Go with 7d and have Muzzin sub in with Chara. I like it , affordable.

Just cause he's out with a concussion right now, and haven't heard a timetable for return. Come playoff time, I'd put him, Chara and Liljgren on a rotation for the bottom 2. (unless he steps up his game. Him and Holl have been pretty bad this year)

hopefully he regains his form , he flies under the radar and handles the tough assignments

Couple of thoughts...

1. Muzzin is not going to be any worse than 2nd pairing, like it or not.
2. Like this deal but don't want to take on Matt Martin at $1.5m for next year.

Would love to have Chara ASAP for toughness and leadership and respect and Mayfield is tough, stay-at-home that they need on a friendly contract. BUT, Lamoriello isn't moving Mayfield for dog **** Dermott and dog **** Anderson. Have to sweeten that with a prospect or useful roster player. Add one of those useless Russian prospects everyone's mistakenly excited about: Amirov or the other midget, Abramov. Something like that.
