Saros trade value
When the Campbell storyline comes to a close I hope the people saying it will take multiple firsts at least have the courage to admit they were wrong. It’s not happening.

As an oiler fan that won’t get ullmark. Also oilers won’t move Nuge going to need to go back to drawing board with this one.

Campell Buyout
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Campabee</b></div><div>Yeah I get that, I really do but there is a huge difference between trading picks to a rebuilding team and paying him to play for another contender. Buying him out is an option, I just don't see Oilers management liking that option. Campbell himself won't care too much since he can sign with another team for like 3 mil and still not be out money and his new team gets him cheap but really it's the Oil who lose the most since they would have to pay him for 6 years to play for another team. TBH, I think the Oil should look at paying a 3rd team to retain on him that way they get assets back and out of the deal and a 3 mil Campbell still has value around the league IMO</div></div>
With his save percentage over the past 2 and a half years I think after a buyout best he can hope for is a 1 million 1 year prove it deal. He struggled mightily for a large part of his final year in Toronto that doesn’t help being 2 teams in a row. Maybe if Edmonton retains half then gets another team to retain half the remainder maybe a team like sharks would take him for nothing.

Campell Buyout
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Campabee</b></div><div>That's an awful long time to pay someone to play for another team, and it's a hell of a risk that he won't bounce back with his new team and win a cup before the Oilers do. It's much more palatable to trade him to a rebuilding team who even with a good goalie isn't likely to win a cup before the contract runs out, rather than buy him out just to have him sign with another top team and win a cup.</div></div>
I hope Campbell does bounce back for another team. Not rooting for his career to come to a crashing end. It hasn’t worked here and he’s had plenty of opportunity.

This is a prime example as to why Edmonton won’t have to pay as much as people are constantly suggesting it will take. Campbell buyout is very doable for anyone including Edmonton.

I wouldn’t bother with Demelo and would give more of an increase to Holloway but not much. Overall some things here I like more than dislike. Good job overall.

Break it down 1-1 for each of them.
Leon for Barzal not even close to conversation
Dobson for bouch think could discuss which is worth more or better different players same position. This could come down to personal preference. I’d call it a split decision.
Very similar for the final two only as an oiler fan I’d rather foegele not that I think he’s better but is better suited for oilers need. The only 2 guys here I see a massive difference between are the biggest stars swapping bad move for Edmonton. Don’t shake things up in dramatic fashion for the sake of it and that’s all this accomplished.

Trading for a goalie that’s been very inconsistent doesn’t seem like solution in my opinion. In this post you’re trading 2 out of 3 right shot defenders. I’m not sure I want this many lefties on the blue line.

That’s fine. This entire situation is heavily overblown. All the oilers need is mediocre to decent goaltending for a week or two so they can snap out of the funk they are in. They don’t need to make an aggressive trade. Pickard gets called up is it unreasonable to think with nhl experience and confidence with his very solid AHL numbers he can stabilize things in the short term by providing .900 save percentage which should be all the team needs to work kinks out of game then it becomes an environment skinner can get his confidence back.

Big Goalie Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AZWings</b></div><div>^^^This^^^ Who's going to take Campbell's contract without multiple 1sts and top end prospects dealt alongside him? No one. So he's a buyout candidate in the summer but that doesn't really help the Oilers in that now even with Campbel demoted they're going to need a goalie making ~$1M who can be their starter. Good luck with that.</div></div>
Umm didn’t la move a very comparable situation last year? Did it cost them multiple firsts?

The two firsts will be used + other assets to dump Campbell
The only thing that interests Nashville is McDavid or Draisaitl which isn't happening. They aren't giving Saros away for free</div></div>
Your first sentence destroys any credibility. AHL players don’t generally get invited to the all star weekend…. Or get votes for rookie of the year. Second year goalies very very often struggle look at some in sitting in the hall of fame. Making a statement like that because of a handful of games is highly suspect.

Big Goalie Trade
I’d actually be a little shocked if Campbell gets moved during the season. If it happens people will be shocked that it’s only going to cost half of that to move him then what gets posted around here. Multiple firsts haha let’s at least try to be realistic. Very likely he’s getting bought out in the summer by whatever team and with the cap going up and his buyout won’t be a hindering issue. The only reason it’s being blown up right now is the oilers limited cap space to bring in a solution. If pickard who has nhl experience and solid AHL numbers can just help stabilize a .900 save percentage which isn’t a high bar it will help the team tremendously snap out of this funk which will also help skinner get back on track. Don’t blow years of assets solving a problem that could be fixed within a week internally. Holland patients has proven fans wrong multiple times since he arrived think we should begin to trust his process that has lead to multiple playoff rounds and multiple 50 win seasons.

I’d check out as an oiler fan if holland made that trade with the Habs. It’s not going to cost that much to move Campbell. La moved a comparable situation last year for much less.

Some fans will want to run nurse out of town until he’s gone then they will want the gm ran out of town because of the state of the defence. Nurse is a pillar within the core of the team it’s going to take something catastrophic to even consider. At least for the next 5 years.

I wouldn’t trade mcloed who I think has 1 point on the season for any of the players in that trade. Brown is among the safest on the roster. Agent that got him that deal is now hollands boss…. Also why would holland give a crap about the bonus? Hes on the final year of his contract and that’s a next years problem. Trade bouch I’m not against but Damn your miles away from any conversation with that offer.

Haha ya right Edmonton gives away top line talent for depth pieces. Kane alone is worth far more than this. He hits fights and scores goals and after seeing him in Edmonton this long he is extremely underrated for community involvement. Marino is a nice piece but he didn’t want to be an oiler before so they aren’t going to pursue him now.

Lavoie was just named player of the week in the AHL… oilers wouldn’t put trade protection as they expect to make playoffs. Blues can bet on if oilers are contenders or pretenders either way they go into the draft with 2 firsts 3 seconds. Ceci obviously is a step down but not like he’s a bum. He’s played top pair minutes on a team that’s had a lot more success in recent years. Half the annual cost with less than half the term remaining no trade protection.

I can’t wrap my head around paying these prices for a questionable or marginal upgrade in net. Gibson will post exact same numbers as Campbell and skinner until the team gets its crap together. No goaltending will hold up to the quantity and quality opportunities gifting teams.

For comparison one year at $6M cost Toronto a 1st for Marleau. 4 years at $5M it's at least two 1sts.</div></div>
It’s been how many years and people still use that comparable even tho it holds no weight.
Marleau would only waive his no trade clause if a team would buy him out so he can sign with sharks. How is that similar? Does anyone think that move was smart? Pay first round pick just to over pay Marner that’s dated well…. Just because Toronto did something stupid doesn’t make it a sensible comparable.

Why would Edmonton do this? Why is Montreal retaining? The full cap hit will be buried when Edmonton trades for a goalie. Montembault isn’t a solution.

I honestly don’t think holland would make that move. If it was to happen my guess it would come from the players. Have a very hard time seeing that. We don’t know what really takes place behind the scenes but just judging by what we can see and form opinions around the players love having him in town. Very supportive doesn’t single players out to media unless positive praise.
