so yall agree with this protection list or do you think Hextall gives Zucker away for nothing after paying a 1st and Addision for him.</div></div>
The thing is, Hextall didn’t give up anything for Zucker. GMJR did. I don’t think Hextall has any loyalty to him. Unless they can get the coach to agree to put Zucker with Sid and Jake with Geno then I could totally see Zucker going. They understand they will lose a pretty good player that they’d rather not. From your protection list there is a lot of players to look at. Tanev, ZAR, Blueger, and DeSmith are all more likely options than Matheson. I think the protection list is…
Crosby, Malkin, Jake, rust, kappy, McCann, Blueger, Letang, Dumo, Pettersson, and Jarry.
I don’t think you need to protect Carter as his age will protect him and he could just say he will retire if selected which will protect him. Which he has said before that if the kings were to trade him then he’d retire. The main reason he came to Pittsburgh was because of Hexy and Hexy needed a month to convince him. The main benefit of Zucker being selected for nothing is the cap space. It’d be hard to find a team to take Zucker in a flat cap world and pay what he is worth anyway. And the pens don’t have the cap space to keep him.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Dekes</b></div><div>You would take that trade?</div></div>
I'm a little torn. I really like McCann and his ability to fill in as center when needed, so it's hard, but I like Ritchie and game he brings. He definitely fits that Hextall-mold. My issue with the Pens going after the Hextall types is overpaying either in futures or just players who are bad at hockey, but can play that heavy game. I'd like to see Boston add a little here, but I like the basis.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mr_Gardoki</b></div><div>If the Pens are clearing Jarry to bring in a major upgrade then that's a pretty solid deal. I don't think Jarry's value is that great right now, so a 3rd round is a perfectly fine return. The only thing I'd insist on is making the 2021 3rd from FLA is a 2022 BUF 3rd.
Pens might be able to get a 2nd for him. I mean, they got one for Murray, but I think that playoff performance hurt him pretty bad.</div></div>
Jarry is still just 26 years old and still won the Pens a division last season. Was 25-9. And was an All-star the season b4.
Pens organization is talking about bringing in a vet backup or vet 1B goalie. Not trading Jarry.
Plus his contract is a plus. He’s brings back more than Murray brought back last year. And Murray brought back a high 2nd round pick and “C” prospect in Gruden. And that was more of a cap dump than anything.

I doubt it hurt him that bad. I mean the whole series wasn’t terrible. And if a few games kills a players value that much then no one would have value and there’d be no sense in trading him. If the pens get an upgrade, they’d probably be better off trading DeSmith. It’s not like Jarry is on some super insane contract. And he’d be an upgrade over DeSmith as a backup. But again, I doubt it really hurt his value. I mean we got a 2nd for Murray that was looking to get paid after 2 years of being average to below average. I can’t see the pens not getting at least a 2nd for Jarry who is on a good contract.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Rurik766</b></div><div>Now now...let's calm down a bit boys. Whether you like Petterson or not, doesn't matter because we are not the GM's. If Boston did want Petterson, is Ritchie likely to be moved? Either way what would have to be added to either side to make everyone happy?</div></div>
Idk if anything really needs to be added. I think it’s pretty fair. Ritchie is a good 3rd liner who could probably play short stints on the 2nd line. But wouldn’t want him there consistently. And MP is a 2nd pair defensive defenseman. If the Bruins take on Pettersson though it means they will probably be giving up on at least one of their 2 young LD of Lauzon/Zboril.

Announce Dougie
The Pens have Dumoulin, Matheson, Pettersson, POJ and Riikola signed on the left side, plus Hextall has made it widely known that they're going to be very stingy when it comes to moving major futures at this point. They haven't ruled out moving futures, but it's going to take a serious move and one year of Reilly isn't that move.
I believe the Pens would say no immediately.

Just a few ideas
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Rurik766</b></div><div>I agree with some of what you say, but I don't agree with you about Blueger. I agree that Gaudreau can easily fill in the 4th line C role. However, the Pens have been looking for a 3rd line C since Bonino left. Yes Carter filled that role after the trade deadline and he will fill that roll next season, but it is only temporary and the spot will be Blueger's after next season. Ideally Zucker is the guy taken by Seattle because he doesn't have enough chemistry with Geno and the Pens need the cap space. Regardless of who Seattle takes, the Pens have no choice buy to move at least two of Zucker, Petterson and Matheson just to be under the cap.</div></div>
If Seattle takes Zucker. Which is most likely.
Most likely because he’s the biggest asset to them even if they were to trade him. They would receive the best prospect package/ draft picks back for Zucker and retaining money.
They take Zucker with no compensation.
Zucker is a completely different caliber of player than Blueger.
And Again, I’m a huge Blueger fan!! He’s great!! Great two-way. But he’s 27 years old. Not a prospect anymore.
Even with a larger role, he’s not gonna drastically increase his production. You are gonna get seasons like his last two seasons. Which were great!! He’s over performed.
But Zucker is a top 6, natural goal scorer, fast and pesky too, with a wicked wrist shot. Blueger will never score 33 goals in a season, like Zucker did.
And Zucker turns 29 in January and is only signed 3 more years till he is 32. Most NHL players stay in their prime to about 30-32. Don’t fall off until after 32 years old usually.
So it’s not a horrible contract. Especially since Seattle can retain if/when they draft him.

Give him like 1.25M for 2 years. A 3M contract. Perfect!!</div></div>
1.25 x 2 is 2.5 lol not 3. But rather just sign Ceci. He was awesome. Schenn is pretty much dog sh*t anymore. Dude sucks.

The only other Penguin who has been successful was Lafferty, who won 117 and lost 119, so just under 50%. Can he be a legit 3C and push McCann to LW? I am not sure he is ready for that kind of role, but maybe they try Lafferty/Blueger alternating as 3C/4C, push McCann to LW, give Poulin another year and sign Simon to near league minimum.

(a) had just 2 years on his contract left, while Johnson has 3

Yup. Josh Manson was injured, and the Ducks were still clinging to hope.
Plus, good on GMBM for finding Gudbranson for nothing when the market for RD's was extremely limited (as it continues to be). His possession stats on a team that struggled defensively were actually very impressive.
Jack Johnson's numbers? Yikes.
