a similar age to UPL anyways.

Bonuses are always paid out where they're earned. Technically if Edmonton had a bunch of free cap space right now, Connor Brown's bonus could hit them this season.

If Shanny Had Brains
Detroit very likely wouldn't have traded Hronek to a division rival.
And I really don't think Edmonton would have had interest in Brodie. Thet were really targeting a specific type of player with Ekholm and Brodie is a very different defenseman. And you seem to be forgetting that the trade doesn't go through unless they dump Barrie's salary like they did with Nashville.

Multiple 1sts to move Campbell (assuming they can even find a partner)
Keep the 1st and lose valuable cap space with a buyout
Meet in the middle and trade one 1st for partial relief
Obviously nobody <em>wants</em> to pay to dump cap.
Once you're in this situation though, you have to do what it takes to prevent it from handicapping the team.</div></div>
In this scenario the Oiler are paying a 1st and a good young player to only save an additional 650k next year, 1.15 million the next, and 1.3 million the next. In my opinion, not a single team values that much savings at the cost of a 1st and a young player, even the teams that are contending
