<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bwhsocal</b></div><div>no but would have to be a huge overpay, there is zero reason for AZ to trade either for picks (have a million) or prospects (have deep pool-unless maybe a A+ one is available), they arent in market for past prime guys to win this year, so only reason would be to upgrade with coming into prime top D or top C under good contract and cant see anyone giving that up.
on this trade is 30yo CC better than 25yo durzi ? is a late 1st that needed when have 20 x 1-3round picks in next 3 years?, is bourgault a top D prospect? AZ has a ton on D prospects</div></div>
Now we are talking about what the appropriate compensation is, which is a different conversation. And your comments are fair.
Ceci is not better than Durzi - that's the whole point from the Edmonton side of things. That doesn't mean he's valueless to Arizona.
Knowing now that Durzi is a pending RFA, I agree that the compensation would need to be higher. The package of players, picks and prospects would need to be enough that the Coyotes can use them in the offseason to fill the void from Durzi & Bjugstad with change left over. Whatever that amount is.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bwhsocal</b></div><div>durzi is RFA w arb rights at end of year. difference vs last year; bjug was on 1 year deal and AZ was firmly in lottery spot, this year bjug is on 2 year deal and AZ bubble and next year should be even better. Bjug is only C over 23yr and plays middle 6 PK, PP2 and is veteran leader
they are not trading either</div></div>
Gotcha - I misunderstood Durzi's FA designation.
Regardless, neither player is good enough to be untouchable.

I don't see Philly selling off unless they take a tumble in the next month or so.

Durzi is a UFA at season's end. They did the same thing last year with Bjugstad. I disagree that he's a non-starter. I'm more uncertain about Arizona's willingness to trade Bjugstad for a 2nd straight season.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AnonymousSensFan</b></div><div>Sens decline. They need RD, not trade them away.
Ceci ain't great (Sens would know, they traded him away to Toronto). Broberg is becoming a bust, and a LD which the Sens have plenty of.
The 1st is nice, but nowhere near enough for Zub.</div></div>
That's fair. I'm not sure how to value Zub. With the RHD upgrade I was looking for this year's version of Ekholm - a guy we didn't know was available. You're probably right in that it would take more compensation to get Ottawa to let him go.
Edit: For what it's worth, Ceci has done fairly well in Edmonton. Better than he had done in Toronto.

Oilers TDL
I like it. My only nitpick is that I would run a 22 man roster so that they could have about $1.4-$1.5 million in cap space to either: A. Acquire more help, or B. Use the cap space toward Brown's bonus.

Yeah, I struggled with that too but I didn't want to be a homer and also figure you'd have to pay up to get a starter in a trade. I always have trouble evaluating what is a fair return in a trade.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Nightowl26</b></div><div>Absolutely NO interest in Barrie from the Isles....</div></div>
That's fair. As I stated above, I didn't do the league wide research to determine where Barrie should go. The concept is purely from an Oilers perspective and I think moving Barrie and his contract for a 3rd rounder is very reasonable, if not unfavourable toward Edmonton.

I gave your post a Like because I accidentally pressed the Report button trying to reply. My apologies, mon ami.
But I gotta disagree with you. Barrie is far from a perfect D man but he has trade value.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>uphere</b></div><div>Most fans, including many Oiler fans, do not recognize the vast improvement in Barrie's game down the regular season stretch and throughout the playoffs; he played a sound 2-way game and was a legitimate top-4 defender on a team that made it to the Conference finals. Given his remaining term and AAV, he should easily be worth more than a 3rd round pick from any team with $4.5M in cap space and a need for a mobile RHD with elite-level power play credentials.</div></div>
Agreed. I think a 3rd rounder is a low return. I didn't want to be a Homer for the Oilers, but i think moving 22 is worth it for the cap relief and the fact that Bouchard duplicates his skillset for way less money.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dannibalcorpse</b></div><div>It doesn't make sense on the Islanders end - I'm not going to argue whether Mayfield or Barrie is the better player, but Mayfield plays RD3 for the Isles and is paid $1.45M - more or less what you want to pay your bottom pair guys. Barrie would be replacing Mayfield (I don't think he knocks Pulock or Dobson out of RD1/2) but makes $4.5M. Doing that kind of trade without addressing the hole on the left side of the D depth chart is just not smart asset management.
I also can't see Arizona trading one of their best assets for an LTIR contract and a couple of late 1sts, nor can I see Buffalo taking Zack Kassian back after all these years if you're only including a 5th (they don't need retention if you're dumping him, they have plenty of cap space.)</div></div>
Point taken on Barrie and Kassian trades. I think it's reasonable to think Barrie can be moved for a D man <em>like</em> Mayfield, even if it's not Mayfield specifically. I probably should have increased the compensation for the Kassian cap dump - Buffalo also may not be the right destination.
On the Chychrun trade, I gotta disagree. I think two 1sts and a 2nd is very fair for a guy who requested a trade. Maybe they'll do better than that, but I don't think that's out of line at all.

Fair enough. I didn't do the league wide research to determine a good destination for Barrie, but I think that it's reasonable to think you could get a 3rd round pick for him.

That's fair. Could buy out Kassian and increase the AAV on Campbell and then bring back Archibald to make the money work better.
