I don't think you see a single offersheet this year. Owners are unified to get their cap together after this disaster. They aren't trying to build bad blood.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>claysbar</b></div><div>So, back to the original point, what needs to be added?</div></div>
I dont think anything Pittsburgh would be willing to give up would be attractive to Chicago. From the 3 trade perspective, I could see them going for NYR's 1st rounder, maybe Kravtsov (idk how hes been doing recently tbh). Part of the appeal for CHI to keep debrincat is we already have him locked up for the next 3 years at a reasonable cap hit. Idk who else NYR has in their system that would have big enough value to appeal for Debrincat that they would be comfortable giving up. I could see Deangelo being a target as well

There doesnt need to be a debrincat to guentzel comparison to note that the value in this trade is off. Sure guentzel is the better player and it isnt particularly close. But Debrincat is worth more than POJ and Strome. Debrincat isnt going to be moved for young unproven talent or draft picks, because chances are they aren't going to find someone who has his shooting ability with any pick after the top 10. If he gets moved, it would probably be for someone who is either on his same plane (a young but proven talent who has control), or someone who is going to help them push for a cup "one last time" (I sure hope not)

Guentzel crumbled and had to be reunited with Sid while Cat potted 40. If you cant see the difference there then there is nothing further to discuss</div></div>
lmao just stop. 1st. Guentzel was tried as a center and it didnt work because guess what.... hes not a center. Crazy. 2nd. Look at who he had on his line in the very few games they had him at center. And if Debrincat is so great and can play without Kane ot Toews, how's come he didnt even score 20 this year and majority of his goals came on the powerplay?

I just saw Debrincat’s stats & he is even pretty good defensively. Still, Guentzel is way better. He set a playoff record for goals by a rookie & then put up 21 points in 12 games the following postseason. What has DeBrincat done?

Thats one of the dumbest things I ever read. A guy who is in his 3rd full season isn't going to get better because hes 26? And if Guentzel only scored 40 because of Crosby, why is their other lineman, Dom Simon, unable to score 10? And what about this year without Crosby. He was on pace to have another 40 goal year. Let me guess, it was because of Malkin right? Plus its funny how youre saying Guentzel only scored 40 because of Sid, but look what happened when Cat isn't on a line with any HOF'ers

If they did a significant reduction like this, it would be accompanied by rollbacks of current salaries like they did with the original salary cap season in 2005-06. All current contract values would take a 25-40% reduction. Would be a tough sell to the NHLPA to get them to accept significant rollbacks, but might be preferable to allowing the players to keep their current salaries and lose the money to escrow instead.
Don't forget, the players only get 50% of revenues, whether it comes off the front in reduction of salary or off the back through escrow, they're not entitled to $1 over 50% of league revenues. If that is down 40% due to the pandemic, then it might be preferable for them to accept the reduction in salaries.

I like Ennis possibly as the #3C. Zero need for Thornton. He's old, slow, and won't contribute much. While Gardiner is better than JJ, a million times is a stretch. Murray doesn't deserve that contract. He'll probably come back for 1-2 years around $3.5-4M.

That’s incredible knowledge of pens history. Hindsight is way better than 20/20. Awesome and obviously took a lot of work. Great job. Very sound logically although in the moment of those situations, the pens front office couldn’t see the future...but for a hindsight post...15 out of 10. Really good stuff. Top-10 ACGM I’ve seen simply because of detail and no ridiculously illogical Marner/Lafreniere trades. Lol.

With that said, if he can play on a 1st line with Sid/Zucker and then keep Guentz with Geno and Rust then it could be worth it.</div></div>

Isn’t that the point of “good signings”? Depth guys step up when others are injured. Pens are still contenders. No need to do anything crazy to this team. Run the Murray/Jarry tandom next season, move out Jugs / Johnson somehow, add some help on the bottom pairing, and maybe add a good face off centre for the 3rd line

