You really can't be serious about that Hawks trade . This must be a joke . It's not even worth criticism it's such a bad trade for the Hawks.

Same with Vancouver makes absolutely no sense a non playoff team taking on a 3plus million dollar contract for a Ufa . If he was tradable to a contender why wouldn't the Leafs make the trade ????

What world do you live in ?? Hawks are in 2 nd last place . Why would they give Leafs a 2 nd rounder for taking on a cap dump Ufa ?????????????????????????????

You do realize it's about putting yourself in the best position possible to win the cup . Getting to the first or second or even Conference final is not the goal winning the cup is . Hurricanes are full of young talent window to win won't stay open forever at most another 2 to max 4 yrs . So trading picks and or prospects that won't be part of that window is not the end of the world .

Deadline Chicago
Can not retain on more then three contracts . Hawks will not retain on McCabe for 3 yrs and Lafferty for 2 . And taking on two Ufa cap dumps will cost a 2nd plus . So in short this is not nearly enough for Hawks to consider this . Leafs first will probably in the 25-29 range so it's not worth as much as Leafs fans seem to think .

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>babouie</b></div><div>So you think the writing is on the wall for this roster because of their age right ??? So why would they not be all in ?? This is the best Bruins team I have seen in yrs . They need depth because of there age because they might burnout playing every night in playoffs . This team should be all in this year . The point of playing is to win the cup not to look good in the regular season ( Toronto ) the Bruins will go into major rebuild for next season or the season after that's a given . All the more reason to be all in now . I would sacrifice 5 seasons of bottom ten finishes to win a cup without question . As would just about every team and player because that's what this is all about . I am a hawk fan aswell and feel the pain but knowing I got to see my Hawks lift the cup 3 times makes it worth it . Very few fans have seen their team in this day and age win three championships in ten yrs .</div></div>

You do realize that that will be a very late 2 nd rounder . You are asking the Hawks to retain 2 mil per year for 3 yrs . For a 50-60 overall pick two drafts from now . Would you do this for a very late 2nd in two yrs . The prospect is a bust .

SOFTEST CREAM PUFF TEAM IN THE LEAGUE THAT GETS B SLAPPED IN THE FIRST ROUND OF THE PLAYOFFS , DOES NOT NEED SIZE ATTITUDE GRIT AND A TOP FACEOFF MAN ???????????? This is the mentality that has made the leafs a top 3 regular season team and playoff wall flower . This is exactly what leafs need . DOMI is on pace for 28 goals 65 points with a 56 faceoff percentage . [ Kerfoot 39 faceoff percentage ] Tinordi is just size and depth and a hitting machine . MACABE is a top 4 dman who block shots and is a good penalty killer something the leafs do not have enough of he is a much better dman then HOLL

POOL PARTY is 24 yrs old . He has 6 yrs nhl experience and is on pace for 7 goals . At this point he is a totally and complete bust as a top 6 forward if he can not put up numbers with the oilers offence playing wide open hockey . He would be be even less effective on another team . He actually has negative value because of bad contract. There is a reason no one offered more then a 3rd for him when he was being shopped . Oilers will cut him loose after this season they will not qualify him at 3.3 million . He will probably end up back in europe .

Murphy plays both sides not just rhd . Pool party gets released by hawks after season ends . He is a bust at this point he was included to make the cap work . It will cost 3.3 mil to qualify him .

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DefenseFirst</b></div><div>Both these deals are very bad for Boston.
Edit: habs fan, now it makes more sense</div></div>
COYLE has a horrible contract . Paying 5.25 miilion to a 3rd line center for a player that gets 10 to 16 goals a year . That said trade does not make sense for both teams . Hawks wont take back a horrible long term contract . Hawks getting a very very late 1st and giving back a 2nd is not enough of a return for JT . If hawks are retaining 5.25 mil it has to be at least a 1st coming back . TOEWS IS ON A PACE FOR 25 GOALS . JT and Bergeron are 2 of the top 10 faceoff men in the league JT has a 64 faceoff percent he can give 37 year old Bergeron a break during long grind of the playoffs . He is easily worth a 1st rounder on his own

Three years left on his deal . No team is taking on his 3 x 3.25 mil contract for a 20 point a season player . That is to much term a cap to swallow for 3 years for what he brings to the table .

Sandin can become a top 4 or 5 dman . Kerfoot can be trade at the deadline as can Holl they are on one 1 year deals . hawks can probably get a2nd or 2 3rds for kerfoot and a 3rd or 4th for Holl at the deadline .
