<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JayBeagleFanAccount</b></div><div>McDavid would still probably have good advanced stats because he can drive play like a truck and is the best player in the NHL. Rantanen doesnt drive play at all and if you took him away from MacKinnon he would struggle. Laine is a pp merchant who only has one elite aspect, his shot. Risto is just not good, dont see why people think he's good. Burns is genuinely tragic defensively, 11th percentile in xGA and 27th percentile in shots against. OEL also has pretty bad stats, 16th percentile xGF%, 18th percentile xGA, 41st percentile in cf%, and 26th percentile in shots against.</div></div>

so when i say advanced stats arent everything you go and read me a bunch of advanced stats? also have you noticed that mackinnon wasnt the player he was until he got on a line with Rantanen? Mackinnon couldnt do what he was doing with whatever players he played with before. also Rantanen was a 10th overall pick, he didnt become a 10th overall pick cause he got carried in finland. so lets not take anything away from Rantanen, im sure he would do fine on a line with an average center, maybe not the same point production, but im sure he would still pull 70+ points and 20+ goals. also regarding laine and boeser (assuming its the same argument for both) scoring wingers arent there to play defense, theyre there for scoring goals and being a weapon on the pp. as long as they arent liabilities on the back end you shouldnt worry too much about their defensive abilities. yes defense is important, so if they were centers i would be worried, but being wingers they are there to score and put up points.
