Admittedly, I did not expect Kleven to be NHL ready already... And even more than that, he looks pretty good

I agree that Brannstrom is a bit stuck in the depth as he would blossom more in a 2nd pair role but that's the thing : asset management

Dorion is absolutely putrid in that regard (he probably has no idea about the concept) but you need to buy low and sell high. We already bought very high on Brannstrom, need to sell as high as possible with him... I would go :

Chabot - Sanderson
Brannstrom - Zub
Kleven - Chychrun

JBD, Thomson and Guenette to help out with injuries...

If Brannstrom has peak value and you could get a more useful piece sure, but not this trade. Vejmelka is overated. Merilainen is just 20 but I think he'll be better

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>StephL05</b></div><div>Also despite what people say I think dorion has done well building up this core... yes some bad moves were made but lots of good was done... show me one gm that is perfect. And I can't see forsberg being ready so we will need a goalie so why not one that fits in our window</div></div>

We have a LOT of talent. Dorion did some good moves but he also was in the most ideal situation possible when the rebuild started with a good prospect pool and prime assets to trade (Karlsson, Stone, Duchene, Pageau, etc). Having a few Top-5 picks and trading more high picks surely helped too. I don't have time right now to go into what he did wrong but the team not getting out of the rebuild, the prospect pool already being below average and the lack of depth in general are consequences of his mismanagement

A big problem is also the team concept and hockey systems, we just don't play the right way. Need to change the GM and coaching staff to do some tweaks and play differently so the team could blossom in a 2-way system

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>kster34</b></div><div>Hate to be a splash of cold water but SENs are sub 0.500, 23rd in league (points %) and there are at least 5 teams between you and the final wild card spot. Some good young pieces but also some major holes on this team, think it’ll take a few more years to be honest.[/quote<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>StephL05</b></div><div>Lol they also haven't played the 30th game I mentioned.. rounded up 1 game and 1 win they are on the same ball park but hey if that's what you take from this and you feel good about being the actually your wrong guy I am glad I could make your day</div></div>

I think you guys are missing the point OP is trying to make. He's trying to say that the team struggled a lot because they didn't have any chemistry + many injuries. Since December the team found Chemistry and has been doing very well despite Missing their top 2 centres, their best Defensive D, and many depth players due to injuries. 3 of the centres Right now are rookies and the depth is full of ahl plugs yet the senators have been slowly climbing the standings. They currently sit 6th in the league for PP% and 4th in FO%. PK is now 16th compared to 26th in Novembre. Yes there's still 5 teams between them and the playoffs but Sens fans are still optimistic because there's only 7pts between last in the Atlantic and the last wildcard spot. Last year there was a 20pt difference between the wildcard and none playoff teams.</div></div>
