Hartman has a NMC as part of the extension he signed. He would almost 100% turn down any trade for the forseeable future.

Fun fact, Minnesota can't be a 3rd team for retention this year due to our LTIR situation. Russo confirmed it with the league.

What I am saying is this is a steal for us to get rid of Merrill without having to give up additional assets or completely devalue Duhaime. That's fair for Duhaime and you giving us a pick for Merrill is borderline criminal. Most Minnesota fans view future considerations as an optimistic return for Merrill.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MajesticWalrus</b></div><div>Ill admit it could definitely take another sweetener but there's no bad players going the other way. Jarry is great and joseph can definitely turn into something, he's shown he's one of the fastest skaters in the league too. Along with high picks.
Minnesota on the other hand, it could be argued fluery is the lowest of value in this deal due to contract and performance.</div></div>
Brodin isn't available and if he was, we sure as hell wouldn't be retaining 50% for 4+ years in exchange for a goalie, an unimpressive defenseman who "can definitely turn into somebody" and 2 picks in 2026. That's insane.
Fleury is almost completely irrelevant to my decision here. Take him out and it wouldn't change anything. We already have $14.74 million in dead cap space this year and next. You're proposing we give you our top shutdown defenseman and make it $17.74 million in dead cap. Jarry isn't bad, but he isn't cheap (remember the dead cap?) and he's signed to term when we have our goalie of the future (Wallstedt) ready to make the jump to the NHL very soon. POJ is playing 13 minutes with uninspiring defensive metrics. The 2 picks lose a lot of value being that far off. Unless you go into a full burn it to the ground rebuild, which I doubt happens, those picks won't be particularly early either.
In other words, this trade makes absolutely no sense from Minnesota's perspective and gets shut down immediately.

Hmmm
Minnesota would prefer a better pick without the extra players. We're already at the roster limit and need to drop people once Khusnutdinov is stateside and our injured players come back into the lineup so the 2 rentals are more of a hindrance than a help. Duhaime at the deadline is worth more than a 6th round pick 3 drafts from now.

Absolutely zero chance Minnesota trades Brodin, much less while retaining 50%. It's laughably bad.

Just messin around
That Minnesota trade is a dumpster fire.
Minnesota doesn't have the cap room (this year or beyond), first of all. Second, Guerin has only traded a single 2nd round pick and it was in a year we had 3. He has yet to trade a single 1st, let alone 2 in the same trade. I don't see any reason he does it in a year we're not making the playoffs for a player that doesn't align with our competitive window (that is not at all open right now). Third, we have plenty of center depth when Yurov comes over in the next 12 months or so with him, Eriksson Ek, and Rossi. Fourth, Hartman just signed an extension with a full NMC and likely shuts this down immediately. For all those reasons, I see no chance of this deal happening.

Since that's solid value for Duhaime and we aren't paying you to take Merrill off our hands, Guerin takes that and runs.

Minnesota would be looking for more than a 6th for Duhaime. Friedman does nothing for us as a pending UFA when we already have 8 D on the roster and at least 1 more in the AHL that we'd trust to play on the 3rd pair in the event of more injuries.

What would these guys cost and are they available
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BCAPP</b></div><div>That much eh? He's the only guy on the list under 20 minutes a night.</div></div>
First, he's at 19:57 with zero PP time so it's not like we're talking about someone getting 16 minutes. Second, he has another year left on a cheap contact when we still have one more year of cap hell left. We have no need to trade him so it will likely take somewhat of an overpayment to get him. To replace him in the lineup will likely cost us more so we would need a decent incentive to make our already complicated cap situation even worse.

The fact that we aren't retaining makes this a win even if we are just getting AHL depth.

Minnesota isn't buying. Guerin hasn't used a 2nd at the deadline when the team was actually good. Not sure why he would when we've sucked for large portions of the year and have a good shot of missing the playoffs.

Drop Meyers and improve the pick and Guerin would say yes. Fluery probably isn't on the block though. Unless we completely eat **** in the next week, he appears to want to stay.

Minnesota says no. We don't have the cap space or the need. We are in cap hell and have prospects that need the ice time. Much rather save a bunch of cap space and give that spot to a guy like Yurov who is 20 than soon to be 34 year old Anders Lee.

