Philadelphia Flyers signed Ivan Fedotov (2 Years / $3,275,000 AAV)
This deal makes a lot more sense to me than the Chicago overpays for vets. They're taking a two year bet for about 2 mil of cap space while they rebuild to hopefully get a goalie. Pretty good use of cap space during a rebuild.

Minnesota Wild signed Marc-André Fleury (1 Year / $2,500,000 AAV)
This is a poor deal given their cap space, but probably fine if they really wanted the veteran leadership for a year. Fleury has been bad this year, and has been okay to poor the two years prior. He's a hall of famer. And he's had great length of career. But he's not giving 2.5 mil on the ice and for a team with a tight cap, not ideal

(WSH/CAR) - Kuznetsov for 2025 3rd (CAR)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>YeahIDunno</b></div><div>Necas and Jarvis have never played center for them at the NHL level. It's possible Jarvis still might, at this point the ship has probably sailed on Necas at center for Rod.
The glass-half-empty view is that Drury/Staal/KK constitute 3 bottom-six centers rather than 3 top 9, as Drury/KK haven't proven offensive upside yet. The most successful offensive version using one of them was probably Svech/KK/Necas last year, but that line cratered when Svech got hurt - it wasn't being driven by the center.</div></div>
Okay makes sense. Thanks for explaining

(MIN/TOR) - Dewar for Ovchinnikov, 2026 4th (TOR)
This just makes me hate the reaves contract more. He seems a solid enough fourth liner but essentially a worse version of Lafferty who we had to dump for cap reasons for reaves. We'd be better off just having Lafferty

(WSH/CAR) - Kuznetsov for 2025 3rd (CAR)
Can someone who follows Carolina explain the fit to me here? Ignoring all the uniqueness of the situation (I think it's a reasonable gamble for a mid pick for his upside if a team trusts its player leadership group to insulate from any such issues), but it seems an odd fit on the ice
I don't watch Carolina beyond when they play teams I do watch so I may just be missing something, but it seems to me they have a #1c in aho, then 3 top 9 C's already in Staal, Drury, and KK. Plus my understanding is Necas is at least comfortable at c and maybe Jarvis too. So why are they of all teams acquiring him?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DealFinder67</b></div><div>Borgen is my #1 target at 2.7M and another year on his deal. These other guys aside from Middlestadt will cost more than Tre wants to spend. I’d say Lily, Robertson and a 3rd and maybe another pick for Borgen</div></div>
Borgen is a third pairing defenseman. He's good at what h does and I'd be happy to have him but he's never played top 4 minutes and is in his late 20s. If someone thinks he can take that next step I suppose we could gamble.

What would these guys cost and are they available
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hawksguy81</b></div><div>The fire sale in Chicago is over. With the recent extensions given to Dickinson, Foligno and Mrazak, the Hawks are apparently looking to establish some continuity in the roster for the next two seasons with their veteran leadership group. Of which Murphy is a key guy. Hawks have accumulated a TON of prospects and draft capital already. Next season they need to start winning some games.
McCabe was expendable last year because of the depth the Hawks had at LD in their system. They had multiple ready-to-go replacements. The Hawks don't have that same depth at RD. If they trade Murphy, it leaves a hole they can't fill internally.
Add to that Murphy bought a new home in Chicago last summer, and he and his wife (who is from Chicago) just announced they are expecting their first child later this year.</div></div>
Makes sense. Thanks for explaining.

Interesting. Why not? For the record I wanted him more than McCabe last year, but am happy enough with McCabe.
I'm surprised you say he's not available though. Seems like they'd appreciate assets as they are clearly rebuilding.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>futurehofer</b></div><div>First, he's at 19:57 with zero PP time so it's not like we're talking about someone getting 16 minutes. Second, he has another year left on a cheap contact when we still have one more year of cap hell left. We have no need to trade him so it will likely take somewhat of an overpayment to get him. To replace him in the lineup will likely cost us more so we would need a decent incentive to make our already complicated cap situation even worse.</div></div>
Ahh your cap hell. I forgot there was another year of it.

Philadelphia Flyers signed Owen Tippett (8 Years / $6,200,000 AAV)
This deal really makes me wish there was a neutral or okay option. I think this deal is very much that. This is similar to Dylan Larkin's first contract, Buchnevich's second contract, or Huberdeau's first. They all were more established as first liners and port scorers, though Tippet seems to have better goal scoring. I think this will be a good deal if he is a legit first liner, a fine/solid/okay deal if he is a second liner, and a poor deal if he's a third liner.

Bunting and fast have minimal value. Rental Pesce and a 20 something pick does not get you 1.5 years of Marner...

If Saros goes on market, there will be bidding war.
