So his cap hit will end up at $4,000,000 (or he won't play at all).

Most of his cap hit will probably carry over onto next years cap though.

You can bury $1,200,000 of a contract in the minors.

So when he gets sent down (and I'm sure he will at some point).

- They did take on Petersen's cap dump, but they didn't retain anything on Provorov.
- And they're rebuilding right now, so Petersen's deal will expire without affecting them.

Yeah these forums are wildly inconsistent.

<strong>Will Nylander</strong> = <strong>0.73</strong> points per game after 185 games ... signed for <strong>8.7%</strong> of the salary cap = <em><strong>"DuBaS gOt BeNt OvEr"</strong></em>
<strong>Cole Caufield</strong> = <strong>0.68</strong> points per game after 123 games ... signed for <strong>9.5%</strong> of the salary cap = <em><strong>"WhAt A fRiGgIn StEeLl"</strong></em>

If Caufield starts the season with a lower SH% he's gonna have a rough year.

<strong>Why do you guys think Matthews will get $14,500,000 when MacKinnon just signed for $12,600,000?</strong>

- Their contract start dates are only 1 year apart.
- MacKinnon is outplaying Matthews this year, and he won a cup last year.
- The cap is currently almost exactly the same as when Matthews signed his last extension.
- Matthews has already vastly out earned MacKinnon for the past 5 years (by like $5,300,000 per year).

My guess would be:

- <strong>Matthews = $12,700,000</strong> x 8 (he pulls a MacKinnon to become the new highest paid player).
- <strong>Nylander = $9,500,000</strong> x 8 (he doesn't have a 10 million track record yet, but if he waits until next year he'll get it).

And there are only 3 meaningful extensions.

$2,400,000 - Samsonov
$3,900,000 - Bunting
$2,100,000 - O'Reilly

I'm sure they won't cost $10 million more than that.
