Description
Chicago fans I don't know if you would be willing to take Peterson's contract, I just chose a bad team with a ton of cap space. You seem okay with retaining cap hits and taking on bad contracts.

Jets fans what would you want for Hellebuyck if the team goes into a full rebuild from the Kings? Byfield and Clarke are nonstarters for Rob Blake in any trade and in this scenario Hellebuyck needs to be 50% retained. PLD, Wheeler, Schefflie, and Hellebuyck are all being made available in this scenario so retaining isn't a problem and you would be looking for young players. Peterson has a M-NTC so he won't be involved in the trade as well.

LOL well that went nowhere. I was not expecting the SJS fan or the Detroit Fans. I forgot they had their own underperforming 4+AAV goalie. Well Kaliyev, Lizotte, Grundstrom, Kupari, F**emo, Turcotte, Pinelli, Laferriere, Chromiak, Durzi, Spence, Bjornfot, Grans, Villalta, Portillo and 1st/2nds would be on the table. If a Jets fan who knows AHL/CHL Kings players want to comment what the Jets would want from us or just in general I'd appreciate it.

Sorry about that I was writing an ACGM with Petersen & your 25 1st for FC and saw this and had to comment lol.

Petersen doesn't need a change of scenery to rebound. He needs a summer of rest, followed by a strong training camp. Even with his substandard play, Petersen still went 5-3-2 in the NHL this season.

Actual dollars isn't important when it comes to trade value. There's only $6.85M in cap dollars on the table that the Kings need to clear, and they're not going to give up a 1st round pick or other quality assets to do so. If that's what it takes, the Kings will just keep Petersen and run him as backup to Copley all season. Then they can pursue a rental goaltender at the deadline again if the tandem isn't getting it done.

That’s great if you weren’t up against the cap ceiling like you are. And there is a lot of chatter about kings looking to fix their goaltending this offseason.

Blake just said in exit interviews that they're not giving up on Petersen and they expect him to be an NHL goaltender next season. Here's the interview.

Don't worry about it! You were actually helpful when it comes to teams that might be interested in Petersen. It is Rob Blake's job to say we are keeping Petersen to not lose any leverage. I think he is motivated to move him but we probably will keep him if a 1st and a B-A minus level prospect are needed. We have a deep C and RD prospect pool so those are the players most likely to be involved in a trade with a 2nd.

Would you consider
Petersen, 25 1st, Spence
For
Ozzy Weisblatt, Strauss Mann and a 4th?

We just signed Portillo, and Villalta had a great year in the starts he had in the AHL. I would expect us to resign him so Mann, a 24 year old goalie prospect, doesnt fit the timeline. Maybe an 18-20 year old goalie unsigned would work. Weisblatt would be interesting. If a Helluybuck/Ullmark level trade includes 2 of F**emo, Chromiak, and Laferriere we could want Weisblatt. Either to replace them on the AHL roster or be flipped in the trade for Helluybuck/Ullmark. I honestly don't see us moving a 1st at all in a Petersen capdump especially if it includes Spence. It would hurt Blakes ego too much to do it this offseason. Hypothetically if it was on the table we would want back a young big LD Defensive-Defensemen prospect on his ELC(better fit than Spence a RD offensive-defensemen) or the devils 2nd if it wasn't so complicated. the 2023 and 2025 3rds might work. Also why would you want to give up Ozzy Weisblatt? He seems like a prospect that fits your timeline.

I would strongly consider the proposed trade with the Hawks once the Kings pay Petersen's Summer bonus. I think once the bonus is paid, Petersen should cost a pair of 2nds (in the mid round range) to move. I think this package is around that range. Late 2nd, Spence a pretty good RHD where the Hawks have really nothing between Regula and Rinzel (who is a while out), and Madden as a change of scenery 3rd peiece is not a bad return. I would prefer switching Spence for Grans and lose the 7th and call it Petersen, 2nd, Grans and Madden for future consideration.

Sounds good to me! I rate Spence as the better prospect as a guaranteed 3rd pair NHLer with top 4/PP time potential. Grans is younger, bigger, and has an extra ELC year so I understand wanting him instead. I was lazy and put the 7th but it would absolutely nothing back AKA FC.

I like Ozzy but sharks have a lot of smaller forwards and Grier is pushing bigger so that’s why I added him.
Sharks have more LD and little to no RD so this could work! but the only big stay home LD that are NHL close are Knyzhov and Thurn both just signed and not likely to be moved, we have Guryev Cicek and Othotiyuk all decent but would say they are C grade prospects (bottom pairing/ 7D guys) the 2nd plus Spence would be a light and I would say the return would be FC with that offer. 5 mil a year for 2 years of a cap dump is a lot to take on!
And Hellebuyck is probably not the best option for you guys, I would look at Ullmark since Boston is in such a cap crunch and could be had for less Gustavenson from Min since Wallstedt is NHL ready and utilizing Fleury last year if his deal to be a mentor would be smart, or even Lehner from Vegas

Works for me. I like Grans fit better agewise. Hawks have a little bit of a RHD logjam until Murphy/Zaitsev move on or get to UFA, with Seth Jones not going anywhere and Regula a guy that needs some oppurtunity this season for at leasst some NHL games. There is next to nothing between Rinzel who is headed to college and going to be there for several years and Regula for RHD. I think a Petersen dump has to involve one of Grans, Spence, or Pinella for the Hawks to be involved, cause the 2nd round picks are end of the round (especially with Petersen's cap space to spend on players instead of being dead space).

In future Kings 2023 ACGM I will do Petersen, Spence, Helenius, and a 2nd in 2024 or 2025 if I send him to SJS for a 5th/6th pick. Helenius is a monstrous 6'6" 20 year center drafted in the 2nd with 2 more years on his ELC. He fits the type of player Grier wants, and your timeline. The trade would happen after Petersen's 4 million dollar signing bonus this summer(after the 2023 draft), so it's only 7 million in salary over the next 2 years.
I see Bruins fans sending Ullmark to LA a lot since they were eliminated, but he has a full NMC so I went with Helluybuck instead. Gustavsson is someone I wasn't considering, but I just saw Fleury has a NMC, and we did the Fiala trade with them last year. Hopefully Minnesota would take picks and prospects again. I don't think Rob Blake will move any impact NHL roster players for a goalie this summer and instead would resign Korpisalo, or keep Petersen and pry that he improves.

If it’s after the bonus Spence a 24 2nd and Petersen for a 6th is fair.

While it seems stupid to trade away a goalie who played as well as Gustavsson Min is in a huge cap crunch and paying him gets tough, especially with Fleury’s NMC and a goalie like Wallstedt who is going to be Elite in the AHL who could really benefit from a year or two backing up Fleury and getting that kind of mentorship!

If sharks were at all close to being competitive I would nix this deal and go after Gust myself but our timeline is 2-3 years out still
