I think Helly is deserving of the money - that being said with what we're trying to do we cant just go off script when we've managed the cap so well in the years where it hasnt increased.

Dubois
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NickC1988</b></div><div>I don't get the LA hype for Dubois, their issue isn't at the center position, and moving one of the greatest defensive centers to the wing probably does more harm than good. A goalie is definitely a need, but I'm not sure they need to shake up the team that much to take that next step, they're right there.</div></div>
You should tell that to all those rhumorists followers who think there is a Dubois sweeptake brewing between LA and Winterpeg ... At best i see them for Hellebuyck, but as you say this would be ridiculous to move Kopitar on the wing.

Well... Because I either read it wrong to begin with or you changed the trade. Because I thought it was CHI's 2023 2nd. haha.

Let gavy walk
This team is worse than the Kings were pre-trade deadline.
Would rather have Dumolin than Leddy.
No need for Laughton, Lizotte and Kupari are good bottom-6 centers and got better as the season went on.
Why is Detroit buying a 1-year rental?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RipNasty</b></div><div>Pretty sure Muzzin is never going to play again unfortunately so no need to move him. Murray may yet be needed. I could see a scenario where he plays 1B to Woll next season.</div></div>

Exactly! This is the biggest issue of LTIR with playoff bound teams.

Offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NickC1988</b></div><div>Our D prospects aren't NHL ready. I don't think Korchinski is ready like everyone else believes. He's not great in his own zone yet and given the expected roster next season, he'll be facing a lot of tough minutes, especially in road games. Is it really going to help his development playing against MacKinnon and Rantanen? I think the 24-25 season is where we'll see a lot of prospects make the jump to full time NHL action (Korchinski, Slaggert, Nazar, Rinzell, Commesso). Coincidentally, this will be right around the time for the hawks to begin contending. Perhaps they sign one of the many stars available in the 2024 free agent class.
We will see how it shakes out, but i'm not opposed to them coming together or individually. If they deserve to be here so be it. Part of the reason the hawks were successful in the 2010s was because of how their prospects matured in different years. Byfuglien, Bickell, Shaw, Teravainen. I think KD weaponizes the cap space to acquire picks this season, then weaponizes the picks to acquire RFAs teams can't afford in 2024.</div></div>
Time to give prospects like Phillips and Vlasic minutes, let them sink or swim.
Let Korchinski, Del Mastro, Rinzel, Allan etc marinate further

I'm fine with what you're saying regarding taking time with prospects, especially Korchinski. Obviously high ceiling, but lets not rush him like Boqvist. I very much agree with you on that. Vlasic isn't a kid and Phillips while drafted lower is only a few months younger. Rockford will still have Del Mastro and Kaiser as their #1/#2. Then plug one of Roos/potentially Allan or vet.

I'd bet my life the bruins don't end up needing to attach ant picks to Forbort to dump him, the NHL has always overvalued big bodied PKers that are terrible at everything else other then PKing.

At this point I think it’s 60/40 Domi gets traded before the deadline, 20/80 Khaira does, and 10/90 AA does.
Those numbers are completely arbitrary and based on vibes so could be completely wrong.

How do we feel about this
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NickC1988</b></div><div>Pretty crummy. Seems like every other team is getting a haul and the hawks are getting below market value. McCabe trade was brutal, Kane trade will be underwhelming, I don't know where they go from here.</div></div>
Hawks are gonna get bent in the Kane trade, but that’s a given. To put things in perspective I think if you said you would get a first and a second for Lafferty and McCabe this off-season (retention aside as it hardly matters for us) a lot of people would be pretty happy. I think Toronto definitely got a good deal because they bought in bulk but you have to realize McCabe had a terrible season last year and Lafferty was on waivers shortly before the Nylander trade. Anderson could be a similar story, don’t want to paint him as something he’s not but big opportunity’s for productive AHL’ers at the very least haven’t gone wrong in chicagos rebuild so far (Raddysh)…

It's gonna be WAY more costly for Ottawa to dump the Peterson deal than the Zaitsev would be. Ottawa is paying a premium to get Roy and include Zaitsev, just so they can then pay more to dump Peterson in the offseason too. This doesn't add up at all for Ottawa.

One other point which I should have mentioned . . . Buffalo is in the playoff hunt. They are 6 points behind Washington (second wild card) with 4 games in hand. The Sabres have a three-game California swing. If they can beat the Kings in the first game tomorrow, and we all know what happened the LAST time they played, then there's a good chance that by Sunday, they will have drawn even with the Capitals. In that light, it would be idiotic to trade their starting goalie for a guy we have no assurance will be healthy by April.
