Obviously would be disclosure and due diligence before this would even be considered by STL. Assuming nothing major and just needs out of MTL don't think they are doing to not seriously look at that swap. Especially if add additional prospect into the offer that MTL can afford to also add in

Assumed is just related to MTL market. If that's the case, that seems fair Drouin has unrealized potential compensated by the added picks

They only have 6 mil and change in cap space.. most of their big ticket contracts have NTC - be hard to sign Pietro and unload enough cap space to keep Dunn.

Contingent on sign and trade with Domi. Domi signs trade is smart.
Jets are not trading Ehlers for Domi, they're trading Ehlers for a slight down grade at forward for some immediate (Kulak) and near term (Juulsen) help on the back end that is in shambles + more near term help with additional 1st rounder
Win. Win.

Change it up, draft picks don't much matter. Take 1st and 2nd wash the 2nd back and just conditional for following year. WPG is not turning that down to get shot in the arm for cheap back end help and only a slight (cheaper) drop off on the wing/center in Domi

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BurgerBoss</b></div><div>You only have $1,25M + the cap raise which is probably around $3,5M left in cap space, which equals to less than $5M left with no big contracts expiring. With the contracts being like they've been lately, if Domi scores another 70+ point season, he's gonna cost around $9,5M in 2020-21. Mete will probably accept a $3-4M contract. Domi and Mete are gonna cost the north of $13M.
You're pretty much forced to move two or three of Tatar, Shaw, Byron or Petry...</div></div>
Cap next year probably goes to $83 mil.. That's 11.29 mil. Trade Byron you have 14.69 mil to play with. Domi has another similar season and you give him 9.5 you still have 5.2 left. I don't think Mete get 3-4 mil at this point unless he just goes off this year. You bridge him and Juulsen at 1.75-2.5. If you need more you have Shaw and Danault you can move out for more room

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>EnglishFitzPercy</b></div><div>I'm not saying this scenario is likely at all, but with Poehling, Suzuki and maybe one of the Finns (Ylonen, Ikonen) getting closer to the NHL, Shaw and Byron become expandable. The year after would be a much bigger challenge though with Danault, Gallagher, KK and Poehling.
Anyway, I don't see that happening but if somehow we get close to the cap this year, 20-21 is not going to be a big issue but 21-22 will be.</div></div>
Would like to keep Shaw's grit but can definitely look to move him and Byron for cap space, fine with having to get rid of both. Also think after this year you can entertain trading Danault for additional cap space if needed with one year of seasoning for Poehling you have Domi, KK and Poehling as top 3 C - also Suzuki if keep him there and not the wing, have solid group of young C

They wouldn't be able to match if they're priced out from all their other signings....
..And they don't happen, but with Bergevin's insane moves there's no reason to see why he'd be afraid to go against the grain of gentleman's agreement with offer sheets and immediately improve on his roster

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BluesBandit</b></div><div>RNH and McDavid tore it up dude. And tell I’ll argue that RNH with a contract is worth more than Patches with one. To be fair Pacioretty hasn’t had a center to showcase his talents recently. However, it seems like RNH is more of a known and he plays center so I’ll give him the nod.</div></div>
How can you legitimately think that RNH is 'more of a known' ... last 5 years RNH has 237 pts to Patches 295 (which is 28th most)... and goals.. Patches has 158 (which is 10th most in that timeframe) ALL of which was as you said without 'a center to showcase his talents'. RNH has 97 goals in last 5 years
That's simply outrageous to say RNH is more of a known then Pacioretty. You have McDavid and Draisaitl up the middle - that's your path to the cup. Add an elite goal scorer to play with one of them is a must

2019-20 / Seguin $$$ + Patch trade w/ CHI
Yeah taking Ward and sending back the cheaper Neimi would just be a salary dump on CHI part - gives them additional cap space to make room at the deadline. Don't know their full D corp, but Benn @ 1.1 M for 1 year is a very solid 7th guy to ward against injury if young D aren't ready for call up - not finding a better value then that. Even if it's Patches for Beaudin and a 1st (I'm all for that - all pluses for us)
Seguin would sign - hopefully after we've tanked the 2018 year and had the 1st overall pick and already drafted Jack Hughes. You sell him on playing with Drouin, and having Hughes as the #2 C and Kotkaniemi and #3 for the future. We need help on D still but Juulsen and Mete should take strides this year plus if in 2019-20 Beaudin can step in on left side that's a much better D corp then we have now, plus Price. Our young wingers need to show this year they are progressing but I don't think it's a massive sell to lure him - will have to out bid everyone else but the team with him and if we can get Hughes wouldn't be a rebuild
