I do think this is flawed. Byfield I expect to sign for more. Curious to see if there are a few players they will not qualify. The Toffoli angle here makes no sense
What do you think his AAV would be on a 7 or 8 year contract?
Matt Roy is likely not someone they can sign. That’s painful</div></div>

I just didn't delete his signing after seeing if I could fit him into the cap space. If you don't resign Lizotte, Arvidsson, Grundstrom and get a cheaper goalie you could make it work.

True but I know enough about overages. I don't know the date of when your cap is decided for when they apply the overages or if it is automatically charged next year. If someone goes on LTIR before the end of the year maybe there won't be an overcharge.
I just chose Bahl as a big potential 3rd pair defensemen who can move up the lineup, but that is good to know! Kings could move Turcotte, Kaliyev or picks for that defenseman.

Looking at them
LA is was rumored to be looking at moving Arvidsson before the 3-way trade yesterday. Kings might be done with big moves, but if they are going after an expensive goalie Iafallo or Arvidsson would have to be moved. The value is probably accurate but I'm not sure if the Kings would want picks, prospects(LHD or goalie), or cheap depth players.

Hellebuyck Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Rob32sjsharks</b></div><div>I like Ozzy but sharks have a lot of smaller forwards and Grier is pushing bigger so that’s why I added him.
Sharks have more LD and little to no RD so this could work! but the only big stay home LD that are NHL close are Knyzhov and Thurn both just signed and not likely to be moved, we have Guryev Cicek and Othotiyuk all decent but would say they are C grade prospects (bottom pairing/ 7D guys) the 2nd plus Spence would be a light and I would say the return would be FC with that offer. 5 mil a year for 2 years of a cap dump is a lot to take on!
And Hellebuyck is probably not the best option for you guys, I would look at Ullmark since Boston is in such a cap crunch and could be had for less Gustavenson from Min since Wallstedt is NHL ready and utilizing Fleury last year if his deal to be a mentor would be smart, or even Lehner from Vegas</div></div>
In future Kings 2023 ACGM I will do Petersen, Spence, Helenius, and a 2nd in 2024 or 2025 if I send him to SJS for a 5th/6th pick. Helenius is a monstrous 6'6" 20 year center drafted in the 2nd with 2 more years on his ELC. He fits the type of player Grier wants, and your timeline. The trade would happen after Petersen's 4 million dollar signing bonus this summer(after the 2023 draft), so it's only 7 million in salary over the next 2 years.
I see Bruins fans sending Ullmark to LA a lot since they were eliminated, but he has a full NMC so I went with Helluybuck instead. Gustavsson is someone I wasn't considering, but I just saw Fleury has a NMC, and we did the Fiala trade with them last year. Hopefully Minnesota would take picks and prospects again. I don't think Rob Blake will move any impact NHL roster players for a goalie this summer and instead would resign Korpisalo, or keep Petersen and pry that he improves.

LAK Big Trade for Hellebuyck
I just did a similar scenario, but a key factor is Petersen has a M-NTC. He might be willing to go to the Jets to stay in the NHL but they might send him down as well. Walker is the most likely Kings player to be traded this offseason IMO so that could save you a lot of capspace.

Hellebuyck Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>wojohawk</b></div><div>I would strongly consider the proposed trade with the Hawks once the Kings pay Petersen's Summer bonus. I think once the bonus is paid, Petersen should cost a pair of 2nds (in the mid round range) to move. I think this package is around that range. Late 2nd, Spence a pretty good RHD where the Hawks have really nothing between Regula and Rinzel (who is a while out), and Madden as a change of scenery 3rd peiece is not a bad return. I would prefer switching Spence for Grans and lose the 7th and call it Petersen, 2nd, Grans and Madden for future consideration.</div></div>
Sounds good to me! I rate Spence as the better prospect as a guaranteed 3rd pair NHLer with top 4/PP time potential. Grans is younger, bigger, and has an extra ELC year so I understand wanting him instead. I was lazy and put the 7th but it would absolutely nothing back AKA FC.

We just signed Portillo, and Villalta had a great year in the starts he had in the AHL. I would expect us to resign him so Mann, a 24 year old goalie prospect, doesnt fit the timeline. Maybe an 18-20 year old goalie unsigned would work. Weisblatt would be interesting. If a Helluybuck/Ullmark level trade includes 2 of F**emo, Chromiak, and Laferriere we could want Weisblatt. Either to replace them on the AHL roster or be flipped in the trade for Helluybuck/Ullmark. I honestly don't see us moving a 1st at all in a Petersen capdump especially if it includes Spence. It would hurt Blakes ego too much to do it this offseason. Hypothetically if it was on the table we would want back a young big LD Defensive-Defensemen prospect on his ELC(better fit than Spence a RD offensive-defensemen) or the devils 2nd if it wasn't so complicated. the 2023 and 2025 3rds might work. Also why would you want to give up Ozzy Weisblatt? He seems like a prospect that fits your timeline.

