Kane isn’t right and he won’t get right this year. Plus based on reports that rags thought his asking price was too high so they switched to Tara, I don’t want to pay what it may cost to get him.

ROR foot injury is gonna be hard to bounce back from in season on top of switching teams. And against the price is probably too high.

Kulikov might be fine but think there are better options. Unfortunately I was hoping for Mikkola as one of those.

You do realize it's about putting yourself in the best position possible to win the cup . Getting to the first or second or even Conference final is not the goal winning the cup is . Hurricanes are full of young talent window to win won't stay open forever at most another 2 to max 4 yrs . So trading picks and or prospects that won't be part of that window is not the end of the world .

Kane is injured and not worth 4 assets.

The Panthers overspent on rentals last year. How’d that work out for them? Oh yeah, they’re fighting tooth and nail for a playoff spot with no assets left to improve their team this year and also no 1st round picks for the foreseeable future.

The Canes philosophy is to be good, perennially. Blowing your wad one year for rentals is generally a losing proposition considering the playoffs are a complete crapshoot. I’m all for them improving the team, but they aren’t going to pay rental prices.

Re-signing ROR for 6yrs is ridiculous at his age.
