2019 Offseason Re-do
That would have been the beauty of this too, the lines could have mixed a lot of different ways. You could have seen Colliton going with Toews-Kane together more, keeping Saad and Anisimov together on the 3rd as a checking line. Even guys like Caggiula and Kahun (shown 4th line here) demonstrated the ability to play anywhere in the lineup. Point is, TONS of skill and versatility in this group.
Exo I'm with you on the Byram thing, picking that high I think it's a complete sin to do anything BUT take the best player and highest ceiling available. Byram, Boqvist, Joki, Mitchell, and Beaudin would have been one impressive young core on D.
Oh Well... Fun to think about

2020 Expansion In Mind
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>exo2769</b></div><div>Joki isn't exempt, but he'll be protected and Seattle can choose from either Murphy or Maatta. The other thing I'd mention is what while I did read the description for the Vegas trade saying that Vegas would need to add more...how much more? I mean Cody Glass??? The Hawks should be looking for 1st rounders which isn't just yadda yadda yadda. Or maybe just making the playoffs hoping for a cup and letting him go for free.</div></div>
That's right. Either way, it maintains the idea that Murphy or Maatta are off the books next summer.
I like the idea with Vegas. Ideally what they add would be a younger player on an ELC that fits into the Top 9 in 2020-2021. Whether that's a early round draft pick this year or a promising prospect currently in their system.

Blackhawks with Cozens Boqvist and Jokiharju
I like the idea of moving Kahun to 3RW to play with Saad and Cozens, that way the 4th line can consist of Kubalik/Kampf/ and either Hayden, Caggiula or one of the younger gritty AHL guys... that way the whole bottom 6 is a little more balanced

Can't see Panarin returning without Arty being in the picture. Keep him, and don't sign Dzingel... still leaves plenty of cap for the Strome/Debrincat extensions next year (factoring in a Crawford pay-cut, increase in salary cap, and someone like Murphy being traded).
I do like the idea of that 4th line, had it in my post yesterday too. Their speed could make for a dangerous forecheck and they have some scoring punch as well.

True. Even if Dzingel's market is around 5.5M, Hawks could always save that for Strome in 2020 and hope Sikura can finally live up to expectations and fill that 3LW spot here.

Option 2 Keeping Pick
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ajp_18</b></div><div>I don’t think Columbus makes that trade... Murray was our best LHD when he was healthy earlier in the year. The only reason I think they might looking into it was because of Murray’s injury history. Also it’s not like we won’t have the cap room to resign Murray with Panarin, Bobrovsky, Duchene and Dzingle likely to leave town.</div></div>
Makes sense. Although, I'm operating under the idea that a deep run for Columbus could potentially lead to at least a few of them possibly re-signing. Mentioned above that they would only make the trade because of that.

Option 1 Trading Back
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BeterChiarelli</b></div><div>If the Hawks don't take Byram at 3, the odds of him making it to #6 are incredibly diminutive. Both Colorado and Los Angeles have a ton of precedent to take him with their picks.
Playing behind Bouchard, while great for the Knights, probably wasn't ideal for Boqvist. I'd strongly look at giving him a year in Rockford just to help him continue adjusting to North American ice and building his confidence. If Gustafsson's ask is less than $5M, make moving Murphy the priority so he can help Boqvist acclimate to life in Chicago.
You're overpaying Dzingel by at least $1M. Hayes is hard to judge based on how he hasn't performed for the Jets.</div></div>
Thanks for the feedback. Maybe wishful thinking that Byram would be there at 6, hoping the Top 5 is forward dominated. Moving Murphy definitely has to be a priority to open up playing time for the young guys, not to mention his near 4M cap hit.
Wasn't too sure with Dzingel... originally had 5.75M but raised only due to the FA market these days. Should be interesting to see what everyone gets.

Great. Even more of an opportunity for Hawks in terms of compensation then if they want to move back. Obviously, all of this changes if Vasili is North American bound. I'm well aware of that

Maybe Joki instead of Beaudin and Hayden instead of Forsling? Think that improves the offer in both aspects. Although, at that point Hawks would probably just take their chances in free agency over this.

I get that, but you have to take advantage of your stars playing this well. They might only have 2 years left at THIS level of play, makes me think you go for it now and not worry about who you would be drafting with 2019-2020 First Rounders... by the time those guys are contributing the window is likely closed shut anyway

