Wild ideas
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TanSor</b></div><div>Rask is only signed for one more year. We can eat that year and still have enough room to get Kaprizov, Ek, and Fiala under long-term deals. We cannot do that with 4.5 more years of Johansen at $8M...</div></div>
Like I said, leave him exposed in the expansion draft. He'll be the best center SEA could get from any team. Wild are out nothing this year, and gain $4m from Rask's cap hit next year.
If you want to keep RyJo, Dumba can be traded for more than just the center MN has been saying. It opens up some options.

Reinhart
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TanSor</b></div><div>Reinhart isn't a center.
I think the idea of trading for Eichel would be to get him to play <em>with</em> Kaprizov. I'm fine with the idea of including Fiala for Eichel even if it stings, we have a glut of winger prospects and Fiala is about to get paid. If Fiala is in the package for Eichel, I'd imagine Rossi and Boldy would likely be off the table.</div></div>
We never really gave Sam Reinhart an opportunity to play center and be successful. He had looks early in his career when he was 19 and 20, but it didn’t work out mainly because he had atrocious wingers, and he also wasn’t physically ready for it either, plus we had Ryan O’Reilly at the time who pushed Reinhart down the chart. Once we moved him to RW, we never looked back.
I suspect he can play the position if given the opportunity again. He is a natural center and a possession driver a a consistent 60-70 pt player with a high hockey IQ. If you give him the opportunity at this stage of his career when he’s more mentally and physically ready and with quality wingers, he may succeed.
I think it only make sense though if a team also has a need for a right shot right wing. Buffalo would likely want to get bigger and more physical in return which will be hard to do if you’re trying to find that in the top 6

Reinhart
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TanSor</b></div><div>I think he would make us a lot better. Eichel is a 90-100+ point center. Fiala, in the absolute best case scenario, is probably a 70-80 point, 30 goal scoring winger. Centers are way more valuable than wings and my personal philosophy is that cups are won with a strong center group. I love Fiala, he plays a highly skilled game and he's entertaining as hell to watch, but I wouldn't hesitate to trade him for Eichel.
If we do end up trading for Eichel, we are going to have to give up a piece (or even pieces) that we don't want to.</div></div>
And that's just it: <strong>A</strong> piece. Not all of our top prospects and a few roster players like Sabres fans think. I could see something like Fiala, Khovanov or Khusnutdinov, a couple 1st round picks, Rask for cap, and some other random pick/prospect. Guerin (or any other GM) aren't giving up things they'll need to contend to get Eichel, such as potential production on ELCs from guys like Rossi or Boldy (if Fiala is in the deal). If Buffalo moves Eichel, they're admitting the rebuild failed and starting over.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dwr8001</b></div><div>Ok was not sure about Reinhart as a center but makes sense. Interesting the only question is how much better does that make us with Eichel but without Fiala? Not saying Fiala is anywhere near Eichel but maybe we do have the wing prospects to replace Fiala.</div></div>

Reinhart isn't a center and that is a pretty big overpayment. He's not someone the Wild should be targeting.

Roster after acquiring Bjugstad
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ritzy</b></div><div>Minny fans, help me out. I don't understand this deal.</div></div>
I mean it's a 7th round pick and the Pens are retaining salary, can't buy much lower than that for a former 20 goal scorer and hometown guy.
Also opens up the door for moving Kunin if he's a deal breaker to get us a top line center.

Billy wants change
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dwr8001</b></div><div>Why do you think the Wild/Fans on here would be so quick to trade Staal?? I get it if the above happens and we can bring in two younger centers but Staal was still productive this year and has been since he came here? I know he does not have many years left but I think there are other more pressing issues than getting rid of Staal.</div></div>
Because he’s old and slow and no longer has good hands or a quick release, that’s why.

I don't think we re-sign him if we don't have to, and the only reason we wouldn't have to is if we acquire two young centers this offseason. Otherwise, I'd be fine with extending him for another year.

My take on Trocheck
I’m speaking for me here, not <a href="/users/TanSor" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@TanSor</a>. Brodin IS the Wild’s best defenseman now. He has passed Suter and Spurgeon up. The way things work around here is Suter and Parise dictate playing time, line combos, D pairings, etc. This is the ONLY reason Brodin is still playing on the 2nd pairing and not getting the most ice time Of any player on the entire team. If he got 1:30-2.00 of every power play like Suter does, he would easily be around 35-40 points this year.
I’m not going to get into a pissing contest about his trade value vs someone else’s, but I want you all to understand that Jonas Brodin is a terrific hockey player and a bonafide top-pairing D based on any fancy stat used to analyze his play. Every facet of his game is excellent now he that is (finally) producing offensively. He’s the real deal
Off my soapbox now...carry on.

If the Wild pursue Lee
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>"according to Craig Custance, Arizona has said they're "willing to move this pick in return for a front line offensive player." They do exactly that with this trade."
Hope the Leafs in on this discussion. Nylander at 7m for five years...cash payout of 4.9m per year.</div></div>
If Nylander is available, I hope the Wild are in. Apparently Fenton was in this past fall but he wasn't willing to trade Spurgeon or Dumba for him.
