I did! All the math works out, roster sizes work out, everything. All of these could get done immediately if all parties signed off.

Hawks-Toronto Fleury Trade - Third is conditional on if he resigns or not
I think everyone in Leafs Nation would do this in a heartbeat if CHI would agree. Have to have someone that can stop the puck. Another 1st Round exit isn't acceptable and it'll cost Dubas and others their jobs. So many picks and prospects don't pan out anyway. TOR has some sure things in 34, 16, 91 and company and the time is now.

Approved Fix For Leafs Number Two
Suggested three separate trades in the forum in total, which leaves the lineup looking like this:
Marner -- Matthews -- Bunting
Konecny -- Tavares -- Robertson
Crouse -- Kerfoot -- Kase
Engvall -- Kampf -- Mikheyev
Extras: Spezza/Simmonds (send Clifford down). The two of them can hang around to provide moral support (which seems like what they do best anyway) but neither do much of anything in the lineup and the forwards as above are much better than with either of them in the lineup.
(Note: YES, forget Spezza and Simmonds. Stuck in the mud old farts. Time for a Cup, not warm and fuzzy feels.)
Rielly -- Brodie
Sanheim -- Braun
Sandin -- Chara
Extra: Muzzin. If he's healthy, he'll likely slot in and for me, it would be for Sandin.
Fleury
Campbell
Isn't this a better lineup? More balance. Stronger defensively. Tougher. Roll four lines. Kampf's is strictly a checking line. Can interchange Robertson/Crouse/Kase between 2nd and 3rd lines.
For all of this, the Leafs would have given up:
Nylander
Mrazek
Dermott
Liljegren
Holl
Abruzzese
2022 1st Round Pick
2023 3rd Round Pick
2023 5th Round Pick
So, let's have it! What's everyone think?

Approved Fix For Leafs Number One
Let's hear it, guys! All the money works, 23-man rosters in tact. Leafs actually free up ~$380,000 in space by doing this. F*ck Nylander. They can't afford all four soon and he's easiest to trade and plenty of asset value. Sanheim and Braun become the best defensemen on the team immediately. Former is tough, too. Braun on expiring and brings veteran presence, right shot. Konecny is a "Bunting" type and can play on Tavares' wing. Crouse is big and tough and has good hands.

You're probably right, guys. My train of thought was that the dangling of Nylander might induce Jets to make deal, but I guess not.

Where do you stiffs come up with these deals? Pause for a second and think hard as to why PIT needs Hart when they have Jarry and why PHI would trade their #1 goalie in the first place? PHI loves Hart and his term and money are team-friendly.

I get we shed Mrazek and Dermott, but there is not one guy coming in that comes close to replacing Nylander's value. Graves, Zacha, Vladar are all serviceable players, but none a difference maker. And Lucic would be Richie 2.0 in the Leafs system.</div></div>
All of you guys that are in love with Nylander!!! Sure, elite talent, but we have lots of elite offensive talent. An imbalance compared to DEFENCE and TOUGHNESS, which is what wins in the playoffs when there is no room. Have to give up something to correct inefficiencies! He has been an absolute ghost for I can't how many games in a row now. Sometimes, it's easy to forget he's even in the games!!! As for Lucic, I disagree about him being Ritchie 2.0. If nothing else, he would hit, fight and his name being on the lineup card would make plenty of opponents feel a little more nervous about facing TOR because they aren't made up on just a bunch of pretty sweethearts anymore!!! Ritchie doesn't effect any of those things. The time is now for the Leafs, Shanahan, Dubas. This has to be the mindset.

Calgary gets out from Lucic's deal, sacrifice Vladar (who is backup at best). Maybe Dermott finds his offense a little more for them, less pressure than TOR. Mikheyev is a nice add for them and can be signed this Summer. 3rd Round Pick as an add on. Good deal for Calgary.
New Jersey sacrifice solid blueliner in Graves and productive forward in Zacha and taking on Mrazek's money and term might be sacrificial, too, but they would definitely covet Nylander's skill set on a team that has trouble putting the put in the net. I think New Jersey does this just for elite scorer in Nylander.
Toronto gets their stay-at-home guy in Graves (lead league in plus-minus when he was on a good team). Team-friendly money and term like Dubas is looking for. Vladar has stamped himself as a legit backup and he's much cheaper than Mrazek, freeing up money to sign Campbell in off season. Lucic, well he's Lucic. No more f*cking around with the Leafs. Sorry, but Wayne Simmonds isn't imposing enough. Lucic slides in to play 3rd line (see projected lineup below) and maybe 2nd unit PP. Great additions. Nylander is the sacrifice for finding these needs. Besides, they won't be able to afford all these guys in a few years and Nylander is inconsistent and still behind Matthews/Marner/Tavares in the tradeable pecking order. Mikheyev's okay but he's not resigning in the off season anyway, so might as well sweeten the deal with him as a means of making this work.
Projected lineup post trades:
Bunting - Matthews - Marner
Kerfoot - Tavares - Zacha
Lucic - Kampf - Kase
Engvall - Spezza - Simmonds
Rielly - Brodie
Muzzin - Graves
Sandin - Holl
(Liljegren)
Campbell
Vladar
Pretty good if you ask me.

Exactly. Don't worry, never happening. Stevie Y has a plan for DET that is already identifiable as the one unveiled all those years back in TAM. Tons of young guys coming from within, cap space galore. Wings fans should be excited. Three years from now and for several thereafter this team will be a juggernaut.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BruinsFan35</b></div><div>Not even close for Dallas. Great young forward in Hintz and Klingberg who, despite being a rental, is very valuable. Grizz and DeBrusk carry decent value, but certainly not enough. Not to mention, right-shot defenseman (Klingberg) is the last thing the Bruins should be trading for, and left-shot defense (Grzelcyk) is probably the last thing the Bruins should be trading away (aside from maybe centers).</div></div>
It's heartwarming to read opinions from the few that have a clue on this forum. Well said.

Agreed. Plus, they already have Matthews, Marner, Tavares, Nylander to put the puck in the net. Leafs need to use their one or two bullets to acquire defensive help, not another scorer.

giroux to colorado
COL is not chasing Giroux. Even if they could get PHI to agree to take on all this salary you've suggested, how do they justify paying so much for a rental on a team that already has MacKinnon and Kadri down the middle? I mean, they could move him or someone else to the wing on the 2nd line, but all signs point to this not happening if you ask me. Too many other teams out there with much more need for him that could offer higher price and offer Giroux contract extension.

Great thoughts here, very well put together.
NYR is a very likely landing spot for Giroux. They could use an elite centre, they have the cap space and prospect depth to make it happen. Very good team gets even better here. Probably sign him for another year or two as well.

bulking up for the playoffs
Couple of thoughts...
1. Muzzin is not going to be any worse than 2nd pairing, like it or not.
2. Like this deal but don't want to take on Matt Martin at $1.5m for next year.
Would love to have Chara ASAP for toughness and leadership and respect and Mayfield is tough, stay-at-home that they need on a friendly contract. BUT, Lamoriello isn't moving Mayfield for dog **** Dermott and dog **** Anderson. Have to sweeten that with a prospect or useful roster player. Add one of those useless Russian prospects everyone's mistakenly excited about: Amirov or the other midget, Abramov. Something like that.
