Vancouver Canucks signed Vasily Podkolzin (2 Years / $1,000,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>A_Habs_fan</b></div><div>KHL salaries are not as high as you think, the best KHL players make pennies compared to the best NHL players</div></div>
a quick google says top salaries in KHL are in the 1.5-2mil range. I dont know if its the draw some people think it is, its not the days of early KHL where oligarchs were throwing ridiculous sums of money at actual NHL stars.
Now I dont know how much of a draw playing in the motherland is, but if minimum NHL salaries are likely higher than avg in KHL so it probably makes more sense to try your luck in the NHL

He's Toronto's Dakota Joshua.
Can Van extend him for less?
Can Van afford to keep him?</div></div>
Wonder what Joshua will get with this out there. Same age, same play style, similar numbers, but Joshua has a longer track record of being an NHL player. He's atleast 2 AAV then right? 2.5AAV?

2023-2024 NHL Discussion Thread #4: Deadline is Approaching
One thing for the insiders, is, we had a couple years where the there was serious cap crunch and a good player with a cheap expiring contract had an inflated value. People went from spending massive assets to get any cap space to, whatever you need for 1 yr is a 4/5th. They just havent adjusted their expectations to a world where the cap is growing again it seems to me. I could be wrong though, maybe theres nothing but hot air between their ears.

I mean, the one thing he is, is an asset which is possibly more than the nothing he could have been to make this look even worse for conroy

Thats a wild condition. Is Conroy a sub? Because it kinda seems he likes getting dominated

henrique has averaged 60gp 20g 20a for the entirety of the anaheim contract (including this year), and they got a 1st & 4th. seems like a Anaheim win, they got everything they expected from him for this year and also get alot of return value

(CGY/DAL/NJD) - Tanev for Grushnikov, 2024 2nd (DAL), 2026 4th (DAL), 2026 3rd (DAL) for Brady
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>Dallas got what they needed. Calgary and New Jersey got what they wanted. How is this not a fair trade?!?
I don't understand (or agree with) all of the people that are raving about Dallas "winning" this trade. Everyone with a lick of sense knew that Calgary's alleged "demand" of a first for Tanev was puffery. So the Flames ended up with a prospect and a second with a shot for a third. That's a decent return for an expiring asset.</div></div>
Tanev wasnt worth a first this year for the same reason Schenn wasnt worth a first last year. These players are important and useful, but if you dont put up big scoring numbers you just dont have massive value. Every cup winning team needs players like this, but none of them pay big assets or money to acquire them and thats part of the value of them.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>IconicHawk</b></div><div>We’re just trying to stay above the cap floor for right now</div></div>
I mean, theres building for the future you want VS building for the future you expect. So either way they expect to be trash tier for 2 more years. Thats a hard sell as a fan.
Reaching the cap floor can happen at any time, theres always a way to bring in more money. This contract didnt need to be signed now or even be multi-year. You dont think dickinson would be ecstatic to be offered a 1-year 4.25 offer twice?
The foligno deal makes more sense as he has value to any cup contender and might have wanted to leave at a discount to try and win.

(VAN/CHI) - Beauvillier for 2024 5th (CGY/CHI)
Beauvillier played really good last year on a line with pettersson, but I dont see why you'd want him on that line over kuzmenko or mikheyev so he was doomed to the 4th line. Now they have cap space to make a move for a defensman.

I dont quite understand the deal. If he has a repeat or even better season, isnt pretty much the same deal still on the table in the offseason? and then at something like this which is near the max for a defenseman, couldnt get the 8th year?

I put them in the 8-11 group (Add Detroit to that group). They aren't better than Nashville or Ottawa and aren't on par with those teams you mentioned.</div></div>
I'd put vancouver's high end with the 13-17 group, but their low end is potentially in the 1-8 group. I dont know if theres been a more bi-polar team the last 2-3 years

pearson when playing was pretty not good for a few years. Stats might say otherwise, but had the misfortune of watching alot of canucks games. I have no read on DeSmith as a backup, but if hes serviceable, im surprised it only cost the canucks a 3rd to get rid of pearson

and all the guy you mentioned were also not traded in the offseason?
so like do you disagree that players are worth more at the deadline? do you think they are worth more now?
are you saying team were fighting right now to get a bottom 6 dman and that why he was traded for a 4th but at the deadline teams wont want bottom 6th dman so they offer will 6th max? is your whole point that ''there is no guaranteed''?</div></div>
