Not gonna lie JP to CAR was the easiest fit to call ever. Kind of surprised it took this long.

I'm a little worried that it doesn't do much for them, but I like the bet on JP so it's hard to not like this for the cost

Edmonton - Clear 3M of "dead cap" and pick up a decent prospect with NHL upside who's looked great in Liiga this year.

Carolina - Trade a prospect from their tree of wealth in exchange for a struggling FINN with potential. Don't think picking up his full cap was a smart move, but they reunite Poolparty with his WJC Gold Medal comrade

Value obviously is better for the Canes but if that blocks them from making a bigger trade for a more impactful forward the only winners are every other playoff team in the east

Fair deal for me.
I like Puljujärvi more than most but he clearly wasn't ever gonna become the best version of himself with the Oilers.
He'll be the perfect fit for the way Carolina play their game.

While Puistola has some pretty interesting counting stats in Liiga, the Oilers shedding Pulju's entire 3m cap hit could be huge for them should they pursue a Chychrun deal...


...but knowing Ken Holland their newly acquired cap space will surely be spent on a pylon like Edmundson.

I like this for Edmonton, clear cap, get a decent prospect back, Pulju needed the change of scenery, if Carolina can maximize Pulju's output, this might look very good for them but i'd currently edge towards Edmonton winning

How Ken Holland still has a job baffles me to this day. What a **** trade. Prob the most **** trade we have seen in a while.

Seems like a fair deal to me. EDM gets the money off the books and CAR takes a low cost risk with a potential for a good return.

Edmonton just gave him away. Change of scenery will probably do him wonders now that he is out of Edmonton.

This isn't a win for Edmonton. It's an admission of failure and the only thing the Oilers really get out of this scenario is the relief that this saga is finally over. Could Puljujarvi taken a bit more agency in hiring a skills coach? Maybe. Having a coaching staff that didn't objectively hate him (both McLellan and Woodcroft refused to play him more than 8 minutes a night) or an organization willing to support a top pick right out of the gate would have been nice.

But it's all hindsight now. A memory, a bad taste. Sail on Jesse. I hope the Hurricanes take better care of you than the Oilers did.

We needed a top 6 scoring center and you got us a winger who hasn't been able to score with the Oilers. Our bottom 6 is already a logjam, why are you adding another guy there? Go back and get me Sam Bennett or get Max Domi back, but for the love of all that is holy do not do this **** again.

Pulji was never going to make it in Edmonton, the fan base (some of it) turned on him and just wanted him gone.
I hope he finds his game in Carolina, hopefully finds that Finnish connection, good bye Bison King <3.

They don't have any roster space. If they acquired another player, they'd have to either put guys on waivers or trade parts of their active roster and Carolina doesn't really want to do that.

Glad that Puljujarvi has a fresh start and Carolina seems like a great fit for him

I like it. Canes is the greatest fit for Pulju.

Not sure what Carolinas thoughts are here, Puljujaevi doesn't have any chance at reclaiming his potential languishing in a bottom 6 role and unless he comes out in a big way for Carolina, he's going to have a hard time moving past 3RW unless I'm reading the roster wrong.

Very underwelming for Carolina in the middle of the eastern conference arm race.

Poolparty is a 4th liner by default, not a game changer. Wasted capspace.