What would Vinnie Hinostroza cost
i think you're in a situation where ARZ over value's him
you'd have an easier time getting Christian Fischer who's done nothing
but decline since the new GM's systems been molded in such a way that doesnt seem to need him .
(similar to Domi he's just not blending with the direction they're building and on a 2 year decline same as Domi before his summer trade)
Personally i was hoping MTL would get him as we needed a middle 6 winger but then Suzuki stepped up .
Now Armia and Evans have made cases for promotion on RW plus factor in Ylonen's in Laval when stuff starts back up
PIT though could use him and his chippy hard nosed style would fit in with your needs as he would draw tons of attention creating even more room for Zucker and Crosby .
VH is more clear cut and you know what to expect
CF you either end up with a awesome 4th line winger and PK2 guy or you end up with a top 6 RW who will succeed purely on cycling pucks to Crosby and Malkin .(likely getting a lot of 2nd assists )
CF is the bigger gamble but has the biggest upside for growth at 23 (or will be by next season)
i'm actually excited about this concept as Fischers the perfect guy to play Rodeo Clown for an Elite level Talent
Whether it be Crosby,Malkin ,Mcdavid,Drisatl,Overchkin,Mathews,Tavares ,Toews ,Kane or Eichel
Maybe on his own he's an Andrew Shaw type utility player and spark plug
But with Elite skill he could be one of those heart and soul blue collar guys you love to see succeed

We Deserved That Game
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pharrow</b></div><div>dude your chemistry excuse is so bad it's not even funny.
Yeah two guys who have been playing with each other for YEARS suddenly need to work on chemistry. FFS Letang was a -4 and played like absolute **** and went from playing with JJ to Dumo and it's Chemistry. FFS you replaced what might be the worst defense man on the team with a solid #1 LD and the issue is chemistry.
Tell you what sherlock, you give me a better explanation than their head was not in the game at all.
Me and the whole rest of the world will be waiting on it.
Hell they got out hit like 40 something to 20 something by the end of the 2nd period. Come tell me there was "effort"
Just another one of your really bad takes.</div></div>
Can't believe you sent an entire paragraph and still didn't answer the question. I asked you who on the team wasn't trying and you couldn't answer because you realize you got called out for not knowing what you're talking about.
"Yeah two guys who have been playing with each other for YEARS suddenly need to work on chemistry." This is gonna sound crazy but don't you think perhaps they could've just had a bad game? Maybe not every time somebody loses in sports it isn't because they "choked" or "didn't try" maybe the other team was better on that day. Maybe athletes are human beings like the rest of us that make mistakes. We lost the game because Letang made horrible mistakes and the Capitals scored on them. We didn't lose the game because they "didn't try hard enough". And once again how the hell would you know whether someone is trying or not? Please let me know who on the Penguins wasn't trying that game.
"Me and the whole rest of the world will be waiting on it." Who is "the rest of the world"? The other **** yinzers you hang out with who think they sound like they understand hockey by saying certain guys on the team "suck" or "aren't trying" without offering any evidence as to why? I bet you probably hang out with a bunch of yes men who tell you what you want to hear and agree with everything you say. That's probably why you make such stupid arguments on here
"Hell they got out hit like 40 something to 20 something by the end of the 2nd period. Come tell me there was "effort"" Maybe we got outhit because the Capitals are a bigger, more physical team than us and have goons like Tom Wilson out there. I'd love for you to fight an actual boxer and get your face knocked in so I can tell you that you "didn't try hard enough". I'd love for you to show how much "effort" you have by trying to hit someone much taller and heavier like Ovechkin, Wilson, Hathaway, or Dillon. Maybe they should focus on outscoring the other team rather than trying to outhit them. What a stupid argument.

Geno and Letang need to be discussed, Bjug's and Murray should be moved for what they can get. Granted they have become an annually "Hot March" team but it's a 1/4 way thru and it's not looking good.</div></div>
When guys were injured the team had to really push every shift to win and we had to have guys step up. We were better with McCann as our 2nd line center because there was a real sense of urgency that if they didn’t play that way they were going to miss the playoffs. That team in December looked like it could go all the way but this team looks like just another playoff team in the East. They have to get back to the simple game they were playing earlier in the year and I know they can. Winning disguises a lot of underlying issues that get exposed with losing and hopefully we make the adjustments and start playing better. Cause the playoffs have already started in a way considering our next 10 games are against the Metro and every team in the Metro except for New Jersey can make the playoffs
