That's kind of disingenuous way of looking at it in all honesty. If Covid didn't kill the cap growth we wouldn't be taking about the big four the same way Tampa wouldn't be selling of top four d for peanuts.
The issue is the KD and the rest of the management team fail to see that the makeup of our bottom six is flawed. We have now got six guys with what 10 playoff goals in our new bottom six after have them score 5 over the last three season. We continue to rinse and repeat with the bottom six, the players change but the style doesn't.

Tampa was (is) the better team. They have a goalie that wins when his team needs him. The Leafs did not take advantage of his poor play early and he made them pay.
Tampa also had a very competitive natured bottom six that were not just passengers.
The Leafs are getting closer its just unfortunately the GM has yet to get the right mix in the bottom six or goalie that isn't a complete headcase

I agree with the Kerfoot part, outside of getting Sandin signed the Leaf's can start the season with what we have and move forward with a 20 man roster like we have over the last few seasons.
Only real for that could be forced is sending Holl out for Sandin and that's fine if no team will offer a pick we waive him and a team will claim him as we have witnessed in the past teams love the Leaf wavier guys.
Getting nothing for Holl sucks but better than paying a team to take him like others have suggested it take.

Toronto loved regular season Fred just like Canes fans did last season, the problem we had with Fred was that he would give up soft goals when we needed him in the playoffs and with injuries the two season before we let him walk he became unreliable. I hope that Fred can stay healthy for the Canes this season and prove everyone wrong and win the big game when it matters but until he does that the Canes have just as much risk/questions when the playoffs roll around next season in net as the Leafs did with him.

As for Mrazek, he was awful when he was in net and gave up a ton of weak goals that had very little to do with the Leaf's D.</div></div>
