next years team
Do you seriously believe that Minnesota will trade you their 21 year old Calder nominee right handed defenseman and a 30-goal scoring two-way forward on the right side of 30 for a B-prospect, a first-round bust, and a late first? This is un-precedented levels of delusion

(MIN/COL) - Duhaime for 2026 3rd (COL)
I like this for the Avs. Duhaime will fit in nice on their 4th line in exchange for a pick that MIGHT sniff the NHL in 2029.
RIP the Canucks ACGMs saying Duhaime is worth a 6th or a 7th.

First of all you're not offering three firsts, you're offering one first, three drafts from now, and a former late 1st whose value has plummeted since the draft, almost three years ago. Second, the problem isn't moving Maroon, it's taking on Campbell, who costs much more to dump, when we already have two NHL goalies in Gustavsson and Fleury, and arguably the best goalie prospect in the world in Wallstedt.
Go ahead and buy Campbell out yourself if it's such a reasonable rate.

What would these guys cost and are they available
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>futurehofer</b></div><div>First, he's at 19:57 with zero PP time so it's not like we're talking about someone getting 16 minutes. Second, he has another year left on a cheap contact when we still have one more year of cap hell left. We have no need to trade him so it will likely take somewhat of an overpayment to get him. To replace him in the lineup will likely cost us more so we would need a decent incentive to make our already complicated cap situation even worse.</div></div>
He also balances the top four very well, playing well with Faber so Brodin can anchor his own pairing. And he brings size and physicality on the back end, which is something we don't have much of. Overall solid, if unspectacular, top 4 guy signed cheap for one more year with very little reason to move him.

My take 7
You think Mittelstadt and a no value cap dump get you a top ten pick? Worse, our top ten pick this year plus our 2nd rounders for both this year's draft and next year's.
Do you honestly think Minnesota, who's in the bottom 10 of the league this year is going to wait until the 3rd round to make a selection in this year's draft?
They also already have Rossi and JEE in their top-six. So Mitts is playing 3C in Minnesota. Why would we pay that for someone who's going to cost more than we can afford, only to stick him into a 3rd line checking role?
Try and think about other teams situations and needs when making posts. It'll go a lot better for you in the future.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ImACashew10</b></div><div>A-level sounds like a stretch. Danila Yurov, A-level for sure and a nonstarter. You’ve already got one undersized center in Rossi plus Ek and Hartman signed to term. Plus grossly overestimating the value of Khusnutdinov. Risto has warts but you can’t trade a bag of chips for a legit top 4 RD.</div></div>
Yeah, and neither Rossi or Khusnutdinov play soft hockey just because they're under 6' feet. So that doesn't wash... and is an extremely tired narrative BTW. Both of them play extremely sound defensive hockey in their own ends. All while being incredibly hard to knock off the puck. And while being under the vaunted 6 foot mark.
The old addage that small players need to be either fast or have high hockey IQ's to make it argument falls flat too. Rossi has the high IQ to be a top 6 center, while Khusnutdinov has the speed (He’s easily around a Brayden Point level foot speed). Khusnutdinov is absolutely considered an A-level prospect, he was an expected 1st round pick on talent alone during his draft year, but only fell into the 2nd because of the whole Russian factor. That's not his fault. Nor should it diminish his perceived value either.
Hartman can and does play all foward positions, and is easily put back onto the wing if necessary. That's an non-issue.
Joel Eriksson-Ek is a legitimate 2C, sure. But he's elite whenever he's deployed in a checking 3C role. So him bumping down to the 3rd line just increases our center depth even more.
Or Khusnutdinov can play there, because again, that's a non-issue. Or maybe he's moved to the wing and becomes our 2LW of the future.
If your argument is that Minnesota can't compete with two undersized centers in their top six. The obvious counter argument to that is to stick at least one player of size onto their wings. Say a Matt Boldy or Liam Öhgren type of player.
Finally, saying Risto is a legitimate top-four defenseman is being extremely generous. He's barely a serviceable #4D. All while being a defensive black hole. Can anyone say Matt Dumba. He's a least familiar with the organization and the team loves him. And he's going to cost a damn site less than this.

Outproducing? By 1 point? That's not outproducing, that's potentially one game from Ek being ahead by 1 point. And Ek has 8 more goals. Ek is also miles better defensively, not to mention the grit and physical play he brings. Ek is also signed for 5 more years at a very good contract, where Mittelstadt't $ value is unknown, and will probably be higher than Ek's. Ek being two years older and including a 2nd round pick two drafts from now doesn't come close to offsetting the value.

Would cost a lot but would be great if they are sellers
I know Sens management is kind of a mess right now but I can't imagine that they would turn around and move Chychrun 9 months after they acquired for him for a package that doesn't blow what they paid out of the water - keep in mind, they gave up what wound up being #12OA, plus a 2024 2nd and a 2026 2nd for him last March. Lagesson is just a warm body, so you're basically offering #28 in the same draft they gave up the #12 in plus a 2024 1st that is most likely in the same vicinity - I just don't think it would be enough of a slam dunk for the Senators to take it.
As far as the Wild trade, I think they pass. They're literally dollar in/dollar out at this point, and this trade has them sending out $1.65M in AAV while taking back $2.45M. For a team with less than $56K in cap space, you're basically taking away an entire roster spot here. Not to mention the fact that Reaves is pretty much a one note player at this stage of his career, while Maroon is providing some of that snarl while also scoring at a 40 point pace on his $800K cap hit. Easy pass for the Wild.

Incidentally league min is where maroon stands and is a much better fit skill wise, so I’m sure they’d keep him…. Reaves being a no skill guy.

The Wild wanted Reaves back last summer, but guessing they were only offering closer league minimum so don't think they'd want him at his full cap hit. Not sure where this "rumor" got started that they wanted him back.

That's just asinine.
We like him just fine. He's struggling, sure. But you don't give up on your 2nd best player. Especially when said player is under 23 and just going through a slump.
They tend to bounce back, and he looked excellent under Hynes first game as HC. He was our best player that game.
Foremost, it's going to take a stupidly obnoxious overpay for Minnesota to even remotely consider it.
Secondly, that package better contain one of either Caufield, Slafkovsky, Dach, or Suzuki. One of them is coming back Minnesota's way or there's nothing to discuss or consider.
This *trade* however, doesn't get Guerin to do anything but laugh.
