LD is certainly not a “need”
But if we like him enough for him to be paired with Dahlin,
then Dahlin can seamlessly move to the right side
We’d probably *prefer* a RH shot, but I’d say “maybe”
*we could be looking for a 4C though, so Sturm might be of interest</div></div>
I think Sturm could be included, or maybe Sharks take one of the 2nd picks out ('25)?

Running down a dream
Well, if I'm the Sharks I take this and run. We will get Montreal #5 pick that means we can choose Michkov and Smith/Carlsson, which makes us a very young and dangerous in the future.
We get a large cap relief and we can start building from the bottom. I actually like it, we need to make this kind of moves to make through this rebuild one day.
I would counter with one change, that is probably not happening but change Hertl to Couture and take the Florida pick out. Couture is a playoff monster and I feel he will follow the Thornton/Pavelski/Marleau steps in longevity. He is scoring at a decent rate in regular season and with younger and more advanced players he can reach 70-75 points with no problem.
He will also be scoring some big goals when it matters.

If Sharks added Barabanov to that deal, would it be better for Isles?
Add Barabanov and put Wahlström instead of Salo?

Sharks major overhaul
Nichushkin is kind of player that has success because he plays for amazing team, don't let that fool you.
He is not 5.75mil worthy and certainly not 8 years worthy. My price would be 4 mil x 2 years if we are realistic.

Yeah, I guess Buffalo shouldn't miss on Jiricek, but they have really solid defence depth with Dahlin and Power leading the way.
This wasn't all teams taking the BPA, more of an what fits their team profile.

Competing Sharks not what I want because Bedard
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CMcAvoy73</b></div><div>The sharks are so confusing that I’m to the point where I think ownership is taking a major role. It’s just so obvious they should be in full sell, yet here they are, extending everyone they can.</div></div>
Yup, that's the problem. They should start getting rid of the older contracts and really start building around Eklund, Meier and whomever is drafted or sticks from the prospect pool.
Veteran presence is okay to some extent, but the reality is that Sharks has too many guys that want to win now and they are not close to that at all.

I would only change Balcers and Barabanov spot, I think Hertl - Barabanov had some chemistry that would be great to see if it still works out.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bunnymcfoo</b></div><div>But why would we want to be 4th in the west? Yeah, I know what you are talking about... but still I don't see team with Couture, Hertl, Meier, Kane, Labanc, Burns, Karlsson and Vlasic just being like yeah lets TRY to suck this year.
And before anyone says they will suck nevertheless, if the guys I mentioned play to their potential they ARE a playoff team.

This might happen with one of the two signings but not both. Right now would love it to be Hamonic rather than Duclair since I agree with jfrojelin that he demands more money.
Love me that team though!

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jexus</b></div><div>If Karlsson, Couture, Hertl, Burns, Meier, Kane and Vlasic all play to their expected potential then we should have no problem with LA or Anaheim, should be competitive with Vancouver, Calgary and Vegas. This is still a really good team. They need to get on the same page and start strong. I fully expect one of Chmelevski, Leonard or even Merkley to break out this year.
If it all continues downhill then they need to consider trading a piece the core to shake it up and bring someone new in. I’m not concerned but i am in the minority here so go figure.</div></div>
Yeah, I agree on that. Lets hope! If they play to their potential and the new guys hop in the win train, it could easily be at least a playoff battle. I really want to believe! Go figure and Go Sharks.

I think its a fair deal, it seems like a lot because Sharks don't have a lot of cap space. I'm optimistic for now. Next season will tell a lot about this team.

What does Wilson do this offseason?
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jexus</b></div><div>We still have the tools to be competitive as we did last year. I think Doug mean he would not sign any big contracts not that he wouldnt acquire anyone.
When we missed the playoffs in 2015 all we did the next season was acquire a bottom pair dman (Paul Martin) a bottom six depth forward (ward) and a Euro free agent who no one knew would be good (Joonas Donskoi). Spaling, Reimer and Polak, all depth players were added at the deadline. Wasnt that bad, we did reach the finals the next year.
I believe Doug will still grab a depth guy or two on cheap deals, we need RHD and a middle six RW unless he believes one of Chmelevski or Blichfeld will take one of those roles.
A permanent and forward thinking coach group who can instill a game plan from day one is going to be huge, the players seem to respond well to Boughner and if the netminders continue to improve as I think they will then we have a chance to make the playoffs at least and if were on track for the playoffs Doug will certainly add a piece via trade next season.</div></div>
Yeah, I see where you are coming from. Good take. I was just hoping the spark was a little more than Donato/Dubnyk. It is going to be a very competitive Pacific division this coming year with
-Anaheim/Kings getting younger and better
-Edmonton bringing a lot of potential pieces with already McDavid/Draisaitl
-Vancouver being potential beast with young elites
-Calgary taking step forward on goalie pov
-Arizona is the only meh
-Vegas probably being a force they already were (with Lehner now and Pietro probably (I dont know how) going there)
I know Sharks got a good group, but I always watch it from division perspective. Sharks was at the top 3 of the division every year for so long (without a cup), so its hard to accept its going to get harder.

