Toronto Maple Leafs signed John Klingberg (1 Year / $4,150,000 AAV)
seems like a good deal. not sure if its what the leafs need as a player, but a good deal nonetheless

A bottom 6 forward, with mediocre offensive upside, for long term may be the most Lou thing there is

on the upside, him playing bottom pair minutes will probably be good for him. On the downside, you're paying alot for a bottom pair defenseman

I also wonder if detroit is somewhere free agents really dont want to go too.

is this a contract that the league is gonna come back and look at? really curious what the milestones are for the performance bonus's and wondering if this is trying to get around the salary cap

my real question is.... does he get the advantage of no state income tax in Texas for the bought out contract he'll paid for by Nashville?

this feels like a deal that carolina should have told another team to pay so they could trade for it with retainment. the AAV feels wild to me, but the term is good

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>atlantathrashers</b></div><div>Both teams are getting what they need out of this trade. Islanders get more cap room and Chicago gets a nice draft pick along with a veteran forward that could help with prospect development</div></div>
and only 1 year of that veteran at that. Also I feel like theres value in having a veteran thats played in a solid defensive system to compliment young offensive players

Like... in a normal market, it seems like pittsburgh wins this hands down. But teams are having to pay to get rid of similar production (Hayes, Johansen) or give away for effectively nothing (Hall) so how does Vegas not look like a genius in this deal?

(WPG/LAK) - Dubois for Iafallo, Kupari, Vilardi, 2024 2nd (MTL)
I dont think the packages are entirely out of line, but the most surprising part is that LA had to give such a competitive package for someone who made a short list of places hes willing to go and had all the control

(NJD/BOS) - Walsh for Bowers
Boston's going all in on #7 defensemen this offseason
They must be planning on unloading someone on the D-line, which makes sense as they currently have the most expensive D-core in the league. Wonder who gets shipped out

(BOS/CHI) - Foligno, Hall for Mitchell, Regula
i wouldnt call it a fair deal, but its also a deal that both teams win. Boston makes room on their roster (though, is whoever they put into that space going to be as cheap and potentially productive as Hall?) and Chicago gets some real top 6 forwards too play with Bedard.
Hall's contract was a sweetheart deal for Boston, so being in a position that they needed to unload him seems like a pretty big problem for the Bruins. Chicago gave up fringe players they probably wont miss and/or could easily replace
Im most surprised that chicago wasnt on Hall's no trade list, and if he agreed to go, it also seems odd because Boston is still a juggernaut and while it might be enticing to play with a player like Bedard, that team is still many years away from being competitive. I think its clear to say Chicago is on the up, but I'd be surprised if anyone is picking them to make the playoffs, the team is full of holes and lacks talent across the board

The buyout cap hits are positive things for a team challenging the cap floor.
Doesn't have to be any reason beyond that.

4d chess move. the downside is they lessen their roster salary this year, but on the upside, they get to carry more money into next year, at a lower overall cost.
tell me a 1mil (6mil cap) tyler myers isnt the perfect coyotes trade target. LIke, for what he brings salary cap wise, he may actually be something they'd give up assets to acquire.

what a wierd trade. I wanna say that the Flyers won... but then I look at other cap dump trades (Like OEL to the canucks) and it just doesnt seem like alot to take on the 5mil dead money for Petersen

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>westleysnipez</b></div><div>Not really a one-off year. Hronek's had a 40-point pace every year he's been in the league despite being on one of the worst offensive teams.
2018-19: 46 games, 23 points | DET 22nd in scoring
2019-20: 65 games, 31 points | DET 31st in scoring
2020-21: 78 games, 38 points | DET 30th in scoring
2022-23: 60 games, 38 points | DET 22nd in scoring</div></div>
So you're saying if he can a boost in van, they can then reflip him at the draft for more assets?