Don't worry about it! You were actually helpful when it comes to teams that might be interested in Petersen. It is Rob Blake's job to say we are keeping Petersen to not lose any leverage. I think he is motivated to move him but we probably will keep him if a 1st and a B-A minus level prospect are needed. We have a deep C and RD prospect pool so those are the players most likely to be involved in a trade with a 2nd.

LOL well that went nowhere. I was not expecting the SJS fan or the Detroit Fans. I forgot they had their own underperforming 4+AAV goalie. Well Kaliyev, Lizotte, Grundstrom, Kupari, F**emo, Turcotte, Pinelli, Laferriere, Chromiak, Durzi, Spence, Bjornfot, Grans, Villalta, Portillo and 1st/2nds would be on the table. If a Jets fan who knows AHL/CHL Kings players want to comment what the Jets would want from us or just in general I'd appreciate it.

I thought about the sharks but I know you are in a cap crunch right now. I just checked and I guess you don't need to sign anyone to big deals in the next 2 years. Spence is a great prospect and is only in the AHL because we have 6 RDs capable of being in the NHL. Petersen is a wildcard but he could turn out to be an above average backup.

That is way too much to spend on one season of what could end up being average goaltending.</div></div>
Would you resign Korpisalo to a 4-4.5AAV 4 yearish deal, keep Peterson, or trade for someone else like Ullmark? The Kings were top 5 in xGA 5v5 last year so if Helluybuck is elite next year and the team performs again it should workout. I admit there is no guarantee both the Kings and Hellebuyck perform at the same level next year. The deal would probably include a huge extension but i'm not sure about the contract he would sign.

The future is bright!</div></div>
You can sign your own players(UFA and RFA) to 8 year deals. I did a 1 year deal for Vilardi which is the only option to keep him under 3 million unless he qualifies for arbitration this yea. IDK if he does . Those qualifying offers are 2-way deals meaning 10% salary in AHL. The minimum contracts offered to the RFAs are 1-way deals(either way they need to clear waivers) to guarantee full salary in NHL and AHL. Kupari could get a 1 AAV deal or take the QO but he would definitely make less than Grundstroms 1.3 AAV. What do you think of at least trying a Fiala, Danault, Kempe top line in the preseason? If it doesn't work go back to similar lines that we had before the Vilardi/Fiala injuries.

Canucks get Royded Up
Roy is unlikely to be moved in general but in particular for a young left-shot forward. Kings are okay with having a RHD on the left (likely Walker). Kings probably would only move Roy for a superior defensemen who plays on the left and would probably try to trade Walker first. Kings are likely to resign Durzi/Anderson to 1 year deals with a combined cap hit between 3.5-4AAV.

Retool for a new core
If there is an injury to one of the top Dmen the Kings would be interested in Dillon at the deadline assuming they are a locked in playoff team. The return could involve Vilardi but the Kings are super thin on right-shot forwards. If he earners a regular spot in the lineup this season the Kings would want to move other players/prospects. He did switch to RW by the end of the season and is likely his position moving forward. If he doesn't then his trade value would be near all-time lows and would require picks or a B prospect to get it done. Walker is probably going to play LD2 once he is fully healed.

My Way Too Early Guess At Trades Throughout The Sea
I don't think Durzi/Anderson will be making more than 4AAV combined next season so Lizotte doesn't have to be moved. If we are talking about a deadline move and Walker hasn't made himself a solid 2nd pairing LD the kings would move him for someone like Sanheim. Guessing the trade packages would be difficult. This is assuming Walker underperforms and Sanheim plays well. Lastly the Kings have to see themselves as legit contenders.

Would require the Kings to move on from Iafallo as well but the trade value seems reasonable for the kings knowing Philly has to clear cap space (similar to fiala deal). If THG thinks Provorov would be a great fit in LA I would consider it. Maybe the Kings use part of the asset from an Iafallo deal to get a 3rd team to retain salary.

Byfield and Kupari would have to start in the AHL next year if the kings resign JAD and Vilardi. That would be 13 one-way contracts and Kaliyev being the only 2-way waiver exempt forward.