Well, it seems like absolutely NOTHING. Noesen was great and draft was good, but it will be affect us 2022-23.
Rumours say Sharks are not going to do anything crazy, I really hope its not true. We need to do something.
EDIT: Watching the Pacific getting so much better every god damn minute makes me boil to be honest, I just want us to be at least competetive.

Do SJS accept
I hate to start this conversation again, but to those that say Burns is really bad... they need to start watching some games and maybe understand the deeper meaning of the beast Brent Burns.
We all know he has the defensive liability tag, not gonna argue that. Also he had his best year in 2018-2019 and that wasn't even the year he won the Norris. Burns is much more than just a D-man, he is a hard working leader that some nights looks like a 20 year old winger with his dangles and offensive upside, and some nights he is a hard hitting D-man that never actually gets injured.
<strong>He is like a fine wine and somehow only gets better the older he gets</strong>. If you only take his last season to account, you are just lazy at seeing the bigger picture.
If Burns played for Toronto, I promise the team would be a lot better. I dare to even say that he can bring them to 2nd round or further. He has that experience with Sharks, that haven't got as good of a offence as Toronto. Its not just the points, its the experience. He is an elite for a reason.
And NO I don't want to see Burns gone. I like him as Shark and without him we wouldn't have the same success. But under the circumstances I would understand if they traded Brent Burns #88.
Sorry for the rant, but fans of other teams just see one bad season (because of a bad team) and it seems like all of sudden he is a new Dion Phaneuf in their eyes.
EDIT: Bad season meaning = 70games 12 goals 33 assists = 45points +/- = -22 (on a bad team all together)

This is a wIn for Sharks, but not bad for Minnesota. I think Sharks win this trade because Minnesota could've gotten more for these guys.
DW kinda still has it.
On pessimistic side, Dubnyk could perform as bad as last year together with Jones and we will just hope for the lottery pick.

NHL parody song lyrics
I don't know if this belongs to this thread, but if it doesn't feel free to remove it.
So, the point of this thread is to publish lyrics that describe your team (or other teams) and slightly change lyrics to refer your team.
The more popular song, the better. So people can really have fun with it. People can play the original song somewhere (YouTube, Spotify etc) or in their head and imagine the lyrics being there.
This thread has big inspiration from YouTube's Melody Martin that makes songs about Buffalo Sabres.
If this thread catches fire I'll post more myself.
This first one is just a test, not the greatest, but to get the idea.
<strong>Example: (Bon Jovi - Livin on a Prayer)
My song: San Jose Sharks - Livin' without a player (Pavelski)
Once upon a time just a season ago
Jumbo used to save us with pucks, league was on strike
He got team on his back, no cup, so tough
Patty works the body all day, working for his team
He gives all his time, for fans, for cup
Doug says, we've got to hold on to what we've got
It doesn't make a difference if we trade or not
We've got Ferraro and that's a lot for D
Burns just take the shot
Woah, we're just not there
Woah, livin' without a player
Give me the puck, I’ll blow it I swear
Woah, Livin without a player
Hertl got a smile on his face
Injuries holding back what he used to give on ice
So tough, oh he’s down
EK dreams of running away
When he cries in the rink, Doug whispers
Erik, it's okay, we’ll pay
We've got to hold on to players we've got
It doesn't make a difference if we shake it or not
We've got EK9 and that's a lot for the score
Vlasic please block the shot
Woah, we're just not there
Woah, 4th line got a player
Shake my hand, Labanc we’ll make it I swear
Woah, livin' without a player
-Solo
Oh, we've got a Logan, ready or not
When we get to the playoffs he’s all that we’ve got
etc.</strong>

Maroon for b3b!
But being serious for a moment, getting a guy like Maroon to bring b2b champion mentality to this group could be crucial for the young guys and veterans.
He has played with 2 great teams now, and has knowledge that needs to be spread. He is a depth guy, but he has seen some real winning.

Love the Mikko Koivu signing! He sure does deserve it after being captain in Minnesota for so long. Hintz could be a little less, more of a 22,5 mil? Lundell is good at 70mil.
Vatanen is much more, 258 mil maybe?
Nice job!
