(OTT/FLA) - Tarasenko for 2024 4th (FLA), 2025 3rd (FLA)
This is laughably bad for the Senators, they couldn't even pry a decent prospect out of Florida. I get that the trade protection on Tarasenkos deal allowed him to dictate where he went, but that doesn't change the fact that this trade is horrible. For crying out loud, Anthony Mantha cost the Knights more than this.
This is highway robbery for the Panthers who add another lethal offensive weapon to their already loaded forward group. At only 2.5m, he is going to be extremely valuable. If they want to buy more, they easily could (granted they don't have the money). This was a masterclass of a trade from Zito and a complete blunder by Staios

New Cookiegate
The site started prompting me to accept or reject cookies. If I reject cookies or "withdraw your consent," the menu at the top of the page stops working.
None of the dropdowns will work, the settings gear does nothing, etc. The only thing that seemingly works is the "Forums" link since there's no dropdown or dialog box. If I click "Change your consent" and then "Allow all" the menu options begin to work again.
I realize that it's probably better for the site if a user allows cookies, but not allowing them shouldn't completely break site functionality.
p.s. I actually had to change my cookie settings to "Allow all" just to be able to post this thread.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>kaljakori</b></div><div>Money is not terrible but personally I don't like this much term for middle-six guys. Sure, he's a big boy and just entering the prime years but still. As a guy who did not care for Ras most of his career, he is starting to find his game and coming into his frame much better. Most big guys like him take longer to find their game and utilize their size correctly it's sometimes hard to forget he's still only 24 being that this is year 5 for him in the show.
I would say there isnt much injury risk, his biggest injury was a broken knee last year off a wicked clapper from the point. But he hasnt shown any signs that it's bothered him this year, and that injury happened rather late into the season last year.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>kaljakori</b></div><div>Maybe, I'm just highly skeptical considering Drysdale's injury. Doesn't look good.</div></div>
Doesnt look bad either, if its a one time occurence, (not like ellis's constant issues).
I think too many people are looking at gautheir as full on meeting potential and dismissing drysdale as not. Or that the 2nd rounder will not pan out.
Add in that Gautheir's trade value to PHI, would have taken a hit in 2 months time and I think its a pretty even return.
To be fair, at this point, we dont know what the players will turn out to be or the 2nd.

Toronto Maple Leafs signed William Nylander (8 Years / $11,500,000 AAV)
First of all, Nylander is worth 11 mil. I've been saying this for a long time now. If you don't think so - you're simply wrong
Second, he signed at a similar cap% as comparable wingers at the time like Benn, Stone, and Perry. Don't let the raw number fool you this isnt out of the blue.
Third and most importantly, Trev completely ****ed this negotiation up. If they were scared Nylander might walk - the time to "cave in" was in the summer. As it stands Nylander is at peak value and there is no reason to cave now 30 some odd games after refusing to go above 9mil. They should have waited out the year and let Reinhart get a comparable deal or let Willie cool off. Even if he didn't they could always just pay him this in June no problem. No one in the league can match 92 million dollars!
There was no risk!
What a horrible GM Trev has turned out to be. Worst fears confirmed about him
Fourth, I am very exited to have Willie be a life long leaf. Amazing player who has the perfect mentality for the market. Ideal Leaf and for that reason its still a good deal even with Trev being a panicky idiot.
I expect CF to vote it down. They also voted down both Matthews deals so that should tell you how little you should value that
Of course there are the usual worries about deals like this aging but I don't see any reason to suggest the risk is any more than any other comparable star so whatever. Would have liked us to get this down to 5 or 6 years given the aav, but I'll live with it.
<img class="for_img" src="https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GDVC7IAWgAI_jSc?format=jpg&name=small" alt="GDVC7IAWgAI_jSc?format=jpg&name=small">
I figure he will drop down to somewhere around a point per game to a 100 point pace for the next few years, and that's fine for what he will cost

I'm not ready to write him off completely, but he was an elite goal scorer on the big ice. I've watched the Rangers a lot and I don't see any signs of him becoming a 40G scorer, like he was projected to be. Maybe 25 eventually.

This was a bargain for Toronto. I'm assuming the market is drying up with so many buyers having finished early. Sellers will now be taking what they can get.
With only 9 Western teams still vying for a playoff spot, all but 1 of them will make it in anyway. Might explain why there's less action there. Most of them can afford to wait it out.

The fact you're posting this as a very normal thing that usually happens is uh...concerning in the most gentle terms. The man is entirely in the fault and should've been terminated; I wouldn't be shocked if there was a law against that but in most companies that's a huge code of conduct violation.

as you can see, justice has been served. he has learned from his wrongdoings and knows the consequences might be that it'll end up with him signing a piece of paper and instantly making more money than most people see in a year.
