There are absolutely a few guys in that list that are better than Jake, no question but not all.

easy no for the pens, they're not taking up $4.5M on Kampf and Jarnkrok, let alone paying assets for them. Money can be spent much better in the offseason and specifically around middle 6 Center and wings.

Lmao no. If we do trade him, it won’t be to the Rangers. You’re stuck with Goodrow.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Coachchippy</b></div><div>I mean a true top line wing is exactly what the Rangers need. But it ain't gonna be a 30yo with a career best 84 points who can walk in the summer for nothing, for that package. If the Rangers are going to give up those type of assets it's going to be for a bonafide young superstar who they'll lock up for a good amount of time. And if you think giving up all that for HIM makes sense for NYR.... spoken like a true Pens fan</div></div>
"a true top line wing is exactly what the Rangers need. But it ain't gonna be a 30yo with a career best 84 points" yeah, 2 40 goal seasons and a ppg player in the playoffs, why would any team want that to try and win a stanley cup, definitely dumb.
Also, critical reading is important, I don't think giving up all that for him makes sense because I said it's not enough for the Rangers lol. Korczak still has a lot to be determined, Pitlick is just a 4th line plug and it would appear that Kakko doesn't have anywhere near the value he did when he was drafted, so that gets you nothing.

Pits won't be retaining on Greaves. I assume some team would take him on without retention.

3rd is more than reasonable. 200k cap hit for 2 years in the minors. 3rd would be more than enough.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Leafsfan98</b></div><div>It's still happening and the same issues are still there, but the difference is that the refs are bailing the Oilers out tbh...
I watched that Habs game and others, and I see the same patterns as at the beginning of the season</div></div>
Yeah, positionless hockey works for kids just learning the game but let's be honest, adults need to have systems in place to keep them preforming at peak levels, it doesn't matter if it's hockey or garbage collection, systems are in place to make your job easier and to protect you and other people. Look at the last few years, the Habs have lead the league in man games lost due to injuries, even with Price and Weber excluded they have had significant injuries to important players. Maybe some of those players wouldn't have gotten injured if they weren't always running around puck chasing, there is less chance of injury if your players are in a zone defensive system than always chasing the puck.

I agree that’s best case scenario for both sides

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Victor24</b></div><div>Why zero chance? He can play with Crosby a few more years then get traded to a contender.
If he signs a FA deal worth 10MM over 7 years, that's 70MM. If he signs a 9MM over 8, that's 72MM. So he gets more money and keeps playing with one of the best forwards in NHL history.
It makes sense for the Pens to resign Guentzel
It makes sense for Guentzel to to resign with the Pens
I don't see your logic.</div></div>
Of course it makes sense for them but I can’t see it happening can’t see him wanting to stick around for a rebuild, but anything is possible he has only played there his entire career

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Victor24</b></div><div>If Crosby was traded, it would be in the offseason.
You can get more for Guentzel.
You'd better get more if you're taking on Campbell</div></div>
Agree 100% with this! I also believe if they were going to blow it up and shop the big three. It would be more so the big 2 (Malkin and Letang) which even this wouldn't happen. Crosby wouldn't be shopped but agreed. If they were going to make a trade for Malkin, Letang, or Crosby. It would be this offseason.
With that said, if you are blowing up the team and putting up the for sale sign, Karlsson, Smith, maybe Jarry (since goalie is a big need for a few contenders), Rust, Graves Lars Eller, and Acciari would definitely be names that are shopped and would have value around the league.

Pens Buy and Sell at TDL
"It’s time we let him go"?!?!? Ryan Graves hasn't played 45 games for you yet. He's third on your team in plus-minus (among defenders) and fourth in ice time. What did you expect from a guy who's new to the organization? And what if Noah Hanifin decides to go elsewhere next July? Then instead of having Ryan Graves for 5 more seasons as part of your top 4, you have a Ryan-Graves-sized hole that has to be re-filled, the cost of which is going to be increased by $1.5 million per season because of the retention. Meanwhile, you've also given up your 2024 first, which could be as early as 12th overall. And what's the basis for thinking that Hanifin is going to mesh better with the team in 35 games under fire than Graves has in 44 plus all of training camp?
Personally, as a completely disinterested outsider, this seems like a short-sighted and risky approach and highly likely to be a disastrously losing strategy.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Victor24</b></div><div>I agree with all of that (well most, truth be told it felt like I was reading a <em>terms of agreement</em>, so I didn't <strong>fully</strong> read it) but that is all based on emotion and rumors. We can speculate and show past examples but every year has a large standard deviation.</div></div>
Sometimes Goalies or Wingers get more,Sometimes less
Defense is hit and miss too
But Centers year in and year out get overpaid as a Rule
Used to be only those winning over 50% of Faceoffs
But Now even guys Struggling between NHL and finding a team like Plekky /Staal got paid in their worst years playing really bad.
Why? Supply vs demand and the gamble was worth it even if it was just to take the option away from a rival
Trade Deadline is different each year to a degree's
But when it comes to Centers there's not a single team selling low with multiple suitors.
Even that bum Henrique who's played 13 years has 13 playoff points all in his Rookie Year
He'll still get paid despite being the biggest Bum since Martin Hanzal at the TDL
