There's not a single piece Toronto could offer us that would be acceptable in a Rossi trade. They don't have the assets to get a deal done. Especially since any piece we WOULD want we can either not afford or is available.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JeffGorton</b></div><div>The value equivalent of 5 1st rounders isnt enticing. Buddy you are gonna be disappointed if he gets traded</div></div>
Bull.
That's the current 11th ova (CAL), 23rd ova (WPG), and a future 1st in a much weaker draft. So a mid-level 1st. A late 1st. And a 1st that only matters if it's a top 5 pick next year, or it holds no interest, given how top heavy next years draft is.
Furthermore... none of Xhekaj, Struble, Harris, or Engstrom are remotely worth a 1st round pick. Don't make me laugh.
He might not get the *equivalent* of a better offer. But it's going to take a better offer than that to get it done. More quality, less quantity.
He's UNTOUCHABLE. Even if he were available, Minnesota isn't rebuilding, it starts with Montreal's 1st THIS year plus another high-end piece like Dach or Huston. If you insist on sending a lower 1st that isn't in the top 5, that prospect is going to be Slafkovsky.

Hell no.
That top 5 pick is one of Eiserman or Demidov. Or one of the 3 RHD. None of whom are sure things and all are maybe's. Especially Eiserman, who's either going to become a star or bust out, there's no in-between with him.
For, checks notes, a proven 22 year-old star 30-goal scorer on a excellent contract.

But yes, let's move him. Because the Wild are so set at center and top-six fowards. 🤦♂️

Boldy is a very solid defensive player who plays a full 200ft game. Your comment is completely off-base.
Minnesota DOES NOT consider this, as it pales in comparison to what we'd ask for him.

Just to point out.
That's not how rounding works anyway. I know it's been 20+ years since I was in school. But I'm pretty sure math hasn't changed that much.
If the number is higher than 5, round up.
If the number is lower than 5, round down.
Given your dealing with TOI. The TOI of 19:33 rounds with the number 33, not 19, so it would round DOWN to 19 minutes not up to 20.
So ergo NOT 1/3.

New Look Caps
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mikesmo16</b></div><div>A prospect that could very well be the next Faber, a veteran defensemen, and a second rounder. Not JUST Chesley.
Caps need to win now, not so much for the Wild. We can't wait for D men to get to the NHL. Ovi only has 2 more years left on his deal. Maybe 1 more (I think he signs a 1 year deal) after that. Faber would fit the need for a young defensemen who can help win now, but also grow into the future.</div></div>
Are you daft?
Minnesota DOES NOT CARE if Ovi plays one more year, or two, or four, or if he's the next Jagr.
Minnesota is NOT trading a 21 year old #1D. A kid that has turned the Calder race from a forgone conclusion to a legitimate debate. Against Bedard of all f'ing people, and who would be the clear-cut winner if Bedard wasn't in it as well.
They're not moving a Legitimate 1D at age 21 for a <em>maybe</em>. Faber will only be TWENTY-THREE by the time Minnesota's buyouts end and the team will be ready for true contention for the cup in 25-26.
You want a young stud 1D? Well too bad. He's not available. In fact. He's untouchable.
Well, not unless we're getting McDavid back anyway.
Guerin, DOES NOT CONSIDER THIS.
Furthermore, you're also completely missing the point of what Motzko was saying. His ONLY point was that Chesley plays a similar style of defensive game as Faber. HE WAS NOT IMPLYING THAT CHESLEY HAD THE SAME UPSIDE.
There is a MASSIVE difference between playing hockey in a similar manner, how they play/think the game, and having the same level of potential. Don't confuse his words for something he wasn't saying.

That trade is a F*** no from Minnesota.
Chabot is good. But he's not THAT good. He's definitely not worth a A-level prospect, a solid 2nd pairing defenseman (Who we frankly need more because of his size and physicality), plus a 2nd with the condition of becoming a 1st.
Would you pay that for Brodin? Because Brodin is better than Chabot, and costs $2M less. And even IF this were to happen, Chabot certainly DOES NOT play on the top pairing over Brodin.

If you scroll down to cap hit statistics, it'll show various cap hit related information. Including the hard cap ceiling for the league.
Keep in mind that the $92M ceiling you'll see for two seasons from now is still only the *projected* cap ceiling and hasn't been confirmed by the league/Bettman yet. It's just the expected increase, is all.
The $87.5M cap ceiling for next year, is however, confirmed. Like I said, it's not as tight as you think it'll be next year. But it'll still be pretty tight. Guerin is more likely to just let it accrue over the season and utilize it at the deadline vs sign someone outright during the offseason.

Off season plan
Why are you short-changing the cap situation next season?
It's already been confirmed that the cap is going up $4M this off-season to $87.5M, so that's literally $3M in cap space you just left unusable and off the table.
Our current open cap space this off-season totals $9.5M, without any additional signings or trades/moves. We would still have $3.3M in open cap space after all this happened.
