Durzi is a UFA at season's end. They did the same thing last year with Bjugstad. I disagree that he's a non-starter. I'm more uncertain about Arizona's willingness to trade Bjugstad for a 2nd straight season.

durzi is RFA w arb rights at end of year. difference vs last year; bjug was on 1 year deal and AZ was firmly in lottery spot, this year bjug is on 2 year deal and AZ bubble and next year should be even better. Bjug is only C over 23yr and plays middle 6 PK, PP2 and is veteran leader

no but would have to be a huge overpay, there is zero reason for AZ to trade either for picks (have a million) or prospects (have deep pool-unless maybe a A+ one is available), they arent in market for past prime guys to win this year, so only reason would be to upgrade with coming into prime top D or top C under good contract and cant see anyone giving that up.

Ceci is not better than Durzi - that's the whole point from the Edmonton side of things. That doesn't mean he's valueless to Arizona.

Knowing now that Durzi is a pending RFA, I agree that the compensation would need to be higher. The package of players, picks and prospects would need to be enough that the Coyotes can use them in the offseason to fill the void from Durzi & Bjugstad with change left over. Whatever that amount is.

not insulting EDM team at all -they are in win now mode but outside bouchard there is no one on the roster that fits AZ timeline/age/price that would be worth AZ trading away durzi/bjug. late 1st arent worth it and edm prospect pool isnt highly ranked.
