Completely understandable people do lie a lot. If I told every one on this site that one of my cousins has the fastest goal in the NHL and another cousin is an ECHL head coach they probably wouldn’t believe however both are true.

Lets compare his games to other clear #1 goalies

Vasilevskiy has as many games (not counting playoffs) in his last 3 years as Ullmark had in 5 years.
So yeah. 1.5 good starting years.</div></div>
Ullmark is a top 5 goalie in the league and using games played to discount that is outright stupid.
Also hilarious that you used Oettinger, a goalie who has played a season and a half, as a comparison.

Not really. B’s would rather just keep him buried as insurance policy for playoffs. His contract has not been a hinderance to the point of preventing them from making moves they wanted to. Now that his term disappears and only 1 year left the cost of moving him goes down as well. I don’t see them doing any less than future considerations. Same way Wild moved Kulikov with 1 year and similar cap hit last offseason. Otherwise they just buy him out.

(ARI/OTT) - Chychrun for 1st, 2nd, 2nd
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ON3M4N</b></div><div>2 late 1st? So you think Ottawa is going to be one of the worst teams in the NHL next year? As of today they sit 5pts out of a wild card spot and that's without having their #1C for almost the entire season. Now they add Chychrun to the mix. Tyler Boucher should be a guy whose ready to make the jump next year (another #10OA pick). With $16 million in cap space they should be able to keep DeBrincat in the mix. Ottawa very much should be a playoff contender next year. So those 2nd rounders are likely middle 2nd's, which does not equate to "late 1st's" as you say.</div></div>
The 2024 2nd is Washington's, so it'll probably be around the middle. The 2026 is Ottawa's. That's too far in the future to predict where it will be, but Ottawa's future looks pretty bright so I'd guess it'll be a late 2nd.
I don't know how Random2152 figures this is two late 1sts and a top 10 pick. Maybe that's what Arizona was hoping to get for Chychrun, but it's certainly not what they got.

(BOS/WSH) - 1st, 2nd, 3rd, Smith for Hathaway, Orlov
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ON3M4N</b></div><div>Just roughly doing the math, my guess is that who ever took him as a pure "cap dump" and not part of a package like WSH did, they would have needed to pay him around $1 million for the rest of the season. Without a decent prospect or pick coming back, idk how many owners want to shell out $1 million for a guy that is only around for a few months. I think that's why Mike Reilly hasn't been moved yet either. No only does he have another year on his deal, but next year he's owed $4 million in real money despite being a $3 million cap hit. That's the problem with backloading contracts.</div></div>
Yeah front loading contracts makes them easier to dump on low internal salary teams.
But there are teams that seem willing to spend money in situations like this, but I don't know how many of them are buying cap right now. I feel like some/most of the following:
Toronto (wouldn't take Cap right now)
Vancouver (Who the hell knows what they will ever do)
Montreal
I would say NYR, but they are always pushing themselves to the max cap wise
Buffalo at least when Pegula first came on board seemed open to spending $$
Probably some other bigger hockey market teams like you, Philly, Chicago, maybe Detroit but I don't know the ownership situation well enough to say with confidence

Sorry what I meant was, there isn't more than 1 nominee from 1 team. For example, I doubt for the Hart the 3 finalists would be McDavid, Ullmark and Pastrnak. One of Ullmark/Pastrnak wouldn't be in the final 3.

Is Boston really going to overpay for Gavrikov
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ON3M4N</b></div><div>Picks are like scratch tickets. If you're lucky you win big, at worst you hope you get your money back (they become a service NHL regular), but more times than not you're going to be left with nothing.
The odds of a late 1st being an NHL player (100+ games) is around 68%, while a 3rd has a 27% chance and a 4th has a 22% chance.
Where does he fit? Well you can play him in a lot of place depending on the type of team your playing or the game situation. He can play with McAvoy on the top pair all the way down to the 3rd pair with either Clifton or Forbort. He's a swiss-army knife</div></div>
People really over value draft picks its kind of crazy... And Boston's first is going to be at best 23rd and most likely 30th - 32nd. I rather have CBJ try and get a decent prospect instead of all those picks...

Now you've guaranteed you have two top centers once Bergeron and Krejci retire. Lohrei stays and if you think Horvat centering Hall and Coyle is actually a third line then I can't help you. Get outside and get some fresh air.</div></div>
You aren't apparantly.
You re-sign Pasta, Bo, Sway, Frederic, add the bonus overages, fill out the remaining roster cheaply, you are still over 90m.
Lohrei does not replace Carlo, they play opposite sides and opposite type of games.
Bo would play 3rd center this year, he is not bumping Bergy out of #1 or breaking up the chemistry of 2nd line, would be asinine.
Not sure who you think the other top 6 center is if 37 and 46 retire. Zacha? Maybe.
Not sure you even know who Horvat is. He is a guy who has consistently put up 55 points a year. You think that is #1 production? He is having a career year shooting 10% above his career norm. When he regresses to the norm, and he will, he goes back to being that 55-60 point guy. He does not create especially well, certainly not for a #1, he is an average skater who does not separate from defenders. And despite people saying how great he is defensively, his metrics don’t prove it.
This team is far better off filling some needs, Right shot FWD that plays a heavy game and a physical d man. Convince 37 to return for another year. Fix long term center later when the dust settles.
This trade sucks.
By the time you factor in what they’d have to actually trade, this isn’t it, and then the players they would have to move out next year to create the cap space for him you have done more harm than good. And you are also making them very exposed to an offer sheet on Swayman.
It’s just a poorly thought out, XBox move, without understanding the ramifications.

Unless Don Sweeney looks at past rental trades, or looks at his roster and realizes it’s obviously not a fit.</div></div>
This is next year. Presumably Nucks are doing a sign and trade in the offseason.
However if that’s the case Boston just signs him theirselves. Getting an extra year is not worth giving up that when they can sign him for 7 without giving up anything. 🤷🏻♂️
But Boston is not going to have an extra 8m in cap space lying around to do it.

I think the whole Lysell didnt have a great year is just that 62 in 53 in the W is not like world beating numbers. I think that year though is tricky, he started the year off prettly slow but dominated the 2nd half of it and the playoffs he was producing way more with a worse team after the deadline. I think people just look at the numbers and dont look at the context.
