That's only for 1 year, and they are also actually paying him 750 k. That should be factored in, teams like to make money. Plus Stamkos came off the books so you can still sign someone to play D with the difference in Stamkos and Serg cap hits. You obviously cant do math.

He's being paid 5.5 m and Mtl has like 9mm and your team is full of 18 year olds. Robertson would fit in good on the team, prob score 20 plus goals and if he doesn't he's cheap and you got out of a terrible contract with a player that is a passenger right now and doesn't really make sense.

No of course not, but Boston and Tampa are the teams he has the most games against. You say hes worth a bag of pucks so Im just debating your logic here. It's hard to score in the playoffs especially coming out of the Atlantic. Those are tight hard fought series. All of them could have broke the other way and people would be talking **** about how could you trade Marner for nothing. Teams evaluate outside of the media noise. I would be surprised if this is all they got if he agreed to a trade.

I honestly would like them to find a way to keep him. I think his "bad play" is over stated. I would chalk up the last 4 seasons poor performance in the playoffs to coaching, a terrible GM who put too much cash into the "skill" players. I honestly think if they run back the exactly same lineup with a different goalie and coach and play Boston they prob win easily. Now the emotion of losing is over its fun to tinker with different scenarios. It's almost impossible to win a Marner deal he's too good. Defense, Offense. Yes he could be better in the playoffs but its a team game and coaching is a big part of winning in the playoffs which is why certain coaches have done it the majority of the time.

I'll still pass with Tavares on the wing, the top-six should be set with O'Connor, Rust, Bunting and Rakell.</div></div>
I don't think you really have a say in the deal. What do you think your Captain would say if they brought in a JT to play his wing instead of one of those plugs. Bunting?? Really you think hes a top 6 player. Your delusional. This trade although far fetched because I doubt JT would accept a trade would be an absolute steal for the penguins to open up space next year if they miss the playoffs again. They liekly wouldn't however because any team with Malkin, Crosby and JT in the top 6 has a chance.

Mitchell Marner has 4 goals, 15 assists and a plus-minus of +12 in 13 games. Doesn't sound like a ghost to me? For reference Stamkos 4 goals, 4 assists and a plus-minus of -4 in 13 games Vs Toronto.
This is overblown by media and fans, the actual hockey people know what Mitch Marner is. Quote from Lightning head coach Jon Cooper praises Mitch Marner's ability to play both sides of the puck and says he's one of the smartest players the league has ever seen.

Those are some really bad moves. Your trading away a cost controlled 25 year old first round D man for a 3rd and then you trade a bonfied 100 point scorer plus for an often injured R D man. come on bro your fired before you start.

Ya I don't see it like that. Karlson didn't pan out and they missed the playoffs. JT can play the wing and gives this old team a proven forward that can help this season. If it doesnt work out at least its an expiring contract instead of 10mm for 2 more seasons. Also the penguins would basically get him for free as the bonus would be paid prior to the trade.

Why would we want to get rid of Kampf, he is a solid C3-C4 and provides some continuity. Playoff performer, big, great on faceoffs. Keep him hes a good price for a solid dependable C3.

not at all, I think Anderson is nice but he's not worth a game breaker like Marner, they have the new Arena coming and could use someone that would fill the seats. Janrock and Coleman are a wash player wise and they get two decent young players.
I mean sure these trades are never likely to happen but I wouldn't be shocked if you seen something like this.

Got to think this makes sense for the Pens getting out of Karlson's contract as it didn't work out and putting JT on Crosby's wing would make too much sense to me. This gives us a d man wo can run the Powerplay. The Calgary deal also is massive for the Flames as they get to rebuild their offense and still have plenty of picks after the deal. Getting a bonified superstar to replace Chucky and some depth to replace what was lost in the deal.

Look at all the players that leave Toronto and win. It isnt an individual that causes this team to lose its the culture, city and unfortunately the fans. Marner is elite as they come and like I mentioned before they do have a very good backend without Makar. I agree its far fetched that they would ever trade him due to his success but its hypothetical anyways. If Marner played on any other team he wouldn't be discounted like he is due to other fans hate of the leafs. Marner is a stud, so is Makar. Stranger things have happened.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>Never mind the fact that John Tavares has said he'll never leave Toronto . . . let's say he suddenly announced that he can't WAIT to leave Toronto. Why would we want a center when everyone in the hockey universe knows that what we need is a #2 LhD?!?
Let me put this another way . . . which is better for us: signing Anze Kopitar for another season after his current contract expires, which costs us nothing, or spending a big asset to acquire the same two seasons of John Tavares?</div></div>
Tavares can play the wing, thats where I would put him with Kopitar, if you run into an injury or need to win a faceoff you have options. The main driver of the trade is to get out of the extra 2 years of an 11mm albatross contract. JT only has two seasons, if LA doesnt win in the next 2 seasons they will be begging to trade doughty.

Ya if they say your waiving or sitting, you never know. I don't understand why people think that Tavares is unmovable he's well respected and a thirty goal guy. Maybe they don't move out doughty but his contract is alot longer then Tavares so maybe they decide it makes sense. I don't know why Washington would say no that's a steal for them and they want to go for it. Both are free agents after the year. I think for Toronto side its more about getting tougher on the back end. Deangelo trade is banking on the attitude and the firepower from the back end you take the bad defense with it, not sure I would pull the trigger on it without some cap savings but we need more assholes on this team.

Im not sure about that. Karlson Deal is 4 years and Tavares is only 2 years, whens the last time they had playoff revenues? Getting Brody's expiring deal and he can still play they have much more options for a young team. I mean all of these are hypothetical but its not crazy to swap a perennial 30 plus goal scorer for that anchor of a contract.
