Yawn all you want but caps just added chychrun Roy and if Dubois ever wakes up ... we brought back Kane who can get injured in any moment
Time to be realistic ... at this point I expect us to resign Gostisbehere when he sees he won’t get the money in free agency and comes back with his tail between his legs

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GoofyFoFoofy</b></div><div>Rumors are just rumors at the end of the day. Yes he's had talks but at the same time there's a big question of feasibility to trade him, and with only 2 years left on his contract it's still a very real possibility he finishes his contract still wearing blue. We can all speculate how a trade with him would look like but it's very hard to know what the market for him actually is. We've already seen Goodrow be taken for free meanwhile Walman who's an actually good hockey player unlike Goodrow had to have a 2nd attached to him to be dumped. I honestly don't know what to expect when it comes to Trouba.</div></div>
Should be an interesting few days

I’m sure they’ve had talks with gm’s already and know take him on or not and I’m sure Trouba already knows he’s being shopped. Can’t keep anything a secret anymore and judging by everything I seen online and how some fans are desperate to get rid of him and rumours of Kane wanting to go back to ny I I think the writing is on the wall and his days are numbered

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>WhoCares_ItsAFantasyGame</b></div><div>Then in my opinion, the trade wouldn't happen. You mention a cheap 3rd pairing defenseman. Kovacevic isn't that, he's better than it seems because he was on a difficult team to play on. Defensively he's better than most of our guys at this stage. To get him, you'd have to attach more like that 3rd pick.
Veleno isn't a one to one for him since he has not shown enough growth in his play. Barron is more likely since he'll be a project for under a million for 2 to 3 years. If they can get his defense up in Detroit, he's going to be a top 4. If not, he'll stay a bottom 2 but play on the powerplays.</div></div>
Cheap as in $ . He’s making less than 800k. Ya I got zero interest in Barron. With pelikka in the pipeline he’ll never be a top 4 guy or get ppl time .. ya wouldn’t work out between us then

Yes lol misread that it kicked in July 1st . I’m sure he’d waive it to go back to his hometown but what do I know ... anyways can’t imagine too many teams capable of taking on his 8 mill hit

Offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>WhoCares_ItsAFantasyGame</b></div><div>I don't hate the MTL trade, but I'd do Barron instead of Kovacevic.
It would seem to be more on par for a one to one trade. Barron is a bit less than half in NHL games, and has half his points total. They both are in development phases and their potential is good but Barron is 2 yrs younger and Defensemen tend to take an extra year or two to fully mature in terms of play. Both late 1st round picks and both RFAs.
Kovacevic is more advanced in his role inside a team, he goes well in MTL on the second or third pairing, so if he goes for Veleno I think Detroit would need to add a 3rd round pick. I don't hate Veleno, but two full years and he barely cracked 28 pts last year and is consistently in the minuses and at 24yr old is still having lots of issues in his play.
I don't hate the trade, just more bias in terms of who should be dealt to Detroit for him.</div></div>
Personally would be interested in kovacevic more as we need to get better defensively on the back end and he’d be a ufa after a year anyways and veleno wouldn’t. Wouldn’t attach a 3rd and would just test free agency for a cheap 3rd pairing dman

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GoofyFoFoofy</b></div><div>That Trouba trade is unrealistic, he has a NMC until 7/1 so the 2024 1st isn't getting traded, and Drury also doesn't like trade picks too far in advance, especially now when he's already traded away so many future picks. Rangers can retain 2m or take back Holl/Petry/Maatta if that works.</div></div>
If you guys are that desperate to get rid of him I’d send holl your way rather than switch draft spots ... if it was that easy it be done by now I’m sure. I’m sure saving 8 million off the cap is more valuable than adding a holl

Well it’s not attaching an asset really. Still keeping a pick just dropping 17 spots

Because nothing yzermans done has made sense
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMBL</b></div><div>I think Yzerman got that 2nd just to dump Walman, so it would probably be Gibson + a 7th instead of having just the other guy.
I guess we'll see. When does CF go dark?</div></div>
Doesn’t matter he got a 2nd shouldn’t just give it away . At the end of the day walman and his contract being only 2 years at a reasonable cap hit shouldn’t have needed a 2nd attached. The fact a lot of gm’s didn’t know walman was available makes it even worse ... all it takes is one gm to say ok I’ll give you a 7th for walman
It’s a fail of a trade .. now if I’m the sharks I make walman available at 1.7 hit next deadline and get another 2nd back and a 4th or whatever it is they can get
Gibson walman for kiskinen ,2nd,7th and 3.4 cap space could have easily happened imo . Anyways
Sadly I think like July 5th

Because nothing yzermans done has made sense
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMBL</b></div><div>Sharks don't have any retention spots left, so that or something like it won't be happening. I'm sure there would have been teams willing to give a 7th, but why would you want to send him to a team that is within division for example or one that is competing for a measly 7th? He sent him to the worst bad team in the other conference, in terms of current roster and future outlook, which is essentially the best case scenario for a dump. As of now, losing the 2nd RD pick that they didn't have a week ago doesn't matter. What he does with the cap space absolutely does matter because that will determine if he dumped Walman (and I guess Gibson) for no reason. If dumping Walman turns out to be a bad decision then losing the pick just amplifies the severity of the situation, but it's not like if he had gotten a 7th or a even a 2nd that would make a bad situation good, it would just make it not as bad.</div></div>
Not just for a measley 7th your also retaining the 2nd you sent. I don’t care if it’s the leafs I’d much rather have done walman for a 7th. Doesn’t matter that we didn’t have the 2nd last week we gave one up to move someone we didn’t need to use it on. Wasn’t even a holl for example ... end of the day t desnt make much sense. Had heard somewhere maybe Sj would claim holl on waivers cause Sj are on his no trade list but it would have happened by now
This trade was a big fail by Yzerman

Lmao ducks have been trying to move gibson for years and he’s still there , almost a certainty you’ll have to eat salary . In this scenario I stated above the sharks would be eating money. Anyways At this point I’m starting to think Gibson being a redwing is all but certain as well
Can’t imagine a first being involved and huge assets maybe someone verbeek likes from when he was in Detroit. Soderblom? Tuomisto? Is involved in the deal... who knows

Doesn’t matter what he does with that cap space. If the wings get like a Trouba and sharks don’t eat like 2 mill for 2 years this deal makes zero sense. A lot of gm’s already said they didn’t know walman was available with a 2nd and they’d be all over it. Telling me not one would send a 7th to us for walman? Sorry the deal was horrible