You laugh, but if you think the best scoring U-22 player of all-time in the KHL doesn't cost and make you want to scream when it happens. Then he's not available.
He's not moving, period, unless Minnesota gets that at minimum. Neither Tomasino or Svechkov come close to his potential ceiling or Value.</div></div>
Don't forget, he also moved to center which helps bump up his value too. Not only set a scoring record, but did it at a premium position as well.

what would be coming back in these packages
Johansson has been traded 5 times in 5 and a half years and said he's tired of moving so he got a NTC on this contract that he's unlikely to want to waive.
You're going to have to overpay for Guerin to even consider moving Middleton. He's good defensively and on a very cheap contract through next season while we're still in cap hell. We're talking about starting the conversation at a 1st or at least a 2nd +.

Doubtful Minnesota drops a 3rd to bolster center depth when we have Khusnutdinov expected to sign and come over within the next week or so. Depending on how exactly we have our lines set up, we also already have 2 guys playing as wings right now who can play up the middle.
My best guess is that Guerin will either sell a couple pieces or hold firm and consider adding Chisholm on waivers, Mason Shaw returning from his torn ACL, and Khusnutdinov signing his ELC as his deadline moves.

Even if he somehow was able to convince the coaches that he is healthy enough to be on the ice, he shouldn't be allowed anywhere near game action until next season. He's 34 coming off back and hip surgeries. If there is any hope of getting some sort of value out of the last 3 years of his contract (or potentially trade him to get out of the cap hit), we need to think for the future instead of possible short term gain. Wait until he is clearly 100% instead of risking him getting reinjured and suffering permanent damage in a year we realistically have next to zero chance at the cup.

Don't worry, Minnesota has no desire to make that trade either. Mittelstadt isn't a good fit for us and wants to get paid which is an issue when we're in cap hell. Along those same lines, we don't want to be giving up our 1st in a year we very realistically could still miss the playoffs and actually get a good draft pick.

What could teams pay
Minnesota is once again a no. We have no cap space this year or next year and need to fill several roster spots this offseason. Even after the buyouts drop from $14.74 million to $1.67 million, we won't have a ton of room to work with considering the contracts we'll have to shell out for Faber and Rossi on new contracts and Kaprizov on an extension (assuming he wants to stay).

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JayTea</b></div><div>Pretty sure Yurov just signed a 1 year extension with his KHL team, but you could basically swap Khusnutdinov for him in this scenario since it sounds like he still might debut in North America before this season ends.</div></div>
He hasn't signed yet. Here's a quote from this week's insider from Russo and Smith:
<a href="https://theathletic.com/5278890/2024/02/19/wild-insider-middleton-fleury-bogosian/?source=emp_shared_article" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">Wild first-round pick Danila Yurov is expected to sign a one-year extension with his club, league-leading Metallurg Magnitogorsk, in the KHL. He let the cat out of the bag on a Russian TV show, although Guerin says the contract isn’t signed yet, it’s complicated and Yurov, too, told The Athletic that he negotiated better terms but hasn’t signed yet.
Regardless, the Wild are fine with Yurov, 20, continuing his impressive development in the KHL. Yurov recently tied Vladimir Tarasenko’s KHL record for most points (47 points in 46 games, including 21 goals) in a single season for a 20-year-old.
Speaking of Russians, second-round pick Marat Khusnutdinov’s season with KHL Sochi ends Sunday, and then the Wild will look to sign the forward to his NHL entry-level contract and bring him over to North America soon after.
“Hopefully we can get these guys over here as soon as possible because I think they’re both ready,” Guerin said. …</a>

TDL Offseason
Minnesota isn't buying this year. If we weren't giving up a 1st in a year we were actually good, why would we do it when we're currently set up to get a top 10 pick? Also, we have $11 million in cap space next year with 16 forwards signed. This trade would knock us down to a little over $7 million with ~6 players to sign which is an absolute no go.

Minnesota is expected to be done adding D with the waiver claim of Chisholm. Unless something changes, we won't be buying at all either. If anything, we'd probably be looking to send you Fleury (assuming he would waive his NMC).
