Love the lineup. I feel like we're giving up a bit much in the two big trades but I'm OK with it. Could hopefully get away with taking Nadeau out at least.. OP/Dahlin/Pesce/Mitts extensions going to be around $29-31M so leaves us with ~$6-8M cap space (before cap increase) to fill 6 depth positions plus backup goalie

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Windjammer</b></div><div>Not necessarily. You still need players to fill out the roster for the year and NN and DeMelo would fetch a 2nd or so at the TDL. So, why trade then earlier and not get anything extra. Might as well just play them.
But if you're going that route, then why would the Jets want a struggling 24 YO defenseman and an expensive 28 YO winger? They'd want picks and ELC's.</div></div>
Thanks for literally quoting my comments on the trade. Have a wonderful day.
They're literally getting swapped one defenseman and one winger that are cheaper and more valuable. Did you even read anything or just came to complain?

Don't think I would add another 1st for 1 year of Hellebuyck. Idk if I'd want to extend him... but if there's a deal in place under $8mill for 3 years... I'd think about another 1st

So you're good moving your Vezina goalie in a rebuild move, but want to keep the other 2 rentals to try to compete? Not trying to get anything for Dubois, Sheiffle, Wheeler before they all walk too?

Helly trades
Throw in Stanley in the Sabres trade or take out the 2nd and works for me. (I'd still do it with the 2nd in, but value wise think the Sabres should get the defenseman thrown in too)
All those trades look reasonably fair, good stuff 👍👍

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Czu8iks</b></div><div>Jokiharju. Much safer option.
You can't avoid age, when we are dealing with 36 yrs hockey player. Petry could be on last leg. That would be his 3rd team in 3 years, would he find motivation anymore ?</div></div>
I think those are fair questions for sure! I was trying to be semi-realistic with Petry as a last resort of sorts.
I think Joki is the further thing from a safe option... dude is straight Jekyll and Hyde. To be fair, that's how I felt about Mitts too and I've been all aboard the mittsy train since he got here because of the flashes and growth year over year. I'll reconsider my Joki hate, because for every time he gets completely lost in his d-zone, he did play really well down the stretch at times

I think it's one round behind the player's original draft position. Johnson was taken 30-32 (I forget) so it would be a late 2nd.

However, if you read anything that the Kings front office and coaching staff say about him, it's very clear that Iafallo isn't going anywhere. They'd trade both Moore and Arvidsson before they traded Iafallo.</div></div>

Yes, I understand you really like Iafallo, as you should. He's also moved in almost every post by a kings fan in some capacity.

Fair enough. Saw roughly this value proposed by kings fans

Amongst others. One said something along the lines of a top 35 pick and something else, and then specifically called out the PHI pick

Building backend
Love the idea of Helle as mentor for Levi, but this probably doesn't get the deal done. With what it would axtually take to add him.. it likely means you're either A) committing to him for the future, or B) you think you're a goalie away from a deep playoff run. You could sell me on option B

That's pretty close for me as a Sabres fan. I'd do a 3rd or 4th for Goodrow, and think they need to move a goalie if Levi is in Buffalo - and they CANNOT run it back with UPL and Comrie. Only nitpick is I think Comrie would fetch a 3rd or so from a team looking for a backup

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Stadel</b></div><div>This is maybe the biggest misconception from the fan base. His defensive game actually took 2 steps back this year. Any defensive value from the kid line actually came from Jack Quinn, not from coens.</div></div>
I didnt say he had a great year defensively. No one really did. All i said was he has the tools for it and has shown it. Quinn looking better every day doesn't take away from the potential of the 21 y/o Cozens

i like tage on the wing
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Cozens42</b></div><div>I don't think these past two years were completely attributed to a position change. As good as he is offensively, his defensive game hurt the team a lot.</div></div>
I agree with Tage on the wing, not because hes not a good C but because:
1. it lets you maximize Mittelstadt (he was ELECTRIC with Skinner and Tuch). He has been making more plays on the 3rd line since Christmas, but with 53/89 Mitts was on pace for 120 points(15 points in last 10 games)
2. They get crushed on cross-ice passes in the d-zone, having Tage defending in the slot (vs. the corners) to break up passes should help - see Alex Tuch.
3. Cozens already has the chops to be a great 2-way center vs. coaching it into Tage. 12-24-72 looked really nice together even with Tage not at 100%
Obviously though, you can only do any of this if you trust Mitts to pick up where he left off next year and you think Cozens+LW2 will still get Tage to 40 goals (I think I'm on board to try it out)

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gretzkyghosts</b></div><div>First, Just to be clear, when I saw Tuch was coming to Buffalo I knew Buffalo won.
Right now, I would not trade Tuch for Eichel if that was the offer.
Second, when I saw that we only got a first and a former 7th roung pick for Sam, I nearly fainted.
Then when I was able to research Devon, I was more than satisfied.
Karmanos, Ventura and Crowe certainly had a lot to do with all of the deals (Sam, Rasmus and Jack).
EDIT: Let me add, thanks for reminding me that Jordan was actually part of the Jack trade.
I was not thrilled with giving up a second for Greenway, but maybe it will turn out exceptionally well.</div></div>
Same! Loved Tuch as a player when I started watching VGK at the beginning. Always saw a player better than his role there - didn't think he'd be THIS good tbf :tearsofjoy , but didn't need him to be at the time of the trade to be more than happy with the return