Sell (for now)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hockeyplayer1</b></div><div>What's the condition on the Kempny trade? I personally believe he is worth more than a 4th to a lot of teams in the league, especially contenders at the deadline. He is a very nice 3rd pairing/depth piece for a contender with D issues.
I'd have to think that Kero and Franson pull way more than a 5th. While yes they both passed through waivers there are often GM to GM relationships as to why they do. GMs don't want to "step on each others feet" if they don't HAVE to. There are many decent players passed through waivers every year that don't get claimed but then maybe are later traded.
Now with all that said I don't envision getting a 2nd round pick in return, but maybe a young prospect and a pick.
I'd hope Stan wouldn't trade Anisimov for a 2nd and 3rd. He is on a very reasonable contract and is a solid 2nd line center or great 3rd line center. Players like that usually go for a lot more on the trade market. The hawks will also need to fill his center spot with someone, which they currently don't have in the system.</div></div>
Appreciate the feedback. All trades here were obviously tilted to the side of what the Hawks can definitely get, opposed to stretching them out for unrealistic returns. Hoping it would show a glimpse of what this could turn into.
I imagined the condition as a 4th that becomes a 3rd if Toronto makes it to the 2nd round and he plays in 75% of the games, or something of that nature.
It really seems to me that Kero is blocked in our organization because he isn't a Top 9 C, and Q often prefers veterans or "tough to play against" agitators on his bottom line. He'd be stuck in Rockford anyway, due to the fact Sikura is coming, and Kampf has shown more speed and skill than Kero has. Franson was obviously brought in because of the question marks on D to begin the year, but pleasant surprises have made him expendable. If we could get a 4th for the two, I'd be happy.
Art would almost certainly bring back a relatively high-end prospect with a mid-round pick, but as I alluded to above, I'm not exactly sure what prospects a team like PIT would be willing to give up, so draft picks were for show. Like I said though, turning 30 in May, 3 full seasons left on his deal after this year, and injury concerns these past two seasons... not sure his value is quite as high as we would like it to be.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>exo2769</b></div><div>I'd honestly be talking with WAS about what they'd give the Hawks for taking on Orpik too. Could allow them to make another trade @ the TDL and could be worth something for dropping that cap hit.
Yeah PIT would definitely do this. I'd be hoping to get more as a Hawks fan. AA's on a good contract and plays a 200 foot game.</div></div>
Yeah, it would probably be a slightly better return for Art. I'm not as in tune with PIT's roster and the young player(s) they'd be willing to give up. If it was only draft picks, maybe 2 seconds then (similar to Shaw trade). My only thought is does being 29 (with a slight injury history) and 4 more years at 4.5 M hinder that return? Not sure.
As for WSH, I don't mind the idea of being on the other end of a "Bickell + Teuvo trade", however with Orpik under contract through next season, sending out a D with both Seabrook and Orpik next year would terrify me.

Deadline Trade w/ TOR
Like the idea of both guys being UFA's after the season, but hesitant to part with first rounders at this point. I had a similar trade in mind, sending Hayden, Pokka, and a 2019 2nd for JVR... Putting Schmaltz at 3C, slotting Debrincat in at his natural RW position, and leaving everything else the same. Probably wishful thinking, but I hope by deadline time Debrincat is ready for the show, especially getting a shot with possession driving guys like Saader and Johnny.

Just my two cents
I would be very pleased if this came to fruition. I still believe Forsling makes the team out of camp, especially because I could see the Hawks taking 8D. I also think John Hayden gets the first crack at a bottom 6 winger role over Dauphin. I see Dauphin, Hino, Debrincat, and Pokka all starting in Rockford but as players who are on Stan's radar as possible call-ups by December. Also, You would have to give up much more than Arty to acquire the RFA rights to a 23 year old Galchenyuk, otherwise simply signing him to an offer sheet at that amount would result in serious draft pick compensation. They would likely want Art, a serviceable D-man (2nd/3rd pair), and possibly a pick. For conversations sake, maybe you flip Merrill to them, with Anisimov and a late pick, and it's something MTL considers. Regardless, I like the signings. You may be a little low on the Gagner contract, his market value is around 2.5-3.0, so I can't see any instance where he takes less than 2.0. Fortunately you left cap space, so you could give Gagner 2.5 and still have room for a trade deadline addition. Everything is obviously contingent on the Hossa situation, hopefully the NHL has given the Hawks some information so Stan is able to approach free agency without any question marks. Otherwise, I don't see Hossa waiving his NMC for a contract trade anyone if he truly believes he is only taking a year off, and then attempting to return. In other words, a trade would be an admittance form Hossa that he is indeed retiring and it is simply a "Pronger" trade. Tough call for him to make at this point, and hate to see him rush that decision. It will be interesting to see the way it plays out.

Undercutting Vegas in CHI deal
He isn't a Top Pair D. He is certainly a serviceable 2nd pairing Dman at this point of his career, and I do think he'll improve in his own zone and find a permanent spot on a 2nd pairing. But right now, he is a reliable bottom pairing defenseman that you can trust more than most #5/#6's

Undercutting Vegas in CHI deal
Chicago probably says yes to that deal. Can re-sign Jurco and/or Rasmussen to cheap 1 year deals, and expose one of the two with Tootoo to meet requirement (Roszival already covers the D requirement).
Vegas then forced into taking a very replaceable guy in Jurco or Rasmussen while Hawks are getting back value for the players who actually have some.
I have to say, a Rasmussen, Tootoo, Roszival, Glass exposure list would have to be one of Vegas's worst options.

I do agree, and had Jurco/Krug/Hoss initially, but since Hino was the man sent down, I don't see Rasmussen playing with Kero and Hartman. I think they'll leave Moose/Krug/Hoss together for time being, Jurco serves a (slight) upgrade from Hino with Kero and Hartman... at least based on lines the last few nights

Agreed, the Sharp signing was just to see if it was possible for him to finish his career here (wishful thinking). Much more realistic that the money used for his hypothetical salary covers the likely bonuses earned in this upcoming season. Even if Campbell only plays another two years, Forsling will be waiting in the wings, looking like a solid group of D-men for years to come.
