<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RipNasty</b></div><div>It's funny how Caps fans make Wilson out to be this huge difference maker for them. Since he signed his current contract, the caps haven't won anything. You guys love to throw out that if he played in TO he would automatically be a 30 goal 60 point player, which has not ever done. And one guy today said he's apparently carrying Ovie and Kuz and that's why he hasn't done so.
Wilson is not worth Nylander, and never will be. You don't trade a player that makes everyone around him better for a guy that needs better players to make him special. On his own Wilson is just a big hitting machine. In the bottom 6 he's a 30 point player. If he finds chemistry in a top 6, he may score 50 points. But that's entirely due to the better players he's playing with.</div></div>
Pretty funny how Leafs fans can say anything about players being huge difference makers. Since any of them signed their contracts they haven't won ANYTHING. Obviously Nylander is the better player but the difference between him and Wilson isn't a 1st. Especially when he wants 9.5 mil and everyone knows TO's cap situation. How much PK time does Nylander have? How many times has Nylander completely altered another team's roster? (cough Rangers). Wilson brings a lot more to the game then just points and hitting, which is the reason everyday Leafs fans propose the same trade. Yes Wilson would obsoletely be a 60 pt player on TO and Nylander probably wouldn't be a 90 pt player on any team but TO or like the Oilers.

If Nylanders ask wont drop
The other commenters are talking about Wilson but to me it's Cristall that puts this trade over the line. Washington is entering a rebuild soon and Cristall has the potential to be the center of their new core.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jazzykiwi</b></div><div>Honestly at this point I'm good with rolling with the team they have this season. Kuzy and mantha seem damn near impossible to trade, so I'd rather just see what Carberry can do with them. If kuzy and mantha have bounce back seasons and the team can stay healthy they will be competitive but probably not a playoff team. So hopefully they are able to move some contracts at the deadline and acquire some young players, like Sandin, and draft capital. Then they can load up for the last two years of Ovi and make another cup run, with the increased cap. And their farm system would be decently stocked for after Ovi retires</div></div>
This is what i want to see. Upgrade to some younger pieces at the deadline and have another top 15 pick then go all in the next two seasons with more caps and likely osh and or backy retired

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Otto_Kirov</b></div><div>I just can't see this team as a playoff team. Maybe competitive, but not a playoff team. Part of it is the financial situation of the league hamstringing the trade market. Part of it is this team just not being set up right. Hoping that so many guys on the wrong side of 30 can suddenly be consistently healthy and play a faster style of game does not engender hope in me. Running back a core that hasn't done anything for 5 years doesn't do anything for me. And idk how their young prospects like McMichael are supposed to contribute when he doesn't have a place to play in his natural position and they don't even have enough cap space right now to add him to the roster. My hope for this team this year is certain older guys produce somewhat and they can move their contracts at the deadline for assets and prospects and prepare for the last two seasons of Ovi when they have more cap space and roster spots open.</div></div>
Well said couldn't agree more

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Otto_Kirov</b></div><div>As much as I do want the Caps to get Michkov, I'd take one of Dvorsky, Leonard, or Reinbacher depending on who falls where.
Dvorsky: McMichael and Lapierre have promise at the center position, but I firmly believe you can never have enough depth down the middle. Dvorsky is something the Caps need in a true two-way pivot with real offensive upside. Definitely highest on him of the three.
Leonard: Love feisty wingers with scoring ability. And their depth at right wing in the minors isn't the best, definitely could use someone like Leonard there. Also, Amherst, MA strong.
Reinbacher: Seen a lot of division on Reinbacher. I personally like what I see. Big body defenseman with a big shot. No idea what his ceiling is, but he's the kind of high floor guy who can do well if things go the way they should. Outside of Iorio, there isn't a RD that excites me in the system. With Carlson aging and the mileage on his body, they need to start thinking of his replacement. If Leonard or Dvorsky are gone by 8oa, I'd be in on picking him.</div></div>
It’s strange to see the Caps picking in the top 10. It would be really cool to see Michkov fall to them, but they’re in a good position to get any of those other three players for sure. Can’t go wrong with any of em.

Beefing the roster
canes honestly need brind amour to tweak his system. they rely way too much on tips and rebounds as well as having their defense be way too trigger happy. it works well in the regular season especially when they can out hustle teams, but its now 3 straight years w the same problems biting them in the playoffs
