Upgrading Offense on the Cheap
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>leafs101</b></div><div>Sharks should rebuild. Still not close to contending</div></div>
With those contracts and a flat cap a rebuild would be impossible. I would try to shore up RW and go for it.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aadoyle</b></div><div>if the sharks get a cbo i can see them buying out jones and signing lehner</div></div>
They probably would use it on Vlasic, I would think Jones is 2nd most likely

Template Roster
So it’s clear what we need.
1. Goaltending. It can be a 1A or 1B goalie. Just needs to have quality.
2. Top 6 offense. There are some free agents. There are some trades available. This team has draft capita.
Those are the two main problems that need to fixed/addressed.
Two other things that I think need to be done.
1. Bring back bob and... Nabby. Bobs system is better defensively which is what this team needs. Nabby has helped dell and jones be better with only a few months of work. Imagine with a whole offseason program.
2. Bring in a defensively sound right hand shot d-man. Can play with Vlasic as a shutdown pair or with The other two left d-men.

New wrinkle in the Kaprizov saga

Minnesota will have cap space to keep him, that won't be a problem. He is definitely setting himself up to get his ELC over with as soon as possible though.

SJS Deal for Dillon
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SammyG99</b></div><div>I think as Sharks fans, we’re hoping to see Dillon fetch a 2nd and a mid-level prospect. Maybe attach a conditional mid round pick if he re-ups next season</div></div>
Yeah I'm hoping for a 2nd and a prospect. Honestly though, I could see it being a high prospect or even for a 1st if (the sharks throw in a mid pick/prospect) the trade market is empty. I realize that may sound ambitious and Dillion sure isn't flashy, but he is very good at what he does and is as reliable as they come. He's a decent skater and very strong, and he doesn't turn the puck over. Whichever team gets him from SJ will be glad they did.

Trade Deadline Moves - Aiding Tampa - BOS - NYI - NYR
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DiehardRedWingsFan58</b></div><div>zero chance of Gourde waiving his full NTC from a potential cup team in Tampa, For a Non-Playoff team in San Jose. Need to be realistic here no one in Tampa is waiving for a Non-Playoff team if they've a chance to win a cup this summer. Just not remotely happening.</div></div>
I disagree. Gourde stuck on fourth line. He needs a change and more minutes to get out of his funk. There are a lot worst places than San Jose. The prospects have been considered solid but as with all prospects they have expiration dates and we are about there. Right now they are closer to bottom six than top six. So yes TB does the deal.

with so much on LTIR i think there is an opportunity to take back a jack johnson/Galchenyuk and get a 1st rd pick, or even Turris and maybea 1st or Tolvanen +2nd

What if San Jose added something to get them Gourde or something?
I'd give up no more than 2 third rounders.</div></div>
It's am intriguing idea to trade for one or both of these guys.
Sure Jumbo Joe has is pretty slow, but he still has the hands and smarts and would be great on a #2 PP.
Marleau can still skate and score and paired with the right C could be a nice piece for contending teams.
I guess it comes down to them wanting to leave...if they do i think the return could be half decent considering the ease of fitting them under the cap

Labanc for Georg isnt really fair though. The rangers clearly win that deal all day.

SJS definitely says no. They could get a huuuuuge return for Burns while eating $3M. That is not a huge return.

next closest +/- defenceman is Vlasic at -10; Dillon is -4; paired with a less adventurous DEF not named Burns/EK65 would only improve this

Oh hi. Yeah i keep forgetting that giving up four goals on a single power play is a prerequisite in the playoffs. God forbid they kill a penalty. Oh and i also forgot that giving up a 3-1 series lead is also a prerequisite. Got enough salt over there, big guy?

Nashville, Chicago, Calgary ,Vancouver, Minnesota, Anaheim and Winnipeg all go on losing skids while San Jose catches fire?
Why do people always ignore every team but the ones holding the spot they are looking for? The only team San Jose truly leads, with any breathing room, in the entire west is LA.

Its going to be hard for the Flyers to give up an NHL center since they are already short. I think the trade makes sense for both teams just don't see it getting done.

That Wild trade... lol
The Wild don't need Tanev and you're going to have to pay more than a 4th and a depth defenseman to get someone to take Eriksson and Zucker certainly isn't going the other way on that deal. If the Wild needed Tanev, that package might be enough to get future considerations back. Probably not though.

that zucker trade is horrendous, 1 cap dump and 1 very injury prone player with a bad pick and a ok prospect at best for a top 6 forward that both teams are trying to get younger. Not to mention the philly deal would never accept. Ghost has much more value and they are trying to compete for the cup while jet whoo wont be playing for another 2 years in the nhl thanks to the contract he signed not to mention this isnt enough value for him also delays their contention. Not to mention karlsson is looking for money and to compete so vancouver would be one of the last teams on his mind.
