Dynasty Season
I honestly don't hate it if Florida were to accept. The Blues could definitely be in a position to go all in, but because Florida is a playoff team, I doubt they would be willing to trade one of their top 2 players. This would also make it nearly impossible to resign Binnington in the upcoming offseason.

Big Moves
Although I don't hate the idea of Rielly on the Blues, I doubt that they would trade such a vital piece of their defense core to resign Petro. There are more contracts on the Blues that are somewhat movable that are less important than Parayko (Steen, Bozak, Allen). Furthermore, having acquired Justin Faulk, the Blues are in no need of an offensive defenseman, even though he isn't quite performing as advertised.

Blues playoff lines
Why on earth would they scratch Vince Dunn? Also, Brayden Schenn is playing on the top line as a winger.

playoff team
Short-term, trading Reinhart looks like a good idea. But the way that Buffalo has been trading suggests that they're trying to be a contending team 5 or 10 years down the line, but not yet. Though if they are committed to making the playoffs this year, this would be a very smart trade for both sides

NYLANDER MUST BE TRADED
Personally, I don't see Toronto accepting this trade. Jay Bouwmeester is a UFA this summer and Robby Fabbri is almost always injured. Toronto is essentially trading one of the best young players in the league for one year of an ageing defenceman, a good second line defenceman, and another name to put onto the injured reserve.
Though as a Blues fan, I do like it ;)

McDavid is a generational talent. If it were me, nothing would really be enough for him. No matter how bad Edmonton gets, they will always have McJesus

Perhaps a LHD at the deadline
I'm not sure that Edmonton goes through with this. The return for them isn't bad, but it leaves a massive hole in Edmonton's defense. At the deadline, unless Edmonton is contending for a playoff spot, Jay bouwmeester isn't going to be very helpful.

Players deserve to get paid their worth and i think nylander is worth the contract but from a business standpoint you have to look at the big picture as much as you want to look at the right now. the risk reward. moving forward imo if you could move him for a legitimate top pairing shutdown dman on the right side (i think thats what the leafs need) makes more sense for them as a whole. and i know theres things you can do to make the money work via buyouts or cap dumps but idk. just my opinion on it.</div></div>
Tying down most of the cap to only four player is a proven strategy for teams like Chicago and Pittsburgh. In this league, top heavy teams reign supreme. Whether it be Kane and Toews or Crosby and Malkin, I don't think there's any harm in having several, high paid, superstars on the roster

Send Nylander Where He Can Haunt You Forever
Two out of the four players in this trade are a couple years removed from their prime and are being paid WAY too much. I think it's fair to say that Toronto is receiving far better offers than this in real life.

Even if it means being a little bit tighter to the cap, I think that Toronto should take the risk and resign him rather than trading him. When you're able to put up the numbers that he is able to in your early 20's, I think that you're entitled to a fair piece of the pie in that money.

Allen for Lehner
I don't hate this trade. I do think that New York should give Lehner a decent chance before shipping him away to St. Louis. I also think that the 2nd round pick should become a 3rd, but either way, great idea!

Trying some different trades
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pharrow</b></div><div>you take two goalies off teams that frankly could use a new goalie and call them "good" I'm not sure how the logic on that works.</div></div>
I believe that both Jake Allen and Cam Talbot are both on thin ice on their respective teams. I think that before Edmonton or St. Louis decide to ship them away in random packages for better players, I think that it would be worth a shot to give them each second chances on a different teams, that's all.

Trying some different trades
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pharrow</b></div><div>"Two otherwise good goalies"
I have to argue with your definition of "good"</div></div>
Jake Allen had a phenomenal 16/17 season (and post season) and Cam Talbot, other than the previous season, has been a rock when the Oilers have needed him the most. Both might be inconsistent, but definitely aren't bad goalies by any one's standards!

STL TRADE
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>The_Architect</b></div><div>Just would like your take on this... did the Blues get lucky on draft day when they drafted these prospects? Or are they actually really good at detecting true potential where othet teams fail to see it?</div></div>
I think that the Blues have proven that they have very good scouting and prospect training, specifically when it came to Vladimir Tarasenko and Jaden Schwartz who went 16th and 14th overall respectively in the 2010 draft. The St. Louis Blues haven't had very high draft picks in the last 10 years, but they have remained a constant threat within not only the division, but the entire league!
The blues have never made any massive acquisitions or free agent signings over the last little bit like Tavares or Karlsson, but have focused more on raising their stars from young prospects into bonafide all stars and filling in the rest of the gaps through smart trades and free agent signings.
So to answer your question, I would say that the Blues are one of the most consistant teams in the league to to their talent and success with training young talent rather than trading or signing for them.

STL TRADE
If Price has a Vezina worthy season this year I can see STL considering this trade, but I personally don't see this happening. The Blues are losing three excellent prospects for a shell of Carey Price, Brendan Gallagher, and a meh prospect. Not to mention the first round draft pick which, in the 2020 draft could become a very useful asset for them. Either way I don't see St. Louis going through with this.

Another option STL-TOR
As much as I would love to see Nylander as a Blue, Colton Parayko is just entering his prime and has already gelled really nicely with everyone on the roster. Although, I do love the value that both teams see in this trade. I could see something happening very similar to this.

Future
I really like the Nylander trade. the only problem that I can think of is the fact that St Louis probably won't be able to afford an extension that a player like Nylander is deservant of. If the talks are true that he's asking for 8.5 mil, this trade doesn't go through, but otherwise, great trade!

A Much Needed Facelift
I absolutely agree, although I can't imagine Toronto giving up Nylander, and 1st, and a very good prospect for a defence man that would (on any other team) play on the second line. Though, I do think that Kyle Dubas has a more unorthodox way of thinking and therefore trading, he may see it as filling in his teams needs and weaknesses. I think we'll just have to see what he is capable of.
